She smiles and it is a warm smile that raises her cheekbones, tugging at the faint wrinkles forming as she ages. There is always a light that flickers within her eyes when she is talking to someone young, listening to their perception of the world and in some cases - guiding it. T34 believes Sh1k4 is the type of good influence that Dox needs in his life. Even she, somewhere within herself, suspects she’s not the proper influence he should have. She is a decent substitute, but T34 knows she is too sharp around the edges. Too stubborn, too VIOLENT at her core. No one could say she had been a GOOD person.

Hopefully Dox’s nature would not be too harsh on the boy. There were too many razor edges, somewhere the balance had to provide a softened edge. Not even a dull edge like her, but something truly flexible. Balanced.

T34 has already shifted her arm from his head and she moves to give a careful pulse of his elbow. It is a gentle touch, rather an affectionate attempt to present her excitement which her voice is hardly able to convey at times. ❝I wouldn’t mind that…❞ she answers, wistfully remembering the times she had watched Soon-yi attempt to garden. Bless the poor girl and her black thumb. She never did get the flowers to stay alive.

     “ i wouldn’t invite you if i didn’t WANT you to come along, ”  he assures her with a shake of his head. it’s nice to have company that isn’t dox  ―  not that he doesn’t love dox, it’s just that... his harsh personality can wear on you at times. plus, shika likes being able to share his gardening ventures with those he cares about. it’s something he struggles with at times, old habits of keeping things to himself for lack of anyone else CARING, but he’s gotten a lot better at it over the years.

     “ a change in routine is nice sometimes. dox might just make you and i go without him, actually. it seems like he always gets bored REALLY FAST, he might like the break.  ”  no malice marks his words, the thought is simply matter-of-fact: dox is the one to take him to the gardens most days, having had to take over that job after gage disappeared, so it’d make sense if he wanted a chance to have some free time to himself. PLUS, si-u wouldn’t mind the opportunity to get to know tea a little better, she’s still such a mystery.

     “ he might even thank you. ”  a snicker of laughter comes with the joke, the boy knowing FULL WELL how that won’t be the case, regardless of how grateful the man may or may not be. pushing himself up from his seat, shika turns to tea with a soft grin and turns the subject away from his caretaker.  “ have you been to the gardens before? ”

  deft fingers run along the spreading stems and leaves of a small plant, checking on its growth. a small quirk of amusement sits across si-u’s lips, recognizing how SILLY the words might sound to some people. but some people like to have more ADVENTURE than he does. a shrug, his focus never straying from the young herb he’s been trying to grow on his own.

     “ there’s a good type of boring, i think. like... a peaceful, content boring? ”  there’s an upward inflection to the words, an UNCERTAINTY on whether that makes sense to anyone but himself. he thinks that’s the right way of putting it, though.  “ too much excitement hasn’t ever sat that well with me. but i think some people don’t think about there being such a thing as bad excitement, like how you don’t usually think about there being a good boring. ”
