Al Ghul family fancast

I’ve seen a lot of posts about the batfamily and other DC characters, but there’s an alarming lack of (non-whitewashed) fancasts for the Al-Ghul’s. And since @arabian-batboy totally inspired me, I decided to go for it. So buckle up, kids.

I’m gonna do this

Nadine Nassib Njeim as Talia Al Ghul

Seriously, this woman was born to be Talia. She’s a lebanese actress and beauty pageant titleholder. Her pictures are amazing and she has the elegance to play the role. 

Ayman Amin as Damian Wayne Al Ghul

This guy is a singer and actor. He started his career in the arabic version of “The Voice: Kids” not long ago. As far as I know he’s lebanese (if I’m wrong, please correct me) and he’s fluent in english. He’s not very famous yet, but you can find good pictures in his instagram. 

Ghassan Massoud as Ra’s Al Ghul

He’s a syrian actor and filmmaker. He’s known for appearing in movies like “Kingdom of Heaven” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”. And seriously, this man exists, there’s no excuse for casting a caucasian actor to play Ra’s.

Dive Assad as Nyssa Raatko (Al Ghul)

There’s not a lot of information about her, but as far as I could read her father is syrian and her mother is mexican. She was born in Veracruz, Mexico, and is an actress and writer. 

Stephen Thompson as Dusan Al Ghul

I know, I know, this is whitewashing and there’s no way around it. This man is a model/actor from Brooklyn, so ethnically he’s far from the character. The only thing that they have in common is the albinism. So I wont justify my lack of research for a better cast in this one, and I’m open to suggestions.

I wanted to include Mara and Athanasia, but for now I haven’t found a proper cast  for them. Hopefully when I do, I’ll update the post.

Sadly AI’s have a limited life-span but luckily for Jason, TIM’s creator is also on board with that agenda.  Cyberpunk 2077 got me feelin’ some kind of way… and there’s a lot to unpack here so have fun with that! <3 Close ups under the cut! There’s no reason to change her. I really think she’s perfect for the role. Also, bonus points since she’s told that she’s open to explore Haley and Ivy’s relationship and is not happy with people romanticizing her abusive relationship with the Joker. You go, Margot!

Jessica Chastain as Pamela Isley - Poison Ivy

I feel like Jessica is very capable of portraying a woman like Pam. She’s not completely sane, but she’s incredibly smart, clever, manipulative and sexy. Jessica also has the attitude and judging by previous roles, she can definitely kick some ass. 

I mean, just look at her in these edits. 

Awesome.

And last but not least…

Eva Mendes as Selina Kyle - Catwoman

Talking about women who know how to use their looks as a resource to get what they want… Selina is the embodiment of a cat, literally. She’s gorgeous, smart and managed to worm her way into Batman’s heart. She likes to seduce and knows how to do it, she’s not quite bad, but definitely a trouble maker. Eva has played roles like this before, and she’s done it perfect. And though I’m not one to choose actors based in their nationality or ethnicity, it’s a little plus that Eva is half-cuban, just like Selina. 

You can’t tell me she doesn’t look like Sel.

Batfamily Face-claims

Days ago I made a post with my fan cast for the Batfamily. But there’s a difference between that first one and this one. You see, as an artist and as a writer I like to have visual references. And these face-claims are exactly that, visual references of how I imagine these characters when I draw them, when I write and read about them. I know this “cast” won’t be portraying the roles in any media, and I chose them solely based on their looks, on how I physically imagine them in real life.

Bruce Wayne - Batman

I like Ben Affleck not just as a visual reference. I like him in general because it’s really easy to see him as Batman and as Bruce Wayne. In my humble opinion, Ben not just looks like Bruce, he acts, moves, fights and carries himself as Bruce (and Batman).

Dick Grayson - Nightwing

Dick is one of my favorite characters in the batfamily. It wasn’t as easy as I thought to find a face claim for him. At the end I couldn’t pick just one, so I have this one…

You can’t blame me for not choosing, okay?

Jason Todd - Red Hood

Jason Peter Todd. Boy, what a challenge you were. Though I’m very happy with the idea of seeing Matthew Daddario portraying him, I already said he wasn’t my first choice. I needed to do deeper research to finally choose him, because my first choice was this guy…

Of course, he’s not an actor, so I couldn’t exactly put him in a (more or less) serious fancast. He has that bad boy vibe and well, he looks a lot like Jason.

Tim Drake - Red Robin

My sweet, incredibly smart, amazing boy. He is a constant choice and it is because I can’t really picture anyone else as Tim Drake but Ryan Potter.

Damian Wayne - Robin

Yeah, some of you may have seen this one coming. Another constant choice, simply because I absolutely love this guy and certainly that’s the face I imagine when I read about Damian Wayne Al Ghul.

Duke Thomas - Signal

So underrated, so often ignored. Duke is an important part of this family and I truly like him.

Luke Fox - Batwing

The potential of this character is beautiful, really. He’s a veteran so I envision him as a big guy. A stern, big guy.

Helena Wayne - Huntress

The mantle of Huntress has been taken up from several women within DC Comics. The first Huntress was a villain called Paula Brooks. When she was revived in the 70’s she was made a hero and the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. She grows up to study laws at Harvard and is an expert in martial arts. She didn’t want to become a vigilante, that until her mother is killed and she decides to hunt down the killer. Later on, in Post-Crisis, we are introduced to Helena Bertinelli, an unrelated character to the prior Huntress. And I explain this to avoid any confussion. I think this character deserved to be explored further.

She’s all Selina except for those blue eyes and that stubborn jawline that she got from her father.

Hands down she’s my favorite batgirl. Her resilience is an inspiration and her distinctive red hair are just some of the reasons.

Kate Kane - Batwoman

Talking about badass girls.

Stephanie Brown - Spoiler

She was a Robin, batgirl and now Spoiler. She may look innocent, but don’t let that fool you.

Cassandra Cain - Black Bat/Orphan

Whoever says that Cassie is inexpressive, well, let me tell you that you’re wrong pal.

Claire Clover - Gotham Girl
