Hi everyone!
My name is Rameesha. I am a 3rd year BSc Psychology student at the University of Hertfordshire. I am currently conducting a study based on categorical processing within semantic memory and whether monolingualism and bilingualism has any influence on performance.
I am currently taking volunteers for this online study. Anyone aged 18-65 can take part. If you are bilingual, English MUST be your second language.
This task consists of participants being shown a word pair on their screen, for example, blue + green, and must decide using the keys on the keyboard, whether the words are related to each other or not. You will be asked to continue until all word pairs are completed with breaks in between the task.
Data collected during the task will be completely anonymous.
The study will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. However a a maximum of 30 minutes is given for the entire study including the information, consent, demographics and debrief sheet, including the breaks given, otherwise I cannot use your data if it exceeds 30 minutes.
PLEASE NOTE: this study cannot be completed on a phone or tablet it must be done on a computer or laptop as a keyboard is required for this task.
You can complete this study until Monday 11th March 2024 at 23:59 GMT. You can complete the study here:
https://research.sc/participant/login/dynamic/225AA5E7-D357-40F0-9810-AA6563C79273
This study has been approved by the Ethics committee at the University of Hertfordshire and is also being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Nicholas Shipp.
Your participation would mean the world to me! thank you so much for your time.
Love you
Rameesha

Just under 8 hours left until the study closes!!!
Hello everyone!
My name is Amina and I am a BSc Psychology with Honours student at the University of Hertfordshire. I am also the principal researcher of a study that aims to investigate whether judging category relatedness within semantic memory can be influenced by the level of typicality the items have alongside whether high versus low autistic traits have any effect on the performance of different types of processing.
I am currently taking volunteers for this online study. Any adults aged 18 to 65 can volunteer and you do not need an official Autism diagnosis to take part.
In the study, you will be given an item/ definition/ scenario at the top of your screen and will have to decide which of two following words match best to that using your keyboard. After that is completed you will be given the RAADS-14 questionnaire to complete.
It will take roughly 15 minutes to complete. However, a maximum of 30 minutes is given for the entire study to be completed including the information sheet, consent form, debrief sheet, and the “breaks” given (which are just for momentarily resting your eyes and hands), otherwise I cannot use your data. Please note that this study cannot be completed on a mobile phone or tablet, it must be done on a computer/laptop as the keyboard is required for the study’s completion.
You can completed this study at anytime until 23:59 GMT on Friday 1st of March here:
https://research.sc/participant/login/dynamic/0D915D45-8D85-44F9-9B63-376AF0C70573
This study has been approved by the Ethics Committee at the University of Hertfordshire and is also being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Nicholas Shipp.
Your participation is very important for this study and is very much appreciated.
Thank you for your time!
Many Thanks
Amina

So imma try blaze the post for the last time on 11pm GMT on Wednesday as a last attempt at gaining participants before the data collection end date. Thank you everyone who has taken part so far it has been and will be so helpful for my dissertation, and I’m really hoping I get some sort of substantial results from this investigation that gives more insight into it!

Hello @calhant !
I saw your tags about whether I’m working only with english native speakers. In this study there isn’t a focus on whether native versus non-native speakers have an effect here. So whether english is your first, second or even fifth language they can take part! Only requirement here is age 😊
I did think about how native vs non-native may influence the results here, especially considering there’s been mixed results with the way it affects categorical processing. However, I am but a student with a word-count and I am fighting against the university clock haha

I can’t edit blazed posts. I should’ve highlighted that even though there are built in breaks a total of 30 minutes can be spent on the entire study otherwise I can’t use the data. The “breaks” are more like a way to rest your eyes for a second or shake your hands out. I should’ve been more clearer about that…
