Cheating as Plot Point
A character cheats on their partner, often for the drama and because they “couldn’t help it”
Propaganda:
It feeds into the heteronormative idea that men and women cannot be friends without falling in love with each other, also the idea that “you can’t help/stop/control yourself” when it comes to sex. Also it’s just really shitty and annoying, like why are you acting like this?? How hard is it to stay committed to your partner????? Why do they keep making couples cheat on their partners, like I get that it’s for the drama, but it honestly makes me angry and makes me turn off the show or movie.
All Just a Dream
The reveal that a certain plotline was all a dream.
Propaganda:
It immediately kills all stakes, breaks audience immersion, and basically makes the case 'you should never have been invested in that plotline'. An incredibly unsatisfying ending. / It's just so lazy and makes everything pointless! What changed? Everyone is exactly the same as before the story. Not to mention that's not how dreams work, unless you immediately write it down you're gonna forget the vast majority of the dream really quick, if you even remember it at all. And dreams are messy and don't make sense, they jump from location to location and don't follow a coherent plot. If a character is dreaming, it should be very obvious because they're so different from reality.

It’s in Fire Emblem, it’s in kid media like Cardcaptor Sakura, it’s in the present AND backstory of many a romance…. And it’s always creepiness treated as a sweet ideal. Ick.
Born Sexy Yesterday
basically, it's a woman in media who's like a child in the way that they interact w/ the world, like inexperienced or innocent and misunderstanding. but they're still treated as sexy and hot and all.
this trope is predatory and weird asf, it treats women like infants and tries to make it sexy and endearing. it's gross.
woman is supposed to be hotter bc she's childlike and ignorant...gross!

And sometimes they will dull down what made her who she was in the first place

Mainly a thing in animation (tho comes up in CGI in otherwise live action movies or w/e). the male of an animal species will range from somewhat anthropomorphic to looking pretty much like a normal animal, but the female of (supposedly) the same species will be extremely anthropomorphised & sexualised. often includes long hair on the head, heavy makeup, and boobs where the animals they are supposed to represent usually have none of those, and the males usually don't have any either

UGH. can a female not exist without being a sexy sex doll? can a female not be hairy and animalistic like the male counterparts? can a female not have ANY interesting design features/ any design at all except 'sexy'??? CAN A FEMALE ANIMAL LOOK LIKE A FUCKING ANIMAL PLEASE. IF YOU'RE GRANTING THE MALES THAT GRACE WHY NOT EXTEND IT TO THE FEMALES JFC. IS THE ONLY PURPOSE OF A FEMALE CHARACTER OF ANY KIND TO BE SEXY TO THE AUDIENCE??? IS IT????? (also they just always look terrible like c'mon that thing is meant to be attractive somehow? to be visually pleasing to you somehow?? (sorry)
gotta slap a bow and eyelashes on to Girl character design bc god forbid we can't tell the boy and girl bunny/lion/deer apart!!!
Aside from the obvious sleazy aspect, it is also, in my opinion as a working character designer, deeply uninspired and often a symptom of a lack of real consideration going into the designs and/or world-building.
What Measure Is a Mook
The hero shows mercy to the characterized villain, but not to their nameless henchmen.

Sexual Harassment as Flirting
Ok so when there’s some YA romance/thriller type of book/media, there’s this very very common trope where the main girl is in a love triangle, and one guy is nice and/or has the personality of a sheet of cardboard, and the other guy is just. Awful. An absolute horrible human being. And at first the girl doesn’t like him because (as I said) he’s just a really horrible person (either horrible to her specifically (in the “boy pulling a girl’s pigtails because he’s got a crush on her” sort of way, but up it to 100 and throw in some sexual harassment because the characters are adults), or he’s horrible to everyone (in a violent or cruel bullying sort of way) but still singles her out). But then. For absolutely no reason. She decides that she likes him (because he’s hot, because that’s the only thing he’s got going for him.) and they end up as the end goal couple at the end of the story.
Propaganda:
dunno why anyone would find someone like that hot but whatever floats your boat I guess. But whether or not he’s hot is up for the audience to decide. The real mystery is why the in-story victim of his harassment is suddenly so attracted to him. I’d call it Stockholm syndrome but I’m not a psychologist TL;DR Stockholm syndrome isn’t hot and bullying isn’t flirting

Dogged Nice Guy
Persistent friendliness used in the hopes of making the object of a character's affections fall in love with them.
Propaganda:
It isn't cute or funny. It's plain annoying actually. The idea that someone deserves the person they want just because they're 'nice' is gross and objectifying, and the trope pushes the idea of "No means Yes/Try Harder" and makes the person the Nice Guy wants seem either stupid or mean, depending on whether or not the Nice Guy will get over them at the end, when the person inevitable decided they want the weirdo that can't take no for an answer or show them basic respect, because all that's O.K if they're "Nice". Of course it isn't nice at all. It's a case of Show but Tell The Opposite and hope people just believe it. Portraying someone as sympathetic and sad doesn't work when they're a detestable creep.
