In the name of the governor of New Providence Island, the Honorable Woodes Rogers, "the time has come to bring a wayward child back into the fold," an island that rejected its parent empire, but that must long for the embrace of civilization once again. Be it proclaimed that any man on this island who will accept that embrace, who will renounce violence against the crown, who will renounce piracy, that man will be offered a full, complete, and unqualified pardon. No matter what you've done, no matter how irredeemable you believe it to be, your king and your governor wish to offer you a clean slate, a new beginning here in Nassau.

Aloïs listened to her; he was relieved that she was on the same page with him. “—- We are all unhappy till we find a way to enjoy ourselves. If it means.. capturing our childlike energy and innocence, then we will never fall into the traps of reality.” He laughs at her comment about biting her. “I am not that way. How I got to be this way… it is rather complicated. I could be considered a vampire but I am not sure. It was a gift from a significant other.” He didn’t wish to elaborate on the matter — for now.
In silence, he found a seat on the bench and began to fidget his hands. He was feeling many things at once. His eyes never made full eye contact with anyone or anything. It was going a million miles an hour. It was not intentional on his part to do this. It was a natural reaction and it was comforting. No matter how weird it may be. He put his hat beside him to protect where Kyleigh might sit. He was safeguarding it from others who might have a need to sit down.
@lunarruled
“I suppose so,” Alois shifts his weight between both feet. He is not phased by the differences between him and others. “Nice to meet you, Kyleigh.” He looks at her, removing his hat from the top of his head. Part of him wanted to play up the role, but he could not anymore. "I only am a ghost of my former self. I am not a Captain anymore. I am not even a King. I cling to my artistry and hope to play the role my creativity has given me." He takes a long pause to look around at the harbor and at the sea.
"Madame Kyleigh, to answer your question, it was not rough. It was on a private airline, and I found my way to the harbor. I suppose I have never grown up and still possess a childlike imagination. I died in my twenties, and I grew up before I could taste the rest of my childhood. I hope this does not discourage you from allowing me to join your company." His eyes find their way back to look at Kyleigh, but he looks rather pained.

"That we are standing in a room alone? Please, Madame, it is hardly a scandal." The man had his back to her. He was a very tall, lanky figure with his clothing tight to his body. Long, Dark Hair flowed down his back and shoulders. He spoke in a French dialect, his accent thickly coating each word. "We can stay here in silence while others dwell in a cartoon land of scandal."

Day 2: Agony
Alois shifts in his chair, looking at the sheet music with poetic words in French on the pages. “I don’t want to do this anymore,” he says aloud, looking down with a pained expression. The only other person in his office is Priscilla. The feline sat on the windowsill while the sound of carriages and talking heads went by. "This brings me great sadness, Priscilla. I look at these words, and I feel agony. I felt simple at these times and at my most creative. I want my spirit back. I want to feel something again. Something that I only can wish to dream about."
He looks at Priscilla, standing up from his chair to pet her. "You are my only source of happiness. The only childlike thing in my life. Something so simple. Something that will never hurt me." He leans over to press a kiss on the feline's head. "I want to sing for me. I want to feel music again. If I can't find that again, I lose myself. I lost myself in the grey and spread parts of myself across a sea of chaos." His hands slip underneath Priscilla to pick up and hold.
The faint meows from Priscilla make Alois smile, walk around with her briefly, and set her back on the windowsill. "Perhaps I need to find another way. Another way to find my muse again." He lays his fingers on the glass of the window. "Could I have truly lost who I am and allow myself to feed on the agony I experience?" He glances out the window at the town square and sighs. "I hate this so much, Priscilla. I don't have a compass to point me in the right direction."

BRIDGERTON S02E03, ‘A BEE IN YOUR BONNET’ SENTENCE STARTERS
change pronouns and gendered nouns as necessary.
now, now. there’ll be plenty of other opportunities.
it’s more about confidence than anything else.
you make it sound so easy.
nothing ever rattles you, does it?
you do know that you cannot show someone your best without allowing them to see your worst.
they’re quite lovely, are they not?
the damn thing stung me.
please don’t. do not leave me.
do you think _____ will like it?
perhaps by then, you will have an engagement to announce.
i shall be the very picture of amiability.
for goodness’ sake, ____. stop your pacing before you give me indigestion.
i’m sure you’ll find the gentlemen there very good company.
and since when has that ever created an issue?
you will charm him with some assistance.
oh, i am so pleased you were able to come.
she’s too busy reading to notice anything else, as usual.
enjoying your brief respite from the ferocious packs of marriage-minded young ladies, _____?
well, i cannot wait to meet the woman who has captured your heart.
tell me, what is she like?
is that a promise or a threat?
you’re smiling. i see my plan to win you over is already working.
i was smiling at the view, which you are now blocking.
mark my words, _____. by the end of your stay, your opinion of me will be much improved.
i did not think you such an optimist.
since your schemes to manipulate me are now out in the open, i suppose it would be an improvement, indeed.
i’m entirely flattered, ____.
i very much look forward to spending time with you and your family.
so you’re quite set on your decision, then, i take it?
i made my intentions clear.
you must know there is no need to hurry such a momentous occasion.
You should take the opportunity to get to know one another.
i only hope you are acting with a clear mind.
you have wanted me to marry for years. and now you suggest i wait?
what exactly are the rules of this game?
pall-mall is less about the rules, more about the goal.
it is a poor player who plays the game, and a wise one who plays their opponent.
i believe i shall rather enjoy this game.
he will strike when he thinks you are least suspecting it, so always be suspecting it.
i, of course, am a complete enigma who will divulge none of my secrets.
he’s usually the most genteel sportsman. except as far as this field is concerned.
are you often in that part of town? seems it is rather far from the fashionable side, is it not?
perhaps i might ask you the same thing. but i will not because i happen to believe a lady’s business is her own.
it’s meant to be a game, is it not?
you exaggerate.
are you the superstitious sort?
i know some men cannot perform without their familiar tools. like a child with a blanket.
you’ll find it gets easier.
your head is clearly elsewhere, _____.
yes, the season can be quite cutthroat.
you have the chance to best him.
that would not be very sportsmanlike, would it?
i was told unsportsmanlike conduct was a requirement for this game.
what do you say, _____? are you in a losing mood?
ah, is that so? you would bravely bear the crushing shame of defeat?
i shall, uh… join you if you like?
there is no need to spoil your fun on my account.
do you want my help or not?
it is not amusing.
i believe i… underestimated you, _____.
that seems to be the theme of our acquaintance, does it not?
well, since we are long past formalities… tell me frankly. what must i do to win your approval?
she will be amusing company at dinner.
i know what well is, and this is not well.
he cannot do this. i will not allow it. you stop him.
i told you, you may not speak to him.
it is not your choice to make. it is mine.
flutter it so, to draw his eyes to your bosom. and remember to laugh at his jokes.
every man wishes to be thought a sharp wit.
you have an interest in travel?
do i need a reason to enjoy their company?
i do hope the afternoon was not too taxing for you.
you do express yourself so agreeably, _____. it is refreshing and rare indeed.
i myself am fortunate to have found a love of literature, but also of learning as well.
i must admit to you. the only books i have read this year are ledgers of the estate’s accounts. and, um, they’re all dreadfully boring.
it is perfect, then. you are much too busy to read, and i am very much in need of someone to tell about my stories.
i so enjoy talking of books.
well, uh, i… i only hope his intentions were genuine and nothing less.
who are you, and what have you done with my brother?
what exactly are your objections?
if you say she is the one in whose presence you cannot properly think, or even… or even breathe. if you say you feel that feeling.
all those years traveling, you have not been tempted to marry?
could you stop your interruptions?
might i ask you for the honor of your company for a promenade?
it only takes the smallest of doses to feel the effects.
or perhaps it will allow you to escape the thoughts that’ve been plaguing your mind.
you must not let the game of pall-mall dismay you. antagonism is, i’m afraid, what you must expect.
was it your choice you never married?
my brothers tell me i have a habit of being rather direct.
everyone tells me it is fate worse than death to end up a spinster.
the world is not exactly welcoming to an unmarried woman. there seems to be no place in society for us, except at the edge of things.
that rather seems to be society’s flaw, not a woman’s.
now i’m making myself useful with embroidery.
perhaps join us for family dinner?
i know this is hard. i know you miss him. but we all miss him.
_____, this is it. this is my best. i am doing my best.
i feel even sorrier for myself because, most of the time, all i am thinking is that this little baby did not do me the kindness of killing me so that I could be with my husband.
_____ was the air that i breathed. and now there is no air.
i hate to see you like this. so weighed down.
i’m fulfilling my duty to this family, _____. that is what takes precedence above all else.
i know that is what you want too. i know that, deep down, it is what you have always wanted.
you’re quite certain how well you know me.
you deserve the feeling that i had the moment _____ placed that ring on my finger.
i could never be the cause of such pain, no matter how cruel and hard-hearted everyone else may find me to be.
the buzz of the city is thrilling indeed, but i quite enjoy the peace of the country.
_____, dear, you alarm our guests.
it has certainly been a privilege to truly make your acquaintance these past days.
you must know you did nothing wrong.
surely, if _____ were to propose, he’d have done it by now. yes? what if i have missed my chance?
i have bungled this entire affair. and now i feel like a fool.
i knew he would only end up hurting you. come here.
you are the diamond of the season. there is nary a gentleman back in london who does not wish for your hand. you have choices, _____.
you were right. i’ve allowed my doubts to plague me for too long.
you are a fatwit.
you shall all bear witness to my talents!
shh! it’s the middle of the night!
he will be as insufferable now as you.
are you ladies not always writing letters?
funny how distance is no match for memory, is it not?
well, devil if i know.
it is your job to be observant, is it not?
i think we can be of use to one another.
so your feelings are too strong for you now?
all you are doing, _____, is toying with the emotions of an impressionable young lady.
i can assure you, happiness is not your strength. exasperation, perhaps. fixation, most definitely.
the only feeling you are, in fact, capable of engendering, my lord, is that of discontent.
do not tell me what to do!
it is only a bee - ow!
i am unharmed. it was just a bee.

“we’ll have to marry.”
“how much wine have you drunk?”

“good. i see you agree with me that this is a superior idea.”
“thank god i’m marrying you.”

Aloïs lays her eyes on her, keeping his distance between her and him. He wasn’t about to make this Madame uncomfortable. He could do that enough by simply dressing up a certain way or doing something that society could not comprehend. “I am not a Lord, Madame. I’m simply a man who was gifted an opportunity to embark on this journey through the season. I am an immigrant from France. My name is Aloïs Chevalier.” He nods his head to Francesca before he answers her question.
“Music?” He presses his lips together for a moment. “I love it. I have played the piano and learned how to sing in operatic tones. Classically trained..” He was beginning to smile, “I am thankful for my teachers and my own hard work. My tutors..” His brows knit together, “Firm hands and no shame in degradation of my soul..” He clears his throat to swallow his emotions.
His sunken eyes flicker to look at the dancing and disaster of courtship. “I have watched you dance. I have watched you shy away from suitors. I wouldn’t mind company. We don’t have to talk. Facial expressions and nonverbal gestures mean everything. You are going to find your way through this season.” He softly smiled, looking at Francesca, “Maybe one day, you can play for me. I would like to hear it, and possibly you can hear me sing.”
He continues to be near her, but the words to continue conversation have fallen away. It didn’t occur to him that he was a looming figure over a sea of people. That he was dressed up much like the girl before him. His long, dark hair lay on his shoulders and back. A mustache and goatee framed his mouth. A dark burgundy gown clung to his very tall, thin figure while a black fur coat laid on his broad shoulders.
Something about silence and discussion of interests that makes him feel like himself made him forget. He was at peace with his decision to stay. Even if it was away from the bustle of the ball.

@bloodiedsails ; you do not know me. what do you want to know about me? (For Francesca)
Tumblr media
Amongst a constant string of suitors and dances, Francesca had found her interest in the social season already... waning. With her last two seasons being spent in the country, at home with her music and peace, it was difficult to find much thrill in awkward dances and stilted conversation.
Especially when most potential suitors only saw her as an object. Attempted to judge her purity, her value in terms of the marriage mart. No room for genuine conversation, only peering eyes and uncomfortable words.
Tumblr media
Yet, the man stood before her was not interested in her ability to bare children, or how she might look upon his arm. He wanted to her to ask questions rather than solely him – an equivalent exchange.
Her gaze lifts from the floor to his eyes for a moment, smile shifting into something more warm, rather simply a polite farce. A moment of thought, more a courtesy since her interests were rather.. narrowed.
❝ I'd like to know your opinions on music, my Lord. ❞ Francesca responds, something near to excitement thrumming beneath her skin. ❝ I have a considerable fondness for the pianoforte myself, I have since I was a girl. ❞

Taylor Swift — Lover Album  {Sentence Starters}
“But what if I do?”
“I think he knows.”
“It’s a cruel summer.”
“Darling, I’m scared…”
“Must’ve taken all night.”
“Help me hold onto you.”
“I forgot that you existed.”
“Can I go where you go?“
“You need to calm down.”
“It’s nice to have a friend.”
“You know that I bought it.”
“All of my heroes die all alone.”
“Darling, you’re the one I want.”
“Can you see right through me?“
“I get drunk, but it’s not enough.”
“Said, ‘I’m fine,’ but it wasn’t true.”
“I thought you were leading me on.”
“I know I never think before I jump.”
“I never want to see you walk away.”
“This is our place, we make the rules.”
“I can’t talk to you when you’re like this.”
“It’s you and me, that’s my whole world.”
“Thought I had reason to attack, but no.”
“Devils roll the dice, angels roll their eyes.”
“You know I adore you, I’m crazier for you.”
“I know delusion when I see it in the mirror.”
“My love was as cruel as the cities I lived in.”
“It isn’t love, it isn’t hate, it’s just indifference.”
“I don’t wanna keep secrets just to keep you.”
“Saying goodbye is death by a thousand cuts.”
“You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.”
“You said it was a great love, one for the ages.”
“And I thought that it would kill me, but it didn’t.”
“I’m always waiting for you to be waiting below.”
“But it’s not what I meant… sorry that I hurt you.”
“I promise that you’ll never find another like me.”
“What doesn’t kill me makes me want you more.”
“You’ve been stressed out lately… yeah, me, too.”
“And I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends.”
“But then something happened one magical night…”
“I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings.”
“There are so many lines that I’ve crossed, unforgiven.”
“We say that we’ll just screw it up in these trying times.”
“Who could ever leave me darling… but who could stay?”
“We were crazy to think… crazy to think that this could work.”
“I’ve got a hundred thrown out speeches I almost said to you.”
“I don’t wanna think of anything else, now that I thought of you.”
“I know heaven’s a thing. I go there when you touch me, honey.”
“They say home is where the heart is, but that’s not where mine lives.”
“I’m the one who burned us down. But it’s not what I meant… sorry that I hurt you.”
