“Be like the ocean. Breathtaking to look at, strong enough to not be destroyed, and gentle enough so others find comfort in your presence.”

What does fearing the lord mean?
have you ever looked at the ocean? vast and unfathomable really. looking from a distance its beautiful and you have this sense of respect for it. You recognize you can never control it. Up close with your knees deep in water you have a greater sense of its beauty and touch but also of its power. You feel the small waves brush your knee caps. Now go take a swim and don’t stop swimming. You’re in the middle of the ocean and theres no land nearby. Panic hits you like a freight train when you realize how small you truly are and how powerless you are. Its a sense of helplessness when confronted with power thats to be in awe of
Thats what i see fearing the Lord to be. Being a distance away looking at the ocean but in your heart feeling as if you’re right in the middle. Its a power unimaginable yet its also a love that allows us to be His. Thats humbly frightening

Can i just say a thing to all the single girls for a moment? I have always thought that I’d end up being that single, super girl that would never get married, and save the world all by herself. I thought it was from a place of power & independence, but it was actually deeply rooted in a place of insecurity and the feeling of inadequacy. Now that im in a relationship with my literal dream guy and the most amazing man I’ve ever known, i can’t help but remember the way i felt a mere 5 months ago. Not completely worthy, not the most beautiful face in the room, not completely known by the people around me… my relationship with letting my self receive love was very dysfunctional & broken. Almost nonexistent. But, to every girl who feels the same right now… it’s not a cliche to look yourself in the face and whisper “you are worthy” over and over again, until you’re filled with the love and delight God has as He looks at you. You are so worthy. Please don’t starve yourself from the love that your heart needs. We need people.. we need each other. We can’t do this life on our own. As much as we like to believe that “the one woman show” is the most attractive thing to be, it’s cold and isolated. We deprive our hearts. Love again. Risk your independence, and love again. And a man WILL (Yes- He will…) come and he will look you in the face and whisper, “you are worthy”, and you’ll find that the capacity to love and to be loved , was there all along. But, you just needed to believe you are worthy of it. You are LOVED.

“it’s okay to be a forgiving person. just remember the difference between saying, “it’s okay,” and “i forgive you.” because one means it’s okay to hurt me again, while the other means it’s not okay, but i’m okay.”

“If grief can be a doorway to love, then let us all weep for the world we are breaking apart so we can love it back to wholeness again.”

“Loving someone should be hard and active, not easy and passive. When you sign up to actually love people – no fakers allowed – then you sign up for a life of runny noses, awkward car rides, hugs that last too long, pauses that demand no noise, and admitting you were wrong. If you want to actually love people then you have to be willing to be wrong. Love is forgiveness. And it’s atonement. And it’s basically like putting your soul in a washing machine – it’s not some gentle cycle, it’s a fierce whipping that rings you out good. It makes the stains fade. Best of all, it fills the holes.”
