Lego Mech MOC - Type Abyssus

Due to the shortage of bricks of certain colours, the mecha with cockpit is being halted. Looking at my abundant orange and adequate black, an idea of a humanoid mech with slim but long arms came to me.

I actually built the arms first and realized a slender (slimmer than Atlas) would go well with the arms. The idea of the mid section from the unfinished mech is put into this one to balance the proportion. Last but not least, I used the cone shaped pieces into legs.

All these designs required different type of joints, I developed them accordingly.

I literally made a backpack type cockpit but it did not turn out as nice as I liked due to how bulky it is compared to the overall slenderness.

So, WIP continues. Hope to update you all soon here!

So, new R&D has started!

This was a rare WIP post from me. I don’t usually post unfinished project as it is not my aesthetic to manage my content, but it is kind of cool to share this with you.

It is a test frame for my next mecha series, Type Astro, which, as you can see, is an upgraded version of Type Altas wiht a cockpit, more flexibe arms and legs, and a sort of spine construction to add a mid body section to allow more delicate moves and poses.

To be honest, I dont know when i will finish it. I appreciate your pentiece if my creations offer a tiny little awesomeness to your life!

New tutorial is live on my Youtube Channel!

This time is for Atlas Unit 03 Kai!

The very original modification for Unit 03 was largely about adding the electric blue to the white body along with a single focus on long distance battles.

After a while, I think it is pretty plain to avoid any close combat capability. So here it comes, Unit 03 Kai now has two sets of armours, Alpha is for long distance battles, and Beta is for close combat.

<Type Atlas Unit 09>

Unit 09 is a total reborn from my never happy changes to Unit 05 and never finished original Unit 09 (due to the lack of colour coordinating pieces).

My initial idea is easy, I want put orange into my color choices, I have too many white, beige and a just-good amount of sand and dark grey. After messing around, the Unit 09 is what you see here.

I also used an interesting plate to connect two cannons/ thrusts at the back. A long blade has been added to the weapon system as well (after finding the orange technical piece).

It is a Frankenstein as I just want to push the usage to the maximum of my inventory of pieces. I think the result was not too bad!

Atlas Unit 02 KAI - Shark Head

I have been thinking about how I could modify Unit 02 for the longest time. Not because it was hard, it is because I think original Unit 02 was pretty completed version of itself no matter colours, details, backpack, and weapon system. It seems like any extra work would ruin the balance.

So I think I shall try something a little wacky with it. The shark sitting in my display case lit up the idea as it has the same grey as what Unit 02 was using.

The very original idea is to have two shark hands instead of head. However, I did not quite like the outcome. Randomly playing around the shark led to the final production of this one.

I also updated shoulder system just to different from Unit 00 and 01. Moreover, small detail changes on the feet and calf to consolidate the colours I use.

No here it comes, Atlas Unit 02 Shark KAI!

Type Atlas Unit 01 KAI - MA Version

Where did I get the idea for my biggest MOC? After watching @brodan_gundam video about GN Arms Type D, I think it would be cool to make something based on the idea.

In order to attach the Atlas to the Mobile Armour, it took me a while to put together the attachment system. The very original design would make Atlas lay flat, but the structure was very loose and off balance. So I changed the entire thing more vertically thanks to the new attachment mechanism. I would love to make lids for the missile launching box, but with this scale, it is hard to put on more details without looking strange.

I am happy to finally find a way to hand the blade on the MA, so the theoretically, Unit 01 could still hold it after disconnecting with the MA.

Compared to the original, there are more thrusters with more energy tanks. Also, I added some small thrusters, which ideally are for more delicate move.

So, that is it for now. If there are more pieces, crazy ideas, or sudden clicks in my mind, I might be able to modify it more down the road.

P.S. Would any one is interested at the tutorial for the MA? It will be quite a challenge to reverse though🥹🥹😂😂. However, if you guys are into it, I will do my best to make it for you. Let me know!

In this details LEGO tutorial, you will discover the every piece you need to construct arms and leg for Type Unit 00 from my favourite MOC series so far, Type Atlas. I hope this step by step video will help you to bring your own Atlas to life.

The very original Unit 00 was total black. It was cool, but I think Unit 00 is cooler with this green elements. With just hints and minimum exposure of this pop colour, it present the idea of Psycho Frame very well.

Altas Unit 04 KAI

There is a quite revamp on Unit 04 as I thought I was only simply make another Atlas without any new ideas.

So here it comes with some new ideas! First, you can see a very different (but the same head?) from others. Then I make calves with new scales to balance the heavy looking head.

Some minors come from the shoulder armour, backpack, thrusts, and weapon system. I did design a gun for it, but I think it looks way more bad ass with two hammers.

Atlas Unit 07 KAI

For Unit 07, it took me a while to think about the way to modify it. Although the frame stays the same, amours on legs and shoulders are the major changes are done on.

Also, with the blades attached by the thighs originally, it make the standing gestures look slight funny. So it decided to make Unit 07 carry the blades at the back.

Finally, to make a little different from all others, I actually deigned this aircraft board. Initially, I thought about making a horse but first not enough pieces and mostly because I don’t know where to start😅.😅😅. Well. Maybe in the future, I shall find a way to make a horse.

<Altas Unit 06 KAI>

Major changes are applied to the arms and backpack as you can clearly tell here. Shoulder armours has been modified to avoid showing studs and looking more smooth. Compared to the dagger and shield I designed for the original version, I completely changed to this exaggerated claw armour that is supposed to provide the great damage and even great defensive in close combat.

The backpack has been revamped as well from a combo of separated energy tank and gun barrels into a combined one. A little aggressive in the size but it kinds turns out to be quite balanced to me.

It is also new design for the weapon holder on the back. I personally like this design that combines extra thrust and holder together.
