Granted, I stopped watching B99 in season 6 but the ending of "Captain Peralta" is probably my favourite Holt and Jake moment because both Andre and Andy brought so much to it in such a short scene at the very end of the episode.
It's one thing for the story to show us Jake's realization that his father is a shitty dad and him facing that reality means protecting himself and establishing boundaries but facing that reality also losing a hero only to reveal/realize that Holt is Jake's true hero and the father figure he needs and respects and who doesn't let him down and who does the things that father figures do. It's another thing for the actors to embody that material and embody that material they did.
The unabashed pride and warmth and affection Andre gives to Holt when looking at Jake? That gravitas, that fatherly, authoritative validation he provides in simply his expression and tone of voice
and then the way Andy shows Jake's genuine surprise and vulnerability and shyness and embarrassed sort of pride at making Holt proud that he's almost a kid himself in receiving that validation?
It's just such an important scene to me in the context of the show?
In honour of Andre Braugher i’d like to share one of my favourite scene of him from brooklyn 99. what an absolute fantastic man, we’re we’re so lucky to have him 💕
