summer vibes ;
starter for @noelxbe !
sana loves the beach. memorial day doesn't exist in korea, but the last week of may is still what sana considers the beginning of summer. she spends it reaching out to friends, inviting them to the beach with her, but everyone's either working or already has other plans. thankfully, though, noel came through, so on the last saturday in may, the two of them are on a train together.
she wears a flowy sundress over her swimsuit, plus oversized sunglasses and a wide-brimmed sun hat. in the seat next to her is a purple tote bag, full of sunscreen, snacks, and towels. she also has a change of clothes tucked into the bottom of the bag -- they'll have to take the train back, after all, or call a rideshare, and she doesn't want to be wearing a wet swimsuit the whole way back.
she glances out the window, bouncing slightly in her seat when she catches a glimpse of the ocean. "we're almost there! what do you want to do first?" she asks noel, turning to face him with a bright smile.

learning new things ;
starter for @beseira !
sana has been a chronic job-hopper since she graduated high school. she knows it's not a great habit, but she can't help it, really. she just gets bored. going to the same place and doing the same things every day when they're not things she wants to do is just hard for her; after a few months, without fail, she ends up quitting, regardless of the job.
she's had a few food service jobs before -- waitress, delivery girl, a couple takeout places, but she's never been a barista. she likes coffee, and this cafe isn't too far from her apartment, so when she saw they were hiring she went ahead and quit at the grocery store she's been at for the last few months. that was about all that went into the decision. she's never really been strapped for money, with her parents still helping pay most of her bills, so she really just works to have spending money on her various incredibly expensive hobbies.
she walks into the cafe in a simple outfit, just a t-shirt and jeans with the sturdy tennis shoes she uses exclusively for her part-time jobs. her hair is up in a high ponytail, and her makeup is simple and natural -- though it did still take her twenty minutes to do it. she knows the value of a good first impression, after all.
she bows to the person at the counter as she approaches. "hi, my name is izumi sana. i'm supposed to start work today?"

in pelican town ;
starter for @bexsua !
sana checks her bag before leaving the apartment, making sure she has everything she needs. she and sua are planning on just hanging out and playing stardew today, but there's always a chance they'll decide to do a random stream together or just switch to a different game, so sana has both her laptop and her switch, as well as their respective and her little bag of what she calls the miscellaneous stuff -- a spare hdmi cord, phone charger, her spare joy cons, things like that. she's pretty laid back about most things, but she takes gaming seriously. she doesn't want to have a craving for mario kart and not have enough controllers or something.
she makes her way to sua's place, all her various electronics packed carefully in her backpack and her headphones in. she just has all her liked songs on shuffle, like she usually does when she can't decide what she wants to listen to, and she entertains herself with the wild difference that comes from having cherish, b.e.t, and other kpop groups on the same playlist as anime openings, taylor swift, and fall out boy. she does mouth the words along to basically every song, though, making her wonder if the reason she's so bad at school is because her brain is too full of random lyrics.
she finally arrives at sua's and knocks, bouncing on her feet even as the door opens. "ready for some stardew?" she asks her friend, grinning widely as she puts her headphones in her pocket.

into the DELTAVERSE - huang lucy ver! -------skills showcased: dancing & choreography - insp
lucy is so incredibly nervous about this audition. however, she's had a lot of practice dealing with her own anxiety, and she knows what she's good at. she's definitely not the strongest singer to audition, and she's likely not even going to be the strongest dancer.
she does, however, have charm.
she designs her dance around that, around showcasing her energy, her charm, her excitement. she channels her nerves into that same excitement, letting herself smile and have fun with the choreography throughout her practice sessions.
she only gives herself a week of practice, though she does so daily, even if she can't make it to the dance studio every day. regardless of her schedule, she finds time to run through the motions of her choreography every day, be it in her bedroom, in the kitchen making breakfast, or even in the shower. she can't do the full dance like that, of course, but she can practice the smaller moves and can make sure she remembers the order of everything.
she even spends her commutes watching videos of her previous practices, committing the dance to memory and making note of places she can improve for the actual audition video.
she doesn't let herself think about her chances. she doesn't let herself consider how many talented people must be auditioning, or how few people will likely succeed. she can't think about the numbers, can't think about the likelihood of success -- all she can focus on is doing her absolute best to show off her charm and the talent she does have.
when the time comes to finally film the video, lucy does as many takes as she can without passing out, trying to have more fun each time than she did in the last take. she ends up using the second try, where she had the most fun with filming. the third, fourth, and fifth run-throughs all got progressively lower energy as she grew tired, and the first served as more of a warm-up anyway.
she films her introduction, splices it to the beginning of the video, and sends it off to studio delta. it's out of her hands, now -- she did all she could, showed the best she had. there's nothing else to do now except wait.

beach day.
a starter for @noelxbe
lucy loves the beach. with summer rapidly approaching its end, she's glad to have been able to take a day trip out with noel. she misses the beaches of home like an open wound, but visiting other shores serves as a nice salve, a reminder of the simple, carefree days of her childhood.
the bus ride here was long, just over two hours, but they were thankfully able to leave the city early enough that it's still not quite lunchtime, and the sun hasn't quite reached its peak. the weather is still hot, but the breeze off the sea helps cool the air down enough that it's bearable.
as soon as she reaches the sand, lucy kicks off her sandals and bends to pick them up. she puts them in her bag as she wiggles her toes in the sand, smiling slightly as she inhales the familiar scent of the ocean and hears the sounds of children laughing and playing further along the beach. "what do you want to do first?" she asks, turning to her friend. "we could go swimming, or play beach volleyball, or find a food stall on the boardwalk if you're hungry."

enkore:fest - huang lucy performs a dance cover of 28 reasons
lucy stands to the side of the stage, biting her lip and shaking her hands in front of her, ostensibly to get the nerves out. she's performed for small crowds before, but never alone. she's only ever danced with groups, be it small groups of her friends doing covers for talent shows and the like or showcases with her dance academy. this is easily the biggest crowd she's seen, and she's petrified.
she steps out when her name is called, bowing to the audience and getting into her starting position. she takes a deep breath as she waits for the music to start, then moves into the first moves of the dance, her nervous smile likely looking more like a grimace.
however, as she goes through the moves, she finds her smile becoming more genuine. the music is too loud to really hear anything from the crowd, and she's always had fun with this dance -- that's why she picked it. her nerves aren't gone, not completely, but she doesn't feel like she's shaking out of her skin anymore.
it feels shockingly similar to the start of a big volleyball match, when she serves the ball and her nerves move to the back of her mind, forgotten as she does what she loves.
she beams at the crowd as she dances, the moves familiar after so much practice. she learned this dance as soon as the song came out -- obsessed over it for a while, actually. it was a fairly easy choice for this festival; it's not too hard, not really, but the singer is known for her dancing ability and she always seems to have as much fun performing as lucy does.
the song winds down too soon -- lucy can feel herself panting, but it feels like a volleyball match all over again; she doesn't want it to end. but like all the best things, it's over before she wants it to be. she holds the final pose at the end, sending a wink to the crowd and finally hearing their cheers as the music fades out.
with a bright grin, lucy drops the final pose and bows to the audience, waving as she dashes off stage, flapping her hands in front of her as soon as she's out of view. this time, though, it's from excitement rather than nerves, and she knows she'll be riding this high for a while.
right now, she doesn't even care if she wins the competition.

lucy chuckles at his response, because yes, of course stevie likes these things. they're similar in that way -- lucy is likely here for the same reasons he is, after all. she nudges him gently with her shoulder. "i know, i do too," she replies with a smile. she loves having other extroverted friends who understand her attraction to big, exciting events like this.
she gasps softly as he offers to treat her, already shaking her head. "i can't let you do that!" she says, fiddling with the strap on her wallet for a lack of anything else to do with her hands. "i mean..." she trails off, biting her lip as she thinks back to how much money she has. if stevie does buy her the drink, then she'll have enough to buy herself and him a small trinket. "i guess i can't stop you, if you insist, but you'll just have to let me spend what you saved me on a gift for you while we're here!" she announces, bouncing slightly on her feet.
stevie lets out a started, albeit happy laugh in response to her hug; he throws an arm around her back, matching the grin that she shoots at him. "i mean..." he trails off, taking an idle glance around before glancing back at lucy, shrugging his shoulders. "i like these sort of things. what can i say?" it's lively and fun! keeps him out of the house and busy and not focused on anything else that he needs to do that isn't...as exciting.
his head cocks to the side as he listens, stevie letting out an understanding hum once she's finished. he shoves a hand into his pocket, other hand lifting to fiddle with his earring. "i see. a very serious decision." he nods sagely, mouth twitching. "what if you...get both? i can treat you while we're here." stevie offers. he doesn't mind; besides, he's sure anything else around them is probably a little more expensive then this. "best of both worlds?"

lucy bites her lip. the bubble tea looks so good, but she’s almost through her cash for the night — and she swore to herself that she wouldn’t use her debit card. she budgeted that cash already, and using her card would mean going over budget. will there be something she wants more later? but the boba looks delicious, and she’s been standing here considering long enough that she’s watched several patrons approach, order, and leave with their scrumptious drink. she needs to decide soon, or she’ll spend the rest of the night standing here agonizing and not having any fun.
she’s startled by a voice much closer to her than she expected, and she jumps and turns to face the source. immediately, her shocked expression gives way to a wide grin. “stevie!” she squeals, not hesitating to toss her arms around him in a hug. “fancy seeing you here,” she giggles as she pulls back, though she’s really not surprised the boy is here. he loves big parties and festivals as much as she does, after all.
“oh, i’ve been considering whether to spend the last of my festival money on bubble tea. it looks so good, but what if i want to buy something else later?” she chews the inside of her lip absently as she considers. she’s this close to a decision, she can feel it. she’s probably going to end up getting it, especially now that stevie’s here slurping on his own drink.
mirrorball.
< a starter for @belucy >
stevie thrives in bustling atmospheres like this. he's all smiles, excitement in his bones as he peruses. ducking away from his friends for a moment, stevie follows out his curiosity of the event and wanders around, mouth wrapped around a straw of his drink as he eyes everything. there's been so much to look at, so much excitement. when the festival's over and done with, stevie will be sad to see it go.
that just means he has to have fun while it's still here! and he's already well on the way to doing so. as he glances over another booth, he stops in his tracks when he catches sight of a familiar face. like moth to a flame when it comes to interaction, stevie meanders over, stopping next to lucy as she's studying something their advertising. sipping his drink, he cocks his head to the side. "ooh, what are we looking at?" stevie chirps. "you thinking of buying it?"

lucy nods at his explanation, excited at the metaphor. "yeah, exactly!" she says. "though i kind of do the same thing when i'm warming up for dance practice or a performance. but you're right, it's a similar concept to musical warm-ups."
she stretches her arms above her head, leaning back into the stretch and sighing blissfully at the relief in her back. she really needs a new pair of sneakers -- this pair is starting to wear out in the soles, and she can tell from how badly her feet and back hurt after just being on her feet for an hour. her eyes catch on a few familiar people across the court as kou points them out, and she relaxes her stretch to wave in their direction. she turns back to kou once they wave back, hoping they don't decide to come over here.
she didn't bring kou with the intention of getting him to sign up for the club, but the captains over there are always looking for new members. lucy hadn't really considered that before inviting kou along. she'll have to make sure he knows he's not required to do anything before the captains get hold of him, because they will get a hold of him.
"a few of them, sometimes. they're captains of a few of our teams. it's mostly pretty casual, but they're kind of in charge, i guess? though we run more like a democracy than anything," she explains with a shrug. "are you hungry? there's concessions out front, if you wanna grab something before the matches start."
hopefully lucy will be able to take the opportunity to warn kou against siyeon's recruitment campaign. siyeon is a good friend of lucy's, of course, and an excellent captain, but she can be downright ruthless when it comes to recruitment.
yeah, kou has no idea how he'd ended up here. some free time after his shift at the cat cafe, and his inability to say no to anything ( really ), has somehow gotten him roped into a volleyball court. not that he knows much about the sport in the first place, he'd always been more of a basketball guy anyway. the closest he'd ever gotten to volleyball was briefly getting hit in the face by one back in highschool.
still, kou doesn't quite mind it. he had time to spare anyway, and he's well aware of the fact that spending too much time surrounded by sheets of lyrics and his guitar would probably drive him mad. plus, lucy seemed so excited, so kou, as usually, wordlessly followed along with many questions. he was never the type to question things anyway.
"damn," he says, looking at the volleyball members ( was that what they called it? members? or was it players? he'll blame it on his poor korean ) stretch. "oh kinda like what you do before you perform on stage. but it's a warm-up for the body," he watches as someone throws a ball, and instinctively he covers his face – muscle memory from when he'd gotten hit in the face before. "that looks tiring, i think my muscles would overheat," he confesses.
he notices a group of people looking at both him and lucy and gently he taps on her shoulder, gesturing to them. "oh, are those your teammates?" he asks. for some odd reason, they seemed to be ... looking ... intensely at kou. but again, kou had brushed it off, sure that it was probably his mind playing games with him after being surrounded by cat fur all day.

lucy mills idly around the album shop, not really sure what she should buy. she has a few albums at home from her favorite groups, but she isn't much of a collector -- she honestly doesn't have the shelf space for it. she likes photocards more than anything, as they're small and easy to stick up on her bulletin board. it's impossible to guarantee she'd get what she wants in an album, though, which dissuades her from spending money on them a lot of the time.
she picks up a wonderland album -- one of their earlier ones, and lucy knows she doesn't have it. she looks over it, silently cursing the plastic stopping her from flipping through the photobook to decide if it's worth it to buy. instead, she rests the album in the crook of her arm and googles the name, hoping to find some scans online of the photobook (and cards) to see if she's really interested in it.
she's rather absorbed in her search -- the more she looks at the promotional pictures from this era, the more she likes them. it's a cute concept, honestly, and she likes the idea of having this album to compare to their new concepts as they grow as an artist. she maybe doesn't like it enough to actually buy it, though. she's still trying to figure that part out, if it's really worth dipping into her carefully-budgeted spending money for this festival for this album that she may not even really want.
lucy jumps when she hears a voice nearby -- far too close to be talking to anyone but her. the last time she looked up, this aisle was empty. how long has she been trying to make this decision? too long, probably.
"oh," she says, shifting her phone into her other hand so she can hold the album normally. "were you...wanting to buy it? i'm honestly not really sure if i want it or not. if you really want it, though, you can have it," she offers, holding the album out to the unfamiliar girl.
* WOULD YOU LIKE?
enkor is honestly right up hana's alley. she loves kpop; it's probably her biggest hobby outside of dancing, if dancing even counts as a hobby, since it's more like her entire life. she really wanted to come to this festival, just...not by herself. thankfully, she managed to rope a friend into coming with her without too much effort.
the only thing is, he got distracted with someone else he knew, and instead of just standing around awkwardly while they talked to each other, hana decided to take the opportunity to duck into one of the shops selling albums. the plus side of working two jobs and not spending much money doing much of anything is that she has plenty to spend at events like these, and she's hoping they're extra stocked up for the occasion. there's one wonderland album she has yet to find since coming to korea, and she's basically praying that at least one of the shops in the area of the festival is selling it today.
she finds the aisle the wonderland albums are on, and approaches the shelves with bated breath, only to–– see a tag for the album she's looking for, but none of the albums itself. oh god...she should probably ask one of the employees if they have any in the back if she really wants one, shouldn't she? she does really want one, but she also really doesn't want to ask anyone for help.
there's another girl in the aisle with her, an album in her hands, and when hana absentmindedly looks, she realizes it's exactly the album she wants. no, she can't just ask a stranger for their album. she needs to just gather the courage to ask someone at the store to look in the back.
"did you get that from here?" she bravely asks the other girl regardless, pointing to the spot on the shelf with the tag. "or are there more somewhere else...

nice receive ;
@kouxbe
lucy walks into the familiar gym, then spins on her heels to face kou and gestures with a flourish at the several courts full of running bodies and flying balls. "welcome to volleyball club!" she says. "my team isn't technically practicing today, but there's some matches later that should be fun to watch. and until then, i can show you around!"
she starts walking around the triple court, absentmindedly stretching her arm across her chest as she does. she may not be planning on doing a full practice or match today, but she knows herself well enough to understand that she'll probably end up playing a bit while she's here, and she knows better than to do that without stretching first. usually she does a few laps jogging around the court as a warm-up before she stretches, but she knows most people aren't as athletic as she is, and she didn't exactly give kou much heads up before dragging him here after he got off his shift at the cat cafe. to be kind to him, she settles for just jumping in place as she stops in a corner, nodding to the nearest court.
"look, the teams are doing their warm-ups before the matches," she says, watching as the spikers run up one at a time from a line to do a spike before returning to the back of the line. meanwhile, a couple other players serve balls from the back line, while a few more on the other side of the court focus on receiving the serves. "pretty cool, right?" she asks kou with a grin, still bouncing slightly on the balls of her feet.
(lucy knows she can get a little crazy about volleyball. it doesn't really bother her, but she hopes she doesn't freak kou out with her excitement. he's funny, and nice, and she likes hanging out with him, so she's eager to show him this part of her life. she can only hope that he doesn't think she's weird or too intense.)
