Babe Rainbow Announce New Psychedelic Track “Retrograde”

Babe Rainbow, an Australian band distinguished by their boogie psychedelia and vintage surf cult visuals, epitomizes “stoner pop.” Formed in 2015 by Jack Crowther (aka Cool Breez), Angus Dowling, and Elliot O’Reilly, the trio initially came together around the snack stands of Rainbow Bay. They were employees of John Cutts, a local cultivator near Tropical Fruit World in Duranbah, NSW, where they worked with kale well before it became a mainstream trend. Their sound, which initially drew heavily on 60’s psychedelia and 70’s French surf-pop, has diversified to include a blend of woodland bop, folk disco, dub, dance, and global rhythms, all while preserving an Aquarian vibe through Dowling’s ethereal vocal style and Cool Breez’s resonant guitar play. Their debut release, The Babe Rainbow EP, was produced in an office space in Murwillumbah and received backing from triple j and Flightless Records, the label of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. In 2017, they launched their first album, produced by Stu Mackenzie, and embarked on an international tour alongside acts like King Gizzard, Allah Las, Tomorrow’s Tulips, and La Femme. After releasing their debut album under 30th Century Records of Columbia in 2017, followed by Double Rainbow (2018) and Today (2019), they completed a three-album contract. Crumb Unveils New Single “The Bug” and Announces North American Tour!

Following last month's announcement of their new album AMAMA, Crumb has unveiled a fresh preview with the single "The Bug." Along with the new track, the band has released an engaging and playful music video directed by Haoyan of America. Additionally, Crumb has announced a headline North American tour starting in mid-July. The tour will cover 30 cities, including stops in Chicago, Austin, Boston, Los Angeles, and a hometown concert in Brooklyn. L’Rain, Vagabon, and Discovery Zone will join Crumb on select dates. The full tour schedule is available below, with tickets going on sale this Friday, April 26th, at 10 AM local time. Discussing the new single, Lila Ramani of Crumb explains: "‘The Bug’ has been part of our musical journey since the early days, before the Jinx era. It started in a motel in Nebraska where I woke up covered in bed bug bites. Unable to sleep, I roamed the motel humming what would eventually form the outro of the song. As we recorded it years later, it gained a deeper, more tender meaning—the 'bug' isn't just an insect; it can be a friend, a lover, or a persistent late-night thought." New Remix and Tour Alert: Bodywash Elevates 'Kind of Light' with Khotin's Touch

Bodywash, a duo from Montreal comprising Chris Steward and Rosie Long Decter, announces a new remix by Edmonton's electronic artist Khotin of their 2023 track "Kind of Light," from their album I Held the Shape While I Could. This release comes ahead of their upcoming North American tour with Airiel and Blushing this June, marking their first tour since the album's release. The band shared that Khotin's Release Spirit was a constant companion on their recent tour, inspiring them with its sounds that ranged from the rugged Pacific Northwest to the bustling NJ Turnpike. They were eager for Khotin to reimagine "Kind of Light." His remix elevates the song's original tension and catharsis into a state of blissful euphoria, making it perfect for early morning play in a chill-out room at a rave, reminiscent of West Coast rave psychedelia and ambient influences. Additionally, here's a visualizer for "Kind of Light" (Khotin Remix): Steward and Long Decter, who met in college in 2014, initially did not connect musically. Steward, a London native, was influenced by British dream pop and classic shoegaze, while Toronto-born Long Decter grew up with folk and Canadiana. They found their unique sound through a blend of airy vocals, intricate guitar work, and atmospheric synths, launching their debut EP as Bodywash in 2016, followed by their first album, Comforter, in 2019. During the lead-up to Comforter, both members experienced significant personal changes, feeling a sense of dislocation that fueled their next creative phase. Their music took a darker, more experimental turn, yet became more invigorating compared to the mellow dream pop of Comforter. In 2021, they brought these new songs to the studio, collaborating with their longtime drummer Ryan White and recording/mixing engineer Jace Lasek of Besnard Lakes. The resulting album, I Held the Shape While I Could, explores themes of decay and renewal through its sonic landscape. The album reflects the concept of home as a shifting notion, an ever-changing place that remains tangible and intangible. Throughout I Held the Shape While I Could, the interplay of Steward’s abstract guitar work and Long Decter’s fluid vocals creates an ambient soundscape that blurs the line between digital and organic, crafting an auditory world that is simultaneously familiar and uncharted.
