More Jim and Aja

No, I’m not completely sunken on their relationship

*briefcase breaks open dumping tons of Jim and Aja stuff all of the ground*

it is not evidence that I completely and utterly love them

(it is, it so totally is)

I think one of my favorite things in D’aja Vu (outside of that episode title) is the fact that Jim stopped Aja from running right back into the fight (when she shows up in his room) and called for help (and him recognizing that he and Aja can’t beat Porgon on their own).

Like, on the one hand, he’s been through that same day 30 times (my poor son, someone give him a hug), so it took him all those times to decide to stop and plan rather than heading for the planetarium almost immediately.

But, on the other hand, when given the opportunity to stop and strategize, he did.  Not only that, he did when he already had an ally (a super butt-kicking Akiridion no less with cool tech and advanced weapons that are at least the equal of the amulet (from his perspective) in their ability to protect Aja’s memory of the day and the time loop).  Like, he could have thought she was more than enough backup to defeat Porgon and gone running in with her.

Then, later, when trying to convince Aja not to go racing in again, he talks about his choice to go into the Darklands alone and how a lot of people (his friends) were hurt by that decision.

These are small moments, but they’re (for me) welcome changes in Jim’s behavior since Trollhunters S3, where he claimed he would go into the Darklands again (honey, no).  Like he’s learned and he’s doing things differently now.  Even if he can’t/won’t technically remember any of this.

(cue applause for good, subtle character development - one of my favorite things)

Also, and this is a bit more of a stretch, it makes me wonder if Aja was what instigated the change in Jim.  Going back to the he lived through the day 30 times until she showed up thing.  Maybe it was her presence that got him to realize that the rushing in way is not getting anywhere.

So, if they’re put in a situation where they need to work together again, that could lead to some excellent character development.

(yeah this is likely not going to be my last ramble on them, I have a TON of thoughts)

Jim and Aja

Something I want to see happen (or, rather, something I’m very very likely to write a fanfic about when I don’t have other responsibilities like I do this weekend - seriously it’s going to happen soon):

Jim and Aja talking about their roles in life and how they can’t get out of them.  Aja tried to run away from being a royal, but, like her mother told her, her specialness will follow her wherever she goes.  She can’t run away from who she is.  Once he picked up the amulet, Jim’s fate was sealed as the Trollhunter, he can’t be anything else now.  Even when he refuses it, the amulet comes back to him.

I know these situations are very different, but I like the idea of Jim and Aja opening up about their fears about their responsibilities and roles, and the fact they can’t really choose to be anything else and learning how they can still be themselves while also fulfilling a massive role (this is a sloppy description, but there’s an idea stuck in my head here).  Also them offering each other support too.

I just see a lot of potential in this dynamic.

Also, imagine them as sparring partners.  Especially after Jim becomes a troll.  And then them working together in battle.  I feel like Aja is a more creative fighter (and more willing to run in to battle) but Jim is more patient and calm.  Like, I don’t have it completely thought out yet, but they could complement each other’s skill sets really well I think.

Hmmm….y’know, the fact that Deya is literally the only troll we see with hairy eyebrows instead of stony ones (except for Jim who doesn’t count because he’s half-human) is almost tempting me to headcanon that she (perhaps unknowingly) has a human and/or half-troll somewhere in her lineage. 

Granted, I am still a little on the fence on whether trolls and humans can actually interbreed or if half-trolls can only be produced through magical means, but even if it’s the latter…I mean, Merlin had to discover that potion recipe somehow…

Hmmm…. 🤔

omg aja

- she has albinism! a bunch of ppl already have this hc but yea I like it

- she and Jim are best friends fuck rott

- she’s besties with Claire too

- she gets really excited when she meets Nari and becomes her friend instantly! she thinks their powers are lively

- she sees krel dye his hair and decides to dye hers too she gets cyan blue tips to contrast his red ones

- she loves to learn about human stuff she finds it interesting! sometimes she joins krel on the 3 am Wikipedia researches

- she gets a nice quote tattooed somewhere when she grows up, maybe lively on her back idk

- idk I like tattoos :-)

- she and krel annoy each other all the time like they throw a chips bag at each other then start play fighting then a minute later they’re hugging and then they go watch a movie. sibling moment

- listen I do not like what rott said abt Akiridion biology but if Aja and krel were going to have more siblings. the reason why they’re gone is bc she like absorbed at least one of them that’s why she’s so so so strong

- (I actually did that when I was a fetus I was gonna be a triplet but then I like absorbed the other two. there can only be one.)

- she joins the schools sports teams! she tried all of them out of excitement she even was a cheerleader at some point

- football jock and cheerleader except Aja is both of them she gets a jock jacket and yeag

- she’s pan!!

- her hair is curly like krel’s it’s just that it’s longer so it looks less curly

- if she straightens it it’s SUPER long

- she learns human slang and won’t stop calling vex peepaw whenever hes in his human form

le concepts for my headcanoned redo of the Titans battle (tl;dr it takes place around 10-15 years further in the future and characters don’t make as many stupid decisions). aka aged-up characters, plus babies

Because some folks have asked, none of the kids have a single “official” age. They are whatever age I feel like drawing them at for a given image/scenario. The ages listed here are roughly where they should be at the time of the battle. Those on the left of the line spent the battle in Jlaire’s house with Barbara and Nana; those on the right weren’t born until later. 

also Ruby and Emmie are twins as per my Simsverse, but I miiiight change that for this version? simply because it’s kinda weird for one pair of twins to be immediately followed up with another; idk it just feels unlikely to me? ^^; but w/e

idk if Claire would actually have her own staff by this point, given just how long it took Douxie to get his (though to be fair, his master was a little preoccupied taking a 900-year nap), but I thought it’d look cool so I threw somethin’ in there
