THE ERDBERG MIMIC

Hidden amongst the many cats that inhabit the DLH is a colony of creatures known as Erdberg mimics. Impossible to distinguish from the true cats while the sun is up, they take the forms of shadowy silhouettes under the moon, three-eyed and glowing faintly purple. Not much is known about them besides their origin—the neighbourhood of Erdberg in Vienna, Austria, where the physicist Schrödinger attempted to enact his famous cat-centric thought experiment using a cursed box passed down from his six times great grandma on his mother’s side. The result was the Erdberg mimic, a spectral, unworldly cat neither dead nor alive, walking the world as a living cat by day and a ghost by night. They have not made their goal in inhabiting Averno clear, but we shall see in time.

A “what’s in my bag” type thing, ANS version. All pictures except for the last two are mine. And yes, as usual, I went just a tad overboard. You all should be used to this by now. Also sorry for the meh quality of the pictures!

I have:

• either a copy of The Starless Sea, Circe, The Little Prince, a mythology book, or a poetry book on me at all times

• a sketchbook, two notebooks (one for writing, the second for poetry/songs/misc), and occasionally a small canvas

• my pencil case

• a little witching pouch with some crystals, a candle, some shells, a little bottle of salt, and my pendulum

• my D&D dice!

• my uke (soprano)

• a stuffed animal (this particular one is from @/strangelykatie ‘s (on Instagram) adorable graphic novel,,, and since this is Averno and therefore the ideal scenario I definitely own it)

concept playlists

flawed protagonist trying to be a hero: you’re the protagonist of the story and there are people around you who expect you to be the hero that they need, except you’re doing a poor job at it. with everything that’s going on in you’re life, the last thing you need right now is to save the world from the impending doom but it’s written in the stars that only you can prevent the destruction that the villain in you’re story will create and what matters is you’re trying, in spite of everything, you are trying.

villains who know how to dress: tired of the poor treatment they’ve been receiving they’re whole life, they decide to take matters in their own hands. this villain shares a parallel to your life. they tell you that only they can understand you and tries to implement their philosophical views on you, all while dressing fashionably.

enchanting; serene: you’re laying in an abandoned cathedral, you hear songs and melodies that sounds transcendental. you’re all alone in one of the most beautiful, enchanting places you’ve ever seen, and for the first time in you’re life that feels enough. this is the most peaceful you’ve ever been and you suddenly cry just thinking about it.

waltzing in castles: you’ve attended an annual ball that takes place in the largest castle known to humankind. you’re wearing your best dress, eating great food, looking at gorgeous arts, and dancing in your best shoes.

dancing in your bedroom: you had a bad day, you turn the music on and dance the night away in your bedroom. you’re shaking off all the bad moments that occurred today and you feel this sense of relief weighing in. it feels good to just dance like you’re having the time of your life.

**for panic attacks: if you’re ever experiencing a panic attack, i created a playlist that i hope might help in some way.

it’s the end of the world as we know it: the world is now in dystopian. whilst people in specific areas are doing their best to survive in a world that does not benefit them, there are people in other regions who thrive off of it. the world that we once knew may have ended, but that doesn’t mean capitalism died with it. while there are people living in such luxurious state, you’re here fending for yourself. you’re sick of the injustices and you yearn for a better life than this. a revolution is coming and songs will be sung about it.

there's magic within us: you wake up to a place you’ve never been, and you suddenly possess a power that’s meant for you. you’re suddenly thrown into a reality of mystical creatures and places.

once upon a dream: circumstances has led you to write letters to someone you don’t know who — until you soon discover it’s someone you despise, or someone you’re supposed to despise. through these letters you’ve fallen in love with that person and them to you. the problem is they don’t know that it is you whom they’re corresponding they’re letters to and it is through your insecurity that prevents you from revealing, creating a conflict that makes them believe it’s someone else. someone who isn’t you. what’s next?

i love you. most ardently: you finally know what they mean when they sing songs of falling in love. you’re finally in love and you’re loved back. you want to walk through grasslands just thinking about it.

literature & good music: you’re reading a good book whilst listening to good music and you’re having a dandy time.

exploring paris: you’re in paris. this is the first time you’ve ever traveled in your whole life. you roam around historic places from day to night. you continue to observe your surroundings, imagining the lives of people living in paris. everything feels wonderful.
