Gene Scarletta [Rewrite Overview]

The first child between his parents, Gene’s the only one between him and his brother to really properly remember his father, who left the growing family when both Gene and Dante were small. Despite how devastated he was, Gene took up the “man of the house” role, trying his best to help his mother raise his younger brother. Growing up in poverty with a single mother who worked two jobs, Gene felt trapped by the responsibilities that fell onto him, having to “grow up quickly” and mature faster than his peers, becoming more like a parent than an older brother to Dante.

As soon as he was old enough, Gene began working, trying his best to help his mother with the bills in the house. Because of all the stresses at home and his need to work, Gene would only make it into his junior year of high school before dropping out, having fallen too far behind. Dropping out caused a massive blow up between him and his mother, and while they would eventually move on from it, Gene felt burned and unwanted in his own home. This, alongside the resentment that had building up throughout the years, would culminate in Gene lashing out at others his age, making it difficult for him to make friends as well. Despite his stresses, Gene still managed to land himself into a more parental role once again with two underclassmen while he was still in high school - Zenix Anderson, a freshman, neurodivergent foster kid who was being bounced around from home to home, and Sasha Petrov, a sophomore who lived on her own after being kicked out her home. After dropping out, he continued to push the both of them to finish high school and to not end up like he did, and was basically the only adult in their corner providing for them both literally and figuratively.

Gene moved out at nineteen, not wanting to be a financial burden on his mother after Dante’s son, Dmitri, was born, alongside wanting to focus most of his attention on taking care of Zenix and Sasha so that they could focus on school instead of worrying about a place to stay. Sasha would officially move in during the summer between her junior and senior year, and Zenix would following halfway through his junior year. After the two of them officially graduated, the trio stuck together, with Gene eventually getting a job offer in Phoenix Drop that he’d take. It was through this job that he’d bump into a very closed off Zane, and while at first he was rather prickly, the two would eventually come to be good friends. Through their friendship, Gene learned about Zane’s financial situation - barely meeting ends meet - and as Sasha and Zenix were moving out on their together, Gene and Zane decided to move into together. 

Zane encouraged Gene to take a massive risk and quit his current job and take on a position as a DJ at a local dance club, and eventually he’d be offered his dream job - as the resident DJ and overall music coordinator for an exclusive nightclub nicknamed “The Underground.” Within just a few months, Zenix and Sasha would follow Gene’s footsteps, with Sasha being hired on as a bartender and Zenix as a watchdog. Despite now making enough to live on his own, Gene and Zane are still living together, as while financially they’re doing fine, both of their pasts seem to be knocking on their door. Not to mention, they haven’t quite worked out their rather... complicated relationship.

Garroth Ro’Meave [Rewrite Overview]

WOOOOO BOY one of the characters ive been most nervous to talk about my rewrite for. the ro’meave brothers are some of the most popular in the fandom (for good reason) so rewriting them was a little nerve wracking im ngl

Born and raised in O’Kashis, Garroth is the eldest of the Ro’Meave children. He grew up in wealth and was raised in a rather “traditional home,” with his father, Garte Ro’Meave, raising them to stick to more traditional gender roles. His mother, Zianna Ro’Meave did her best to gently pull her children away from the rather sexist views Garte believe in, which thankfully worked out for the most part. Garroth was the “golden” child of the siblings, being his father’s favorite, and it would take several years for him to realize the extant of this favoritism.

It was, however, during Garroth’s teen years that Garte’s more obviously bigoted views would become more apparent - especially in regards to Garroth’s younger siblings. Garroth became for more aware of how Garte unfairly treated his siblings - one constantly punished and yelled at while the other being held to an almost unreachable academic standard, but out of fear of his father’s wrath, he didn’t speak out. Garroth attended O’Kashis Prepatory High School, which only pushed his distaste for his father more, as his father’s high standards for him become more and more unbearable. Not to mention, it was during high school that Garroth really began to fully question his sexuality given he had a crush on a guy in his class, and given Garte’s behavior, it drove Garroth further and further away from him.

Garroth would graduate from O’kashis Prep, and after being pressured by his father, pursued a degree in business for a while until he dropped out and moved back home following one of his younger siblings, [REDACTED], disappearing without a trace. Garroth stayed with his parents and his remaining sibling (until they themself moved out as well) for a while after, not moving out again until he was almost twenty-five. That moved would lead him to moving in with Laurance Zvahl, a person he’d then fall for, hard. 

Nowadays, Garroth is in the process of truly dealing with what he now realizes was an incredibly toxic household - learning how to properly deal with a lot of the built-up internalized issue he’d been dealing with for years. And as fate would have it, it was of course now when what happened to his “missing” younger sibling would come to light.

The relationship between Travis’ parents was rather complicated from the bits he’s willing to speak about, something he rarely ever does, especially after Enki passed away when Travis was sixteen.

Eric’s past isn’t super important, however as an adult he met and married a woman named Elizabeth, and the two would go on to have two children together: Katelyn and Kasey Fire-Fist. Elizabeth would abandoned the family, leaving Eric a single dad until years later when he would meet Sylvana Shalashaka. Him and Sylvana would get married, blending their families together. He’s close with his eldest daughter, Katelyn, however his relationships with Kasey and Aphmau is a bit more complicated given Kasey’s issues with their mom leave and Aphmau’s strained relationship with her mother.

The two would have two children together: Katelyn and Kasey Fire-Fist, but Elizabeth would go on to abandon her family in “favor” of continuing her career, divorcing Eric and leaving the kids entirely to him.

Ein Shalashaka [Rewrite Overview]

heyo, sorry for the lack of activity. im not gonna go to into depth but i lost a family member and am almost overdrafted in my bank account due to medical bills so ive been struggling to get everything situated. ill do my best to be active tho :”)

The product of an affair with Zack Scarletta and an unnamed woman, Ein is Aphmau’s younger half-brother. Zack showed an obvious bias for Aphmau, leading to a complete lack of bonding between him and his son, as well as leaving Ein with a strong hatred for Aphmau, seeing her as the reason he didn’t get a father in his life (not realizing that Zack wasn’t exactly a father to her either.) Ein’s mother basically raised him on his own, and she had many issues of her own, leaving Ein stuck in an incredibly toxic home.

Ein attended Phoenix Drop High School, which is where he’d meet Aphmau for the first time. The hatred and envy that had built up over the years would boil over during this time, leading to constant fights between the two (with Ein starting most of them). Ein would also meet Kai during this time, who was one of the few people who was still kind to him despite his toxic attitude, though Ein rejected Kai’s friendly nature constantly. Ein and Aphmau’s constant fights would eventually lead to Ein being forced to transfer to another school, where once he graduated, he was kicked out of his home. 

Ein managed to scrape together enough to get an apartment, landing a semi-decent job that kept a roof over his head and food on the table. He kept his head down after high school, keeping to himself, until he bumped into Kai again. The two hit it off, and now that Ein had been forced to look at himself in the mirror and acknowledge all the ugly behavior he’d been dealing with, he was able to view Kai in a different light. Desperate for friendship after being alone for almost two years, the two became friends, and Ein developed a crush rather quickly on Kai. It was because of Kai that Ein would eventually reach out to Aphmau to apologize for his past actions, and the two would reconnect and discuss the issues they had had and where it all had come from. Aphmau would eventually accept Ein’s apology, however both mutually agreed that low contact would be best for a while, especially with them still each dealing with their own issues. Ein and Kai now live together, and Ein still mostly keeps to himself, but is making efforts to get out into the world and learn to heal from a lot of his past trauma

its my executive decision that aaron is just an eepy lil guy!! he works as a bouncer at a night club, he's more akin to sleeping during the day, so like,,, he dresses comfy during the day and barely leaves the house anyways (and when he does he usually just chucks on a pair of jeans and a tshirt and calls it a Day) so he gets to rock out in comfy clothes all day :)

more aaron redesign concept work. all the colors used for the quick base canon drawing were colorpicked from his skin except for his skin tone because his most modern skin tone in like the starlight thumbnails is just like??? a very Weird orange/yellow color?? it looks fine in the thumbnail but drawing wise thats a negative so i turned it into what i assume is the look they were going for

Born as Dorothy Anne, Dottie is the only child between her parents, however she has two older half-siblings. She was born in Meteli, but her family moved when she was young to Phoenix Drop. Growing up, Dottie’s parents very much raised her in a mixed cultural home, and taught a lot about being open-minded. She’d go on to attend Phoenix Drop High School, and was the first werewolf to join the Meif’wa club who wasn’t mixed, wanting to study more about other cultures. She’d continue these studies all throughout high school and would pursue this into college as well. 

Using what she learned, Dottie was able to befriend and help Daniel Rose, who’d been struggling a lot with their personal identity, as well as befriended Blaze Ittio, who she would go on to work with in the social services. She currently lives with Daniel and Ryland, and the trio are in a polyamorous, queerplatonic relationship.

Gene’s younger brother and the second son of Maria Scarletta, Dante’s father abandoned the family when Dante was four. This left Maria as a struggling single-mother, with the now family of three living in poverty while she worked two jobs to get by. Given their mother’s absent, Gene was left to pick up the pieces in the apartment, taking care of Dante and forming something more akin to a father-son relationship than a brotherly relationship given the forced dynamic in the situation. The skewed dynamic caused a lot of blow up fights, with Gene having held a lot of resentment towards his younger brother unintentionally, while Dante wanted out from under his brother’s parental nature as he got older.

Dante would meet Nicole Von Rosenburg in high school, the two dating and their relationship progressing way too quickly, leaving the two as teen parents (just like Dante’s parents) after Nicole had their son, Dmitri Scarletta. Maria helped take care of Dmitri, insisting Dante finished high school (unlike hid older brother, who had dropped out). It was during his senior year that Dante would meet Nana Ashida, who very quickly adored both Dante and his son. The two began dating in the later half of senior year, and a year after graduating, welcomed a daughter named Miiko.

Unlike his prior relationship, the family would stay together, with Nana and Dante marrying when Miiko was two and Dmitri was five. Dante, and by extension, Nana, had primary custody of Dmitri, which slowly filtered into basically full custody as Nicole’s job seemed to take priority over spending time with her son. Dante now lives with Nana and their two kids, working full time, while Nana works part time helping a local cafe with their baked goods.

The only child between their two parents, Daniel was born and raised in Phoenix Drop. Their parents separated when they were young, and the split wasn’t exactly “clean,” leaving Daniel torn between both their parents families, as well as the vastly different cultures that they came from, with their mother being a Meif’wa and their father being a werewolf. Daniel was often used as a pawn for their parents to make jabs at one another, and with equally scolded and praised depending on who’s house they were staying at. Daniel also attended a private school during their K-8 years, and the school was very... lacking in diversity, to put it nicely. This all would lead to Daniel developing a lot of identity issues at a young age, and it wouldn’t be until high school that they would begin properly dealing with them with the help of friends.

Daniel’s mother officially won primary custody right before their freshman year, and so they would go on to attend Phoenix Drop High instead of continuing in their old private school. It was at Phoenix Drop High when Daniel would finally meet people who were like them in many different ways, in particular, Ryland and Dottie. Both were mixed-raced queer kids, just like they were, and it was also through them that Daniel would meet Blaze Ittio, who took on an older brother role for the trio. Through their support, Daniel would start working to figure themself out, exploring both sides of their family properly, as well as coming out as non-binary during their senior year. 

A little after they graduated, Daniel would come out as aroace, and fall into a polyamorous queerplatonic relationship with Dottie and Ryland. They currently work at a local coffee shop, and often volunteer their time to help Blaze at the different fund raisers he hosts.

Brendan Martinez [Rewrite Overview]

So, I’ve decided jus to post even the characters with little information in their own post because I will (once I figure this out) have a much more organized masterlist that can be used to find reference/redesigns and their overviews, as well as any written works with certain characters in it :)

Cadenza Zvahl [Rewrite Overview]

Skipping over Brendan since he’s got like, a paragraph of information as of writing this and isn’t a super big player in the main story. Cadenza was adopted as a toddler by Hayden Zvahl and his wife, being raised in Meteli alongside her younger adopted brother Laurance, who was brought into the family about a year after she was. She attended Meteli School of Arts, a private school in Meteli that focused on art programs, with her brother before he transferred to Phoenix Drop High School for their soccer program. During her school years, she showed incredibly drive in leadership roles, and focused most of her attention on business and tailoring.

After graduating high school, Cadenza worked a freelance tailor through a wedding dress shop while attending college for business management, going on to open her own boutique and climbing really quickly through the business world. While operating her own boutique, Cadenza would meet and later date Zack. She still lives in Meteli, however given that she rarely has to work at her own store, is often rather “flighty” and takes a lot of trips. She frequently visits her younger brother in Phoenix Drop.
