Pigeons are really bad at making nests.

Pigeons don’t know how to make sturdy nests. Their ancestors, European Rock Doves, live in areas with scarce building materials. This makes those wild birds put less effort into building nests, which has passed along to the pigeons. Basically they just need a few twigs to keep the eggs from rolling off.
