Routine can be such a double-edged sword. We need it to make our world go ’round. To take the strain off rethinking everything every time. This frees up brain space for more complicated thoughts, like researching cost-effective energy sources or designing your wee one’s Halloween costume....

Brunch 8/3/2013:  TALDE, 369 7th Avenue, Brooklyn, NY
Breakfast ramen with buttered toast broth, honey-glazed bacon, and six-minute egg; sausage, egg, and cheese fried rice; corn pancakes with Edwards Surrayano ham; pretzel pork & chive dumplings with spicy mustard; tater tots with sriracha ketchup; Korean fried chicken and waffle.
A very delicious brunch at a restaurant we had been trying to visit for awhile now. Favorites were the breakfast ramen (buttery toast broth, that is all), the fried rice (cheesy rice, brilliant), and the perfectly deep-fried tater tots.
The main gripe we had was the “Korean” fried chicken. As a Korean, I can say there was nothing Korean about it. It wasn’t crispy at all, nor did it have any Korean flavor. It was literally just wings that we would get at a sports bar. The waffle was tasteless, so sadly, there was nothing redeeming about this dish. To add insult to injury, it was the most expensive dish we ordered, too. 4/5 stars, $12 ramen, $10 fried rice, $12 corn pancakes, $8 dumplings, $4 tater tots, $14 chicken and waffle.
