Hey there, you new? Nice to meet 'cha!

You've definitely come to the right place, seeing you wanna learn from the best and all. You can tag along with Dave and me for a couple a days so you can learn the ropes.

First off you gotta learn that headlines don't sell papes, newsies sell papes. Oh, and the last paper trick is always a winner. And when a customer gives you more than a cent? Take a loonng time giving back their change. Make a whole show outta it so they get impatient and let you keep it.

There are plenty of other tricks too, but I'm sure you'll pick it up in no time!

How many papers do you sell a week?

A thousand or better if it's a good week, but that's a hard swindle. I'd say usually it's in the six to seven hundred range. So you're looking at about seven or eight dollars a week for a penny a pape plus tips or the times when people are too much in a hurry to wait for change.

Once I made near fifteen dollars in just nine days, but that was during the war...
