6 WEDDING FLOWER TRENDS FOR 2019
The choice of a wedding bouquet is influenced not only by the season and style of the wedding but also by the trends of certain forms, colours and floristic content. What will be the bridal bouquets this season? Learn more with us!
1. Small bouquet
A trend is minimalism and convenience. And it's not just about the decor or choice of clothes, but also about floristics. A small bouquet will help to emphasize the tenderness of the image, and you definitely will not get tired of holding it in your hands all day.
2. Coral palette
According to the Pantone version, the colour of “live coral” becomes the colour of 2019, which means that in the new wedding season, we are waiting for bouquets in a delicate and summery coral palette! A great addition to a light wedding.
3. Ombre effect
Gentle, like watercolour, will be more relevant than ever in 2019. Just look how romantic and sophisticated the bouquets look in the effect of ombre!
4. Garden style
Lush buds, a large amount of greenery and a free form - a romance beloved by many brides in a modern interpretation.
5. Mono bouquets
Simple, elegant mono bouquets are what you need for a modern wedding. But keep in mind that such a bouquet dictates the choice and the rest of the wedding floristics.
6. One colour accent
One colour accent trend is the continuation of the theme of minimalism in 2019 but in a more refined and elegant interpretation. Bouquet form - free, almost no greens are used.
At the centre of the bouquet, there are white flowers, filled with only one colour accent. If garden floristics seems too lush to you, and minimalism is too strict, this idea is for you!

Top 4 most beautiful mountains of Armenia
Armenia, one of the most mountainous countries in the whole world, is ready to make you fall in love with every inch of it! Let’s discover the most beautiful mountains of Armenia together.
1. Mount Ararat
The slopes of the biblical mountain, which is an extinct volcano, are mostly deserted and littered with fragments of Cenozoic basalt - traces of weathered lava flows.
For the same reason, the surface of Ararat is extremely dry: thawed glacial waters are quickly absorbed into porous volcanic rocks, which, naturally, does not contribute to the riot of natural colours.
Ararat consists of two peaks - Western, or Big Ararat (5165 meters) and East, or Small (3925 meters). The Ararat mountain range is located on the right bank of the Araks River, near the border with Armenia, and is clearly visible from Yerevan.
Ararat is a sacred mount where Noah's ark landed and which is imprisoned by the Turkish government, so let’s hope that someday it will be returned to its motherland Armenia.
Tumblr media
2. Mount Aragats
Aragats, a solitary extinct volcano, is the highest mountain on the territory of modern Armenia and the Transcaucasus. This remarkable monument of nature is located at 40 ° 32 east longitude, its central elevation covers an area of more than 820 square kilometres.
In prehistoric times, a volcanic eruption accompanied by an explosion destroyed the top of the mountain.
A folk legend is associated with Aragats, according to which St. Grigor Lusavorich (Gregory the Illuminator) ascended to its top to perform prayers, while at night an unquenchable lamp shone to him, hanging straight from heaven. Legend claims that even now this lamp shines at night, but only sacred people can see it.
The beautiful landscape of the foothills and mountain belts, numerous cultural monuments on its slopes make it possible to classify Aragats among the most interesting peaks attractive for lovers of travel and alpine ascents. To the tops of the mountains, several climbing routes are laid.
Tumblr media
3. Mount Azhdahak
One can reach the foot of the highest point of the Gegham mountain range Azhdahak (3597m) either by an all-wheel-drive car in summer or on foot all year round on a plateau extending to the left of the Azat river canyon.
On the slopes of the Gegham Range and at the foot of Azhdak, you can see stone sculptures in the form of fish — dragon (vishaps in Armenian), patrons of agriculture and cattle breeding, and thousands of rock paintings, the oldest of which date from V-IV millennium BC.
Tumblr media
4. Mount Ara
In the “History” of Movses Khorenatsi (V c.) There is an amazing story about the Armenian king Ara the Beautiful: Assyrian queen Shammuramat (Semiramis, in Armenian Shamiram) was deeply in love with this handsome king.
Many historians are inclined to believe that Ara the Beautiful is the founder of the United Armenian kingdom, the first Armenian ruler who bore the title of “king of kings”, which should be understood as overlord over the rest of the Ararat kingdom.
Heard about the extraordinary beauty of the Armenian king, Shamiram-Semiramis wanted to achieve his love and, being widowed, sent an embassy to Armenia.

Tumblr media
Need to find peace and heal yourself in the quiet? Not too far from the town of Dilijan, Haghartsin is a must place to visit. It is one of Armenia’s most famous monasteries, where amazing nature and the beautiful architecture combine perfectly.
WHERE IS IT LOCATED?
Being part of the Tavush region, it should come as no surprise that Haghartsin is located near mountains and trees. Armenians like to build churches virtually everywhere, be it a town, or out in the nature; it usually turns out to be a mesmerizing piece of work. And Haghartsin is no exception.
The beauty of Tavush’s nature is something to see with your eyes and to experience for yourself. Standing in front of so many trees and mountains with a view of a monastery complex in front of you, feels like you are almost in a movie. You feel small yet powerful to be standing between two masterpieces - the nature and the building’s architecture.
The closest town is Dilijan, and the Haghartsin Dilijan distance is about 15 minutes by car (around 12 km).
HISTORY
Built in the 12-13th century, Haghartsin monastery complex will impress you with its ancient history.
The legend says that the way it gained the name Haghartsin was for the two main roots “hagh” which means game and “artsiv” which means eagle in Armenian. It is believed that an eagle was flying above the dome of the monastery, and playing around it, and that is how the name was derived.
As an ancient monastery, Haghartsin has undergone through a major renovation in 2011. It now has clearly paved road leading to it, gift shops are around, and it is way easier to take a short trip to the monastery, if you are staying nearby in Dilijan.
STRUCTURE
The Haghartsin monastery consists of three churches: Saint Astvatsatsin (the main church), Saint Stepanos and Saint Grigor. Saint Astvatsatsin has a layout of looking like a cross. It has adopted the style of an Armenian domed church, rising with four arches, with no columns.
The monastery also has two gavits (one being severely ruined), chapels and some cross stones (khachkars).Be sure to also check out the most fascinating part of the monastery - the refectory.
No matter time of the year it is, Haghartsin is always a great idea to visit and reflect in the nature. This beautiful monastery with an impressive architecture is also a treat for a curious mind. WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT ARMENIAN SACRED ARCHITECTURE?
Tumblr media
For such a small country, Armenia has countless examples of breathtaking architecture, each distinctive and different from one another. The country has been around since the beginning of time, and it is fascinating to see the changes in Armenian architecture throughout the centuries. Welcome to the wonderful mix of the old and the new!
ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE
Armenian ancient architecture goes back to as far as 9th century BC to the Urartian period. The buildings from this era are mostly ruined but have remains as tourist attractions. The only architecture piece standing strong is the Garni pagan temple (the dominant view is that it was built in 77 AD) which has gone through major reconstruction. From the outside, the buildings looked rich and almost perfectly built. Inside, the decorations were the main pillar of the buildings.
As this historical time is on the same era as the bloom of Greco Roman architecture, many of the architecture pieces were influenced by their style. However, as Armenians adopted Christianity in 301 AC, the new churches brought with them a breath of fresh air.
MEDIEVAL CHURCHES
The new medieval churches became more distinctive in their structure. Many of the churches had pointed domes, as in the volcanic cone of the Greater Ararat. Some of them had semi-pointed domes that are also clearly concentrated more on the height than the length of the church, so the it is usually exceeding the length. The windows are very much narrow and tall, and the main material to build these churches are basalt and tuff. Carvings on Armenian churches are just beautiful - they are usually sentences, or ornates, such as grapevine and foliage.
A great showcase example of a medieval church is the Ejmiatsin Cathedral. The biggest and the main center of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the cathedral is considered to be a masterpiece not just for Armenian architecture, but it glows among others in the world. It was originally believed to have been built in the 4th century, then renovated and modified in the 17th and lastly undergone some changes in the nineteenth century. So, it collects the influence of many time periods in the Armenian architecture, just like many other churches do in the country.
MODERN DAY CHURCHES
Nowadays, the churches of Armenia have mainly adopted what was initially built in the medieval times, with slight touches of modern architecture influence. Check out the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Yerevan. This huge building consists of the Main Church, two chapels, and a belfry tower. Just like many of the churches in the country, it is built on a high altitude, proudly looking down the city from high above.
Whether you are visiting Armenia for museums, for churches or even just nature, the country will impress with its ancient style buildings and their influence on the modern day architecture. The country’s unique history defines the mesmerizing cathedrals and monasteries it has to offer in every corner. Feel the spirit of the old and the modern - book your tour with us at Caucasus Holidays!

Khachkars
Khachkars are Armenian stone crosses, hand-carved from tuff. Each khachkar has its own pattern, its own ornament, its own history dating back to the depths of centuries. Historically, khachkars decorated graves in cemeteries but were also used (and are used) for decorating religious and cultural objects.
For carving khachkars, there is a strong need of the master, the talent and a lot of time. No other nation in the world used such a powerful and long way to express their faith in God.
At the bottom of the khachkar you can see a symbol of the sun or a sign of eternity, over which, in the centre of it, a cross is carved - a symbol of the crucifixion of Christ.
The khachkar itself is usually surrounded by 5 patterns or images of grapes and leaves. It is typical for Armenian khachkars to depict branches of the tree, symbolizing the Resurrection of Christ.
