Wyll is part of the Bad Dad club in BG3. Ulder Ravengard gets the "not as big of a jerk as you could have been" award, but still is getting punched on sight by me.

That's roughly what I've heard, but I'd like more details! I've been told by now he literally kicked 17-year-old Wyll out onto the street, but what was their relationship like before that? I reckon Ulder was probably kinda emotionally distant, probably preoccupied with politics and stuff, but I haven't seen anything specific about what kind of dad he was so far.

With the girl I wanna ship him with, he's gonna get a father-in-law who'll finally treat him the way he deserves though 😭

Y'all have been great with the Wyll info so far and I love and appreciate all of you, but there's still one topic no one has covered yet, and the tumblr search isn't really great to find that kind of information either.

So I'm gonna ask for help again! Would anyone be so kind to give me a summary of Wyll's relationship with his father? All I know is that he's an important figure in his life, but that their relationship is troubled. I don't mind spoilers, so by all means, give it all to me!

Essentially Wyll is a good warlock. Unlike most warlock characters, he made his pact out of noble intentions instead of angling for power. A lot of his story is centered around him trying to use his pact-given powers for good, while his patron (Mizora) tries to break his spirit and control him. He’s very selfless and wants to help others and inspire them toward hope. He’s also very charming and friendly. He’s spent the last seven years alone as a hero on the road, so it’s implied he’s been very lonely and this is the first time he’s gotten the chance to adventure with others and be part of a group.

Oh man, thanks for the recommend, but that video is way too long for me, especially since I don't really wanna watch a lot of videos at all at this point. There's one of the same kind for Gale and I haven't even watched that one, because I can't be arsed to sit down for 2+ hours for that sort of stuff 😅

Excuse me though, seven years? Isn't Wyll 24?? That would mean he's been travelling all on his own since he was seventeen??? That's a baby! 😭 And yet he still manages to be such a kind, witty, and socially competent person? That's some incredible mental fortitude in this boy.

I also don't know super much about Mizora yet, but the few tidbits I have seen make me hate her ass. I hope she seethes every time she watches Wyll use his powers to help people. She can hop in the trash right next to Mystra.

Looks like I have a type in this game huh? Kind-hearted men who are haunted by very powerful, nasty women in some way or another.

wyll is so freaking cute. I love him. Everyone calls him boring for being too nice, but in his walking dialogue with the others he can be so sassy and funny. Genuinely him asking Astarion about his "rat diet" is hilarious. Man went right for the throat, pun intended.

Listen I'm the president of the Kind Guys fanclub (hate that you can't say nice guys anymore lmao). I'm so fed up with that trope of the asshole anti-hero, give me some genuinely good people, I'm eating that shit up like candy!

And yeah, I did mention I saw some of his banter, he seems to have a bit of a mischievous streak to him, but never in a mean/hurtful way. I also absolutely need to find that one YT short again with all the characters' reactions to Karlach because they gave Wyll sort of a helium voice when he said "Ah, the stink of Avernus" and that cracked me up so hard. Like, that's his idea of an insult. I love it.

I'm already making plans on who to potentially take in my team if I ever get to play the game myself. I'll play a fighter, and one spot will always go to Gale because Gale is the love of my life, but I don't know about the other spots yet. I wanna bring Wyll. I hope I'll find a way to make that make sense game mechanic wise.

Summoned by my eternal love for Wyll… I love how charismatic he is. He’s truly so well written in his dialogue, if you ever pay close attention to how he subtly directs questions and insults, or awkward things the PC can say, it’s so cool to see how well he spins anything that comes his way. He’s so cute when he gets genuinely flirted with and doesn’t expect that depth of affection. His gestures and mannerisms when he’s speaking are so endearing and graceful— Gale has a line about noticing how graceful Wyll is, and it’s true. His skill in dancing and skill with sword fighting are related! When he lets himself be a little sarcastic or dry with his jokes it’s hilarious. He’s bottling back years of anger and pain and grief and he never gives up hope in others, even while he doesn’t save any for himself. He’s a sweet man with a love of things that are magical and strange. And he’s so beautiful too.

Sadly I haven't been able to play the game yet because I don't have a good enough computer that can run it at all, so I can't experience his dialogue firsthand yet - that's the main reason why I'm asking the people of tumblr in the first place! And idk, just watching his romance scenes or something on YT without much base knowledge about him doesn't really do it for me. I've already been like 75% obsessed with Gale by the point I started watching his videos (except the infamous astral romance scene. I did see that one very early in my journey 😂), so I already kinda wanna have a feeling for the character again once I do that.

He sounds like a really intelligent guy, but so far I've never seen anyone point that out. Could he be one of those people who are just too humble to openly display their talents despite knowing they have them? Or is it more like he doesn't think of himself that highly at all?

I have seen some little bits of his banter though, mainly in videos about other characters, which sadly seems to be a theme with him. Even in his search tag on here it feels like in 80% of posts tagged with his name he shares the post with other characters, or the post is outright centered on another character and he just gets tagged because he's visible somewhere at the edge of the frame for half a second.

I'd love to learn much more about him, also regarding his relationships. What's the deal with his father? What's the deal with Mizora? That kinda stuff. I don't mind spoilers at all, since I don't know if I'll ever be able to actually play the game to begin with.
