[ rest ]
@acherys || [ rest ] your muse resting their arm over mine’s shoulder / s .
          Wariness has become second nature.  While he no longer can distinguish faces, he is, at any point, intimately aware of any nearby presence, and while there are some who may slip beneath his notice -- once upon a time, he had made a living as one of those -- others do not stand a chance.  He cannot see them, not as once he could, but he can feel them.  An approaching figure had garnered attention, and every stride forward left familiar chill across his skin, one born of an unnatural presence in his own.  Oh, make no mistake, he is well accustomed to the unnatural, and as of late, this particular brand of it had become commonplace.  Alarin reads it loud and clear as the icy company of a death knight.  A human death knight, as it were.
          And isn’t that wonderful.
          There is no love lost upon them, the Knights of Acherus, nor does he feel any pang of regret for limiting contact with the lot of them, despite the fact many were now considered his allies.  Even so, in a strange way, there is a sense of...camaraderie, hardly in the traditional sense, but formed on the mistrust -- or, shall he say, tentative trust, of their peers.  He and his have been on the receiving end of that as well, for some reasons not entirely different from those attributed to death knights, so civility comes easily to him.  That courtesy extends to anyone, regardless of race or affiliation, so long as no reason is given to retract it.  But, when boundaries are pushed, he owes nothing to the offending party, a fact few have had to learn the harsh way.
        Proximity drives the chill into his bones the mere second before contact is made; the weight an arm over shoulders and the press of undeath at his side.  Such nearness was not appreciated all on its own.  Add to it the cold, and it’s taking every ounce of control he has not to jolt away.  Instead, he shrugs to sever the connection, twisting away from the hold to bring them face-to-face.  Head tipped, their eyes would have met, were such a thing possible, holding a would-be stare.

Bold what applies to your muse & Repost.
Chipped nail polish. Glitter highlights. Tall trees with smooth bark. Tangled hair. Cinnamon sugar. Talking too loud and too fast. Overgrown flowers in your hair. Crumbling buildings reclaimed by nature. Flirting. Walking home at three AM with no coat. Platonic hand holding. Blowing smoke out of your nose. Dragonfly wings. Chaotic good. Freckles. Fairy rings. Secret meetings. Gender nonconformity. Leather. Smudged eyeliner. Forbidden fruit. THE REAPER. Computer errors. A shiver down your spine. Haunting beauty. Hard liquor. Crowns of thorns. Shadowed alleyways. Decaying plant matter. Shattered mirrors and broken glass. Corrupted memories. Stopped clocks. The scent of stale cigarettes. Tattered black hoodies. Walking your friends home. The crescent moon. The sea. A graveyard on a foggy day. Cold rings on cold fingers. Absolution. Looking out the window of an airplane. Soft kisses. THE WITCH. Graffiti. Pretending to know what you’re doing. Worn paperback books. Growing up too fast. Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme. Lace and combat boots. Moth wings. Candles on every surface. A weathered deck of cards. Turning the music up. Fireflies in jars. Calloused fingers. Drawing on your skin. Sunlight filtering through clouds. Petrichor. A dying rose in a jar. Wearing a crystal pendant. Illusions of spells. Black cats. Mint gum. Chapped lips. Dirt under your fingernails. The cycle of life and death. THE WOLF. Murders of crows. Frostbitten leaves. Wolves howling at midnight. Knocking on your door. Leaving food out for stray animals. The twang of an acoustic guitar. Honey. Tiny red buds on trees. Claw marks on the walls. Golden eyes. Slightly too-long stubble. Knitted fingerless gloves. Sleeping on the forest floor. Always finding your way back home.

“ What did you see? What did it look like?”
To anyone it would seem the normal inquiry when one considers the circumstances.  Faced with the unknown,  dealing only with those who had dealt with it prior, the wise ask just such things.  Never once has it done harm to have an idea of what may lie ahead, what one may encounter and perhaps how to escape said encounter in one piece.  A good start is knowing what the assailant looks like.  However, the observant ask them to someone else, preferably someone who would be able to provide the details they seek.
Alas, he has grown accustomed to situations like this.  Clawed fingers fold lightly against his palm, a fel-pocked cheek resting against the resulting fist, his elbow propped upon his knee.  For a moment, the demon hunter remains silent, studying the blotch of yellow flooding his spectral vision.  From what Alarin has gathered on this one, words tend to fly out of his mouth long before they pass through his brain for analysis.  It’s…amusing, he’ll admit.  He has to find humor in slip-ups like this, else he’ll wind up in a permanent state of annoyance, a state which is looming so close he can touch it but has yet to take root, and he would prefer to keep it that way a while longer.

"How do I know you won't just stab me in the back?"
Such a strange being, this one.  Perhaps it is all in his head; perhaps the persistent demon intertwined in his soul had finally driven him mad, for it seems no matter how loud this…man could be, no matter the moves he made, no one else paid mind, almost as if those around him could not see him.  Maybe they couldn’t.  Maybe he was indeed a figment of Alarin’s imagination, and the fact that he’d stood in the city’s back alley talking to him is a testament to his own insanity.  But then again, with his spectral sight he is privy to images otherwise unnoticed to much of the mortal populace, so it’s hard to tell.  By the conclusion of their business, when their deal went into play and he saw what this stranger was capable of and his intentions, he’d know for sure.  Or, so he hopes.
Leaned against a building, arms folded over his chest, the Illidari rolls his shoulders, leather creaking softly beneath the simple action.  The question settles in mind, and he cannot help the smirk that curls his lips.  It is a fair inquiry, perhaps one he too should ask.  Ah, but he knows better than to let his guard down in the slightest.  He’ll not give this man an ounce of trust until he knows for sure it’s warranted.  The stranger may be wise to do the same.
Tumblr media
“You don’t.”  Just as he cannot be sure the same fate does not await him.  Indeed his nerves are alight, but he takes care to mask it.  There is no hurry, no tension, no hesitance as he pushes off the wall.  His steps border on lazy as he approaches his glaives…but though clawed fingers itch to reach for them, he refrains, instead fixating on the pulsing yellow outline across the way.  “All you have is my word: so long as you mind yourself, you’ve nothing to fear from me.”

Role play blogs aren’t just about cliques and it shouldn’t be about who you’ve known the longest either. Well it should be but also- there are a lot of shy cinnamon rolls out there waiting for you. But they don’t know that you can vibe with them right off the bat if they’d only send in a meme or a starter or something!
So reblog if you’re the type of blog that is open to NEW friendships even if you are already connected to old ones. New friendships mean new experiences and more people to talk about your muse’s together. This is a clique free blog despite the people who love sending me in asks and there’s much love for them but I’ve also got love waiting for you if only you’d send that one message.
