John pouted at Bucky's somewhat teasing comment about causing headaches, "Oh come onnnnnnn, this isn't my fault, I didn't ask knife wielding maniacs to attack me. I have actually been behaving and minding my own business."
Sure, John sometimes got into trouble. Okay, maybe a lot. He's headstrong in that way and he knows it's not exactly the best combination with his temperament. But he's been trying to do better at that and learning how to be more zen about everything.
He does brighten up at Bucky's comment about them being teammates. Not long ago John had thought himself and Bucky would never be able to find common ground. That whole shield business had put a lot of distance and awkwardness between them. But slowly yet surely, being on this team had allowed them to get to know each other, to see each other as individuals beyond the misunderstandings and misconceptions that might have grown between between. John liked this feeling, that they can trust each other to watch each other's backs. Mama Hoskins did always say John craved a sense of safety. This team, Bucky, they provided that for John.
"Well, what do you say we watch get a drink together or something, that way in case any coo coo heads show up, the two of us should be able to wipe the floor with them."
✮ – He wanted to scold him, remind him that such actions could expose him further, put him in danger and the whole team as well. But he knew if anything, John wouldn’t listen to him, wouldn’t really care much about exposing himself to further danger.
“You know, you have been the only consistent thing whenever I have headaches”, Bucky replied, half teasing him, half serious.
He…didn’t seem to dislike the super soldier situation, or the noun altogether. Sometimes, he envied how easily John made it seem to truly embrace their current reality. Although he wasn’t sure it was fair to say it had been easy for him, it was just…
Bucky shrugged, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket. “We’re teammates, so naturally we gotta keep an eye on each other.”
And the moment those words came out of his own mouth he realized just how much had changed in their relationship, and how they weren’t at each other throat’s twenty four seven. However, that didn’t mean they didn’t butt heads every now and then as both men could be incredibly stubborn.

John holds onto Ava, tears run down his face and he can't stop it. Nothing feels okay, the pain in his chest wants to swallow him whole. Emotions seeking to overwhelm him. Nightmares that he can see with his waking eyes. The tiniest part of him recognizes that an enemy with powers to manipulate emotions was messing with his head and is the cause of his current dillemma, but it doesn't change what he's feeling or the terror that's seized him. "Make it stop." He begged.

bucky's squeezing john's shoulder; it's a concerned and assuring hand, that the soldier isn't alone. "c'mon john. let's get out of here." ( after seeing mike ?? )
John hears Bucky's voice and feels the hand on his shoulder, but he feels frozen in place, unable to move. Mike is here. Mike is alive. His brother is alive. He looks to Bucky in confusion, "I...I...how? How is he...how is he here?" His body can't move, he feels like his heart is racing. He doesn't know what to do. He's so confused.

The unexpected kiss made John blush. Sometimes affections like this made him feel a little shy. But it was still much welcomed and eventually brought a small smile to John's face. "I wouldn't mind more of this." He chuckled, looking at the other with love and appreciation.

"Well that's a little rude, you should be the one introducing yourself since you're interferring on my mission." Lemar raised an eyebrow at the mysterious new interloper who had appeared seemingly out of nowhere during his chase on a suspect. Luckily John was taking care of the fleeing suspect problem, so Lemar could deal with the mystery person. Crossing his arms as he leaned against the wall, "You some kind of a spy?"

It felt nice to have someone who understood. In sea of judgments from all over, John was starting to feel a little crazy. Everyone was busy giving excuses to the Flag Smasher he had killed, all the ways to excuse his cupability in Lemar's death simply because he hadn't delivered the finishing blow. But what difference did it make that the guy hadn't struck the final hit on Lemar? He'd still been there helping, he was every bit as responsible. "Thanks, starting to feel a bit stir crazy with everyone else acting like they wouldn't have..."

... CAN THE PEOPLE SHE CARES ABOUT STOP DYING? PLEASE? She is not taking John's death well at all. It's somewhere between Finnick and Prim's death. She can still manage to take care of herself on her own but she's doing so without paying her actions any real attention. Her mind is instead stuck on thoughts of what could have been done differently; if anything could have been done differently so he wouldn't have died. Yes, that includes thinking she'd rather have died in his place (depending on how, exactly, John meets his end. If it was merely an accident, she probably won't think it should have been her but it being an accident doesn't make it any less painful.) (prompt)

To say John is panicking just a tiny bit might be an understatement. Here they were out in the middle of nowhere with no backup and no emergency kits and Scott is injured and bleeding. He leans the other against a nearby tree and tears off strips of his uniform sleeves to use to try to clean all the blood off the other just so he can see where Scott might actually be wounded, "You know, you'd actually look super cool if this was Halloween..." He tries to keep the mood as light as he could.

Lemar smiles at the kiss, "Miss me already eh?" A part of him wishes he didn't have to go on this next mission, that he could just stay here with Bucky and have a nice weekend to relax. But duty seems to always call and leaving them with only the little moments in between. One of these days, he really needs a proper vacation to take Bucky on.
