Just watched the What We Do In The Shadows movie:
Nick is an idiot, I would have killed him the moment he started telling others about being a vampire.
We love a soft boy vampire who's still in love with the same woman for so many years, respects her happiness and then gives her eternal life.
Oh yes Vladdy-Daddy, hypnotize me please.
To be honest, I get Deacon being angry about his style being copied.
Overall, a great movie. I am looking forward to watching the show too.

criminally underrated moment from the What We Do In The Shadows movie is when Deacon and Nick are talking about how fragile humans are, and Deacon is listing the different ways humans can die, including:
old age
slipping and falling onto a giant spike
falling asleep in an autumn pile of leaves and having some of them block your windpipe
making the simple mistake of fashioning a mask out of crackers and being attacked by ducks, geese, or swans

One of my absolute favorite aspects of What We Do In The Shadows (both the movie and the TV show) is the truly accurate portrayal of what it's like to live with roommates (especially a bunch of queer ones).
The show has:
one person trying desperately to get people to come to house meetings and the others dodging it
half-eaten food being left around the house causing problems
a pair of roommates with a ridiculous amount of romantic/sexual tension between them, who act as if stuff like holding someone as they fall asleep is a normal part of the living situation (but only for each other)
a pair of roommates who fuck that one time, tell no one, and then casually mention it later
a couple who are sickeningly in love and extremely obvious about when they are ditching the group to have sex
a roommate leaping at the chance to express the resentment they've built up from being underappreciated, and then engaging in dramatics in order to force the others to realize their importance
a failed orgy
an ex that comes back into one housemate's life and everyone having to be polite when they can easily see the trainwreck this is going to turn into
occasional wails of despair echoing through the house
sexual tension between almost every combination of roommates imaginable
the roommate who knows how to adult leaving for a while and the house descending into utter chaos as no one else knows how to maintain the house
The movie has:
the dishes situation
a roommate that doesn't come out of their room except to eat and at this point the others are afraid to approach them
going to knock on your roommate's door and being greeted with an eyeful of whatever kinky shit they are into
supporting your roommate by refusing to speak of their ex
chore discussions which descend into near-violence
long and intense discussions of each other's outfits for a night out
having to act normal when authorities show up
everyone loving the guy that comes by to fix the internet
And listen. EVERY SINGLE ONE of these situations is something I've experienced in my time living with a bunch of mainly queer housemates in a somewhat anarchist household. There are shenanigans. There is dumbassery. There is sluttiness. And most of all, there are so many fucking dishes to wash.
Someone in that writers' room knows EXACTLY what they are talking about.
