Veere Di Wedding: What's The Movie All About!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the most anticipated movies of the year, Veere Di Wedding has been in the spotlight ever since its announcement back in 2016. Touted as the first Bollywood chick-flick that has four female powerhouse performers, the movie has generated quite a buzz even before the release of its official trailer which is scheduled on April 19. The film is slated for a June 1 release.
Veere Di Wedding has Sonam Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in the leading roles and traces the journey of the “fantastic four” as they go on a road trip to visit a wedding. It is promoted as a romantic comedy displaying the story of four independent women.  However, it should be mentioned that the original name of the movie was tilted Veeray Di Shaadi with Katrina Kaif and Huma Kureshi having been considered for the roles ultimately offered to Kareena and Swara respectively. The title was changed owing to the controversy surrounding the movie title. Swara and Sonam have very good on-screen and off-screen chemistry and have already shared screen space in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Raanjhana before that. Swara recently tasted success with Nil Battey Sannata and Anaarkali of Aarah and grabbed the opportunity to work in a commercial chick-flick where we will see her in a far more glamorous role.
Veere Di Wedding is the first film of Kareena Kapoor Khan post her becoming a mother. She was last seen in the movie Ki & Ka alongside Arjun Kapoor. Kareena has been cast opposite Sumeet Vyas who is sharing the screen space with Kareena and Sonam for the first time and it also the first collaboration between Sonam and Kareena.
The film is directed by Shashank Ghosh of Khoobsurat fame and is being produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures in association with Rhea Kapoor and Nikhil Dwivedi. Rhea Kapoor has always had a thing for chick flicks. Both Sonam and Rhea want to make this genre as popular in India as it is in the West. The film has been shot extensively in Delhi, Mumbai and Phuket. After wrapping up their shoot in Phuket, the whole cast recently shot for a promotional song titled “Tareefan” along with rapper Badshah. This is the second time Badshah is collaborating with Sonam after their hit Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai for Khoobsurat. Tareefan means compliments in Punjabi and has a very urban vibe. The song has been written by Badshah along with Karan Mehta who is the music director of the movie. The video of the song has been choreographed by none other than Farah Khan.
Do catch the movie in theatres near you on June 1 as it promises to be high on girl power and fun.

102 Not Out - Amitabh And Rishi Re-Unite On-Screen After 'Ajooba - 1991'
Tumblr media
After twenty-seven years, veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor are going to share screen space in the Umesh Shukla directed comedy-drama movie 102 Not Out. The film is based on a famous Gujarati play written by Saumya Joshi - Gujarati writer, poet, director and actor. The movie released its teaser on 9th February this year.
The one-minute teaser shows Amitabh Bachchan playing a centenarian father to his 75-year-old son played by Rishi Kapoor. It is apparent from the movie that the story revolves around the father-son duo and despite the generation gap between the two of them 102-year-old father seems and feels much younger than his son. The Big B and Rishi Kapoor re-unite on-screen after Ajooba (1991). The teaser shows high spirited Amitabh Bachchan sporting a white moustache, beard and hair with a limp of an old man. He is seen in a humorous frame of mind playing the saxophone, dancing with his son in the rain and exchanging cards with him. Whereas Rishi Kapoor plays the role of a 75-year-old son who is engrossed in some of the other tension in life and doing yogasanas. The 102-year-old character, on the contrary, tries to cheer him up and in a very zestful manner proclaims that he will be the first father of the world who would send his son to an old-age home.
In one of his public appearances, Amitabh Bachchan was heard making a statement wherein he shares his joy of teaming up with Chintuji (Rishi Kapoor) after many successful and historical films. Kapoor, on this reunion, added that it brought back a lot of happy memories that both of them shared during the yesteryears. Bachchan further added that the country yearns for the vibrant and fresh young generation, but the ‘oldies’ are no less either if given a chance. The movie is going to bring out the beautiful love story between an old son and an even older father.
Umesh Shukla chose the Gujarati play because it had proven a success amongst the youth as well as the family audiences. He wanted to showcase the adorable relationship between a father and his child and had felt that great actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor together on the silver screen would be a dream cast.
102 Not Out is all set to hit the screens on 4th may, 2018. So, fans too are all geared up for this amazing and unusual father-son love story.

Beyond the Clouds: A Sneak Peek At The Cast
Tumblr media
All set to hit the screens in India in March this year, Beyond the Clouds has got us all excited with its engaging trailer and the promise of a film with a nuanced take on complex human relationships. Directed by Iranian auteur Majid Majidi, the film is set in the murky underbelly of the city of dreams, Mumbai, and boasts an eclectic cast that is a mix of fresh and experienced Indian talents.
The film has been screened at the London International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival to positive responses and it was also the opening movie at IFFI (Internation Film Festival of India) in Goa. There is quite a healthy buzz around the film and people are gearing up to catch it on the silver screen. Before the film releases next month, let's take a look its cast.
Ishaan Khattar
The film, which is a tale of an estranged brother-sister duo navigating through the infamous Mumbai underworld, marks the debut of Ishaan Khattar whom you may know as Shahid Kapoor's younger brother. Born to actors Neelima Azeem and Rajesh Khattar, Ishaan first appeared on the screen, as a child actor, in Shahid 's 2005 film Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi!. He was also an assistant director of the highly acclaimed film Udta Punjab that starred Shahid Kapoor in a leading role. He has been garnering a whole lot of praise for his performance and now, even before his first film has had its theatrical release; Ishaan has started working on his first Hindi film, Dhadak.
Malavika Mohanan
Southern actress Malavika Mohanan made her debut in Malayalam cinema with the 2013 movie Pattam Pole. She is the daughter of acclaimed cinematographer K. U. Mohanan. Deepika Padukone had auditioned for the role of Tara played by Malavika in the film. She finally bagged the role when the director decided that his film needed a relatively fresher talent and not a huge star like Deepika. There is a lot of chatter in the industry about Malavika's nuanced performance and we can only hope that we get to see more of her after this.
Goutam Ghose
Celebrated Bengali director Goutam Ghose, who is a fine actor as well, plays the character of Akshi, the antagonist in the movie. The winner of a staggering 16 National Awards for filmmaking, Gautam Ghose has also acted in numerous films and his presence is bound to make Beyond the Clouds a great film.
Tannishtha Chatterjee
Acclaimed actress Tannishtha Chatterjee is also a part of the cast. The Indian actress, who is a graduate of the National School of Drama, has delivered incredible performances in the British movie Brick Lane, the film Dekh Indian Circus that got her the National Award. She has also worked in Hindi and Marathi movies.
Sharada
Veteran Telegu actress Saraswati Devi, famous as Sharada, has mostly worked in Malayalam and Telegu films and is a recipient of 3 National Awards. Beyond the Clouds will definitely benefit from the presence of such an experienced actor.

Does Padmaavat Have The Making Of A Hit Movie Of The Year?
Tumblr media
Padmaavat has been at the eye of the storm ever since it went on the floors. With goons vandalizing the sets of the film in Rajasthan and everyone involved with the film being pulled up for hurting Rajput sentiments, Padmaavat has had a tumultuous pre-release ride. Now that some of the ruckus has subsided and the Supreme Court of India has ordered its nation-wide release without any hassle, Padmaavat is slated to release on January 25. With Bollywood having a very average 2017 at the box-office, the entire industry is hoping that they can kickstart the new year with a blockbuster. But does Padmaavat, whose marketing strategy has been all over the place due to the furore, have all the elements of a hit movie? Let’s find out.
A Resplendent Deepika Padukone
From the moment the first poster of the movie dropped, Deepika Padukone's stunning look as Queen Padmavati has been the talk of the town. The more so because of her unibrow which sparked debates about changing perception of real beauty in a modern woman. From the trailer, it's evident that Ms. Padukone has portrayed the character of a 16th century Kshatrani, Padmavati, with restrained elegance and eyes that speak volumes. The leggy lass is known for captivating the audience without having to spout too many dialogues and if her track record is anything to go by, the audience is in for a treat with Padmaavat.
A Monstrous Ranveer Singh
And it's not just his physique that is being referred to! After the trailer released, all everyone has talked about is Ranveer's barbaric, eccentric and queer portrayal of Sultan Alauddin Khilji. The film also, apparently, explores Khilji's sexuality and his liaison with one of his generals, Malik Kafur (a very talented Jim Sarbh). This is uncharted territory for Bollywood and who better to portray the complex character of Khilji than Ranveer Singh who has created his own unique niche in such a short span of time.
An Understated Shahid Kapoor
Here is an actor who is a solid embodiment of the 'less is more' theory. With Deepika playing the titular role and Ranveer Singh portraying the amped-up anti-hero, Shahid's Maharawal Ratan Singh stands to be the surprise package of the film. As with many of his earlier films, Shahid plays a character that is bound to be the binding force of the entire film. Even though Shahid does not have the physique that great Rajput warriors supposedly had, if the great actor in him has done his job, the film will be a helluva watch.
The Master at Work
Sanjay Leela Bhansali stands for master storytelling and opulence and there seems to be no dearth of both in his latest offering. Padmaavat looks grand and, with its budget of almost 200 crores, is set to be one of the most well-made films in India. Bhansali's eye for detail is famous and if it shows in every frame of the film, then Padmaavat will be one of the biggest hits of the year.

What Are The Comedy Movies That Saif Ali Khan Has Starred In?
Tumblr media
With time, Saif Ali Khan has not only sharpened his acting skills but has appropriately brought out his humorous attitude to the fans that have always been appreciated and added feathers to his hat. His next upcoming comedy film is ‘Kaalakaandi’ set to release in 2018.
Saif Ali Khan’s upcoming movie is an Indian dark comedy. ‘Kaalakaandi’ stems from the Marathi word meaning things going dreadfully wrong. The comic flick shows how every action has an opposite reaction as it spins around life, death and karma. The ‘Delhi Belly’ writer, Akshat Verma is directing ‘Kaalakaandi’ with fresh and impactful punch lines. The first look at the movie is out with Saif in his sinister form. It is a story about one single night of raucous underbelly of Mumbai where Khan’s character navigates from one wild adventure to the other.
Following is a list of comedy movies that Saif acted in making him more versatile.
1. Dil Chahta Hai: With this comedy-drama, Saif’s mirth was truly recognised. Saif’s character of Sameer was enjoyed by the audience as he played the role of a guy who thought he fell in love with any girl he met until he met Pooja (Sonali Kulkarni).
2. Kal Ho Na Ho: A comedy-drama with romance and emotions that garnered Saif lot of applause for his amazing comic timings, trying to woo his childhood sweetheart Naina (Preity Zinta).
3. Hum Tum: Saif’s another hit, where he acted as the lead actor and proved himself one of the best with his humour and perfect comic timings. He flawlessly enacted Karan Kapoor’s role as a cartoonist and the differences where he always belittles women until eventually, he starts falling for Rhea (Rani Mukherji), the female protagonist.
4. Salaam Namaste: This was his next hit with leading lady, Preity Zinta. Nick (Saif Ali Khan) and Ambi (Preity Zinta), do not like each other in their first meeting but eventually fall in love with one another, deciding to move in together. Again Saif’s comedy has been appreciated in the movie, gradually showcasing his humour to the audience.
5. Love Aaj Kal: Another romantic comedy-drama of Khan with Deepika Padukone as the leading actress. The film was a super hit again because of Saif’s humorous touch to the character and Deepika’s straightforward acting.
6. Cocktail: Yet another rom-com drama with trio Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and debutant Diana Penty. The crazy love triangle among the three characters surely makes the audience fall in love with the actors.
7. Go Goa Gone: The comic timings in this Zombie adventure comedy have been greatly applauded and have proved to be successful among the youth.

Darr Trivia - Did You Know?
Tumblr media
Yash Chopra had just come off a successful outing in the 1991 film Lamhe, and Shahrukh Khan had just completed a year in Bollywood. People are hoping to recreate their past successes generally don't take up many risks. But these two men were not like anybody else; they were both visionaries in their own rights. So, they decided to tread on a path that was somewhat unexplored in Bollywood till then. Yash Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan decided to make a film about a psychopathic obsessed lover without showing him in a negative vein. That's how Darr came to be, with Rahul becoming a career-defining role for the Badshah and Yash Chopra being credited as someone who made a star out of Shahrukh. But no matter how many times you might have watched the film, there must be some behind-the-scenes trivia that you don't know. Here is a list of 5 such occurrences that eventually made Darr the film that it is.
The Weather Was Not So Sunny
Sunny Deol, who played Sunil in the film, felt that director Yash Chopra did not do justice to what his role was on paper. He felt that even though his character was the positive one and he was a much bigger star at that time, it was the villain who was glorified in the film. When the film came out, all everyone talked about was Shah Rukh who was the proverbial villain. Needless to say, he held a grudge; so much so that he never worked with Yash Raj Films after that.
Not the First Choice, But Definitely the Best One
Yash Chopra offered the role of the psychopathic Rahul to a lot of actors like Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan, and Sanjay Dutt. When nothing really came through, he offered the role to Rishi Kapoor who did not want to play an out-and-out black character. He then suggested the name of Shah Rukh with whom he had worked with in Deewana. And the rest, of course, is history. Shah Rukh proved that there couldn't be a better Rahul than him.
When Bollywood inspired Hollywood
Generally, it's the other way around, and even that is an understatement. But back in the day, Darr inspired the 1996 Hollywood film Fear that starred Mark Wahlberg and Reese Witherspoon in leading roles.
What's in a Name?
Believe it or not, the name Darr was actually suggested by Hrithik Roshan. In fact, the idea of the film first reared its head when Uday Chopra, Yash Chopra's younger son, watched the 1989 film Dead Calm with friend Hrithik

Tumblr media
Known as the “King of Romance” Shahrukh Khan has created a niche for himself in the Bollywood industry, through sheer hard work and perseverance, although his great sense of humour and charming dimples just cannot be ignored.
His very first movie ‘Deewana’ hit the theatres almost 25 years ago, since then Shahrukh Khan has greatly evolved as an actor, human being, lover, husband, and father as well as an entertainer.
Here are some facts about the “Baadshah of Bollywood” that you may not be aware of-
In the initial years of his career, Shahrukh Khan played quite a few negative roles. In fact, he has played a negative role in a total of 6 movies. They are

The list of awards that Shahrukh Khan has won is never-ending. Till date, he has been roughly nominated for about 226 awards and has won a majority of them. In fact, he has won the award for the best actor about 29 times.
While Deewana is SRK’s debut film, it was actually going to be Dil Aashna Hai. But the release date of the film was delayed a bit, which is why Deewana is considered his very first film.
Without a doubt, Shahrukh Khan is one of the richest in the Bollywood industry, but his very first salary was about 50 rupees that he made in Delhi, working as an usher in a Pankaj Udhas concert. He spent the money to go and see the Taj Mahal.
Fans of Shahrukh Khan may not know that he is one of the few stars in Bollywood who is quite educated. He had a postgraduate degree in Mass Communication from Jamia Milia and wanted to make commercials.
His Grandmother had initially named him Abdul Rahman, but SRK’s father despised the name and changed it to Shahrukh Khan. Well, Shahrukh Khan, the star does sound much better than Abdul Rahman. Guess his father did have an idea that his son would later become a household name in the country.
