looking at overhauling my entire operating system experience on my laptop

for one: i'm attempting to upgrade my Windows boot to Windows 11. having a rough time of it because my Windows 10 boot has some fucked up networking issues that make it not wanna play nice with the download. but my laptop is compatible and i wanna do it so i'm looking at it

and secondly: i've been having increasing problems with my linux boot since the beginning of 2023 and at this point i'm just ready to start fresh. and i've been using Ubuntu ever since i first migrated to Linux in 2019, and at this point… it's been five years, i'm ready to start looking at the more exotic versions of Linux. not necessarily the REALLY niche ones or anything; just, like, Fedora or Arch.

it might be because it's so mundane

the other imagery in the tape is so much more conventionally creepy, so you're focused on the actual creepy imagery

but the volcano? it's…. just footage of a volcano. it's downright peaceful. so my brain has way more time to focus on how disturbing the tape itself is, the fear of what viewing this footage actually means

man it's wild just how much i can actually fucking tolerate Windows 11

Windows 10? i use it when i'm forced to, but it's so ridiculously uncomfortable for me, everything about it just feels icky. it's no wonder the Windows 10 era is when i finally broke down and became a Linux pervert

but Windows 11? yeah i still prefer Linux, but i can totally survive on 11.

there was literally only one thing that i liked about Windows 10 and it is absent in 11, which is mildly disappointing, and 11's system requirements are REALLY annoying and make it significantly more tedious to set up a dual-boot machine, but otherwise? god Windows 11 is so much more comfortable for me
