Review of the Doxa 50th Anniversary Black Lung in the form of an Adventure Novel
The cold shocked my body as I slipped into the murky water near the pier.  I looked down to check the time on my Doxa Black Lung and adjusted the saw tooth bezel to the enlarged minute hand famous on all Doxa subs.  I knew I wouldn’t need the no-decompression limits on the bezel tonight, but I sure as hell would need to reference the warm green glow of the luminous dial and hands.  I adjusted the beads of rice bracelet with diver extension over my black dive suit and tested my air.  I then dipped below the surface.  The large 42.5mm cushion cased diver comforted me; knowing the modified ETA 2824-2 movement was ticking strong.  At 28,800 beats per hour, it was much faster then the amount of kicks I was counting on the way to the ship moored at the pier.  For the size, the watch was a slim 13.4mm and followed the contours of my wrist.   It was noticeable without being too heavy. As I slipped down to 30 ft I glanced again at my Doxa.  The Black Lung Aqua-Lung” logo was illuminated by the glow of the luminous dial and hands. The orange dial and domed sapphire glass provided me with plenty of visibility as checked my time to target; about 200 yards to go.  The brushed case allowed me to get close without reflecting in the searchlights coming from the ship.  The polished sides and beads of rice did not worry me in the slightest.  As I reached the ship I saw the anchor chain and proceeded up as silently as I could.  As I reached the top, I accidently knocked my Doxa against the rails with a loud bang. I don’t know what worried me more, that I’d be discovered, or if I had knocked the crown loose.  Lucky for me, no one heard the noise, and my crown was protected well by the stainless steel tonneau case.  I took another glance at that orange dial.  It showed me 30 minutes into this adventure.  I worked my way across the bow toward the bridge. Amazingly the watchman was asleep. I slipped into the comms room and found what I was looking for; the cargo manifest and port calls.  I slipped the document into my dry pouch slung around my wetsuit and got back to the anchor unnoticed.  I proceeded to climb down the chain and back into the water where I stowed my dive rig.  After I adjusted my mouthpiece, I turned my bezel to the minute hand for the route back to my link up point.  I noticed the lume still glowed that bright green as my time elapsed.  As I kicked back to the link up, I thought about the mission and how I wished this watch wasn’t limited to just 300 pieces worldwide. I know, it’s a weird thing to think of when trying to escape unnoticed after stealing something the ship’s crew would be looking for.  But hey what’s the point of being serious when it’s an adventure?
