Actually now that I think about it, looking at this from the perspective of the traditional Irish myths of the loathly lady turned sovereignty goddess...since Gawain is the one actually bestowing the sovereignty onto Ragnell does that mean he is the goddess???? Incredible

*rises from my fucking tomb*
So like if Sir Gromer Somers Joure's name means "Man of the Summer's Day" and he represents the Summer Solstice, and is trying to get his land back from Gawain (via Arthur), only to be thwarted by Ragnell's sovereignty, could we say that this is an analogue to the Summer/Winter king battle for dominance meant to take place at each solstice?
Alternatively, since Gawain experiences both summer and winter beheading games with Lord Bertilak and Sir Gromer is he perhaps the land being fought over? Much to consider

Becoming truly insane about medieval optics and how it affected the perception of love. You're telling me the arrows of love were literal? Absolutely gobsmacked

And If? If I were to re-write SGGK as a graphic novel that does not add too much more to the story (beyond perhaps some dialog where it only says “they talk about x”) than to visualize exactly what is written in the text including the positions the characters are in when such things occur? Then what?
