Every single fic update there is an author trying frantically to find the right balance between a nonchalant aside of "leave a comment if you enjoyed =)" and clinging desperately to the coat tails of a random stranger, dragging along behind them on the street wailing "Please, please! I have to know what you thought! I'm desperate to talk to people about this! Ask me about the alliterative repetition! Ask me about the symbolism!"

Pssst, Hogan's Heroes fandom - there's still time to nominate your favourite stories in the 2024 Papa Bear Awards! Apparently there's a dearth of participants this year, so if there's even two or three stories you liked in 2023 please take a few minutes to fill the form. You don't have to have read all the stories - just celebrate the ones you liked!

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

I want to give a big thanks to everyone who voted! Running this tournament was a lot of fun, and it was cool to see how people voted. There were definitely a couple of episodes I was sure would get farther than they did.

Have you ever seen a picture that you keep remembering and know you will cherish in your heart for a long time?

I had a patient who was doodling and it was a pretty decent drawing, so I complemented him on it, he then showed me a drawing he’d done the night before and I almost cried!

It was 4 nurses with the biggest grins on their faces all hanging onto and riding on an IV pole down a hallway.

My heart took me back to a time when nursing and working with patients brought me and my fellow nurses that kind of energy and joy. Something I haven’t experienced in over 2 years now.

I remembered what it was like to actually enjoy the people I work with and doing my job.

I yearned for that joy, the urge to ride an IV pole down the hallway or to even skip.

I almost cried out of sheer longing for the co-workers who I could count on to make even a rough shift light.

I almost cried for the me I have lost, the me who used to love being a nurse to the point she would have done the job for free.

I almost cried.

He offered me the picture, I almost took it, but I respectfully declined. I wish I would have taken it.

I would have cherished that picture.

But now, I just keep thinking about it and keep tattooing it deeper and deeper into my mind and heart.

Welcome to Newsiestober 2023!

Hello everyone and welcome back! It’s time for Newsiestober again!

This is an “inktober” based fandom event where every day is a new prompt! 

The idea is to get people involved and creating new things for the fandom and excited about Autumn and Halloween!

You can interpret the prompts however you like. You can write fic, make art, write a headcanon list, create edits, playlists, whatever you can think of!

There’s no pressure to do every day and going back to older days is totally fine too! This is supposed to be fun and low pressure! :)

Finally got around to making a list for that Hogan’s Heroes/Taylor Swift prompt list I mentioned a while back, so welcome to Cruel Summer at Stalag 13!! (cannot for the life of me decide if I love or hate the event name, it’s real hard to make a combo of Hogan’s Heroes and Taylor Swift 😂) Lemme know what you think, I was considering coming up with some alternate prompts in case there were some that weren’t catching your eye, but it was hard enough to come up with the 31, so if there is a Taylor Swift song or some Taylor Swift lyrics that you would have liked to see, drop me a line and I’ll add them on! I’m gonna go ahead and set it up for the month of July so everyone can have plenty of time to get a start on their creations (or if you’re like me you can just wait till the last second 😂) I haven’t decided if I’m gonna make a collection on ao3 but I will keep yall posted

For starters I’m gonna go over some rules (though I don’t really like to call them that cuz there aren’t really any rules) but anywho

If you’re writing, these do not have to be song fics, these are just meant to be prompts to inspire whatever story, art, etc. you may have inside of you, no use of lyrics or any mention of music required, it doesn’t even really need to be related to the song as a whole in anyway, so no knowledge of Taylor Swift is required

All types of media are welcome!! This includes, but is not limited to, writing, artwork, gifsets, video edits. Whatever you can come up with, you are more than welcome to share!

Interpretation is completely up to you!! Whatever idea comes to your mind, just roll with it, there is no wrong way to do it

A Message from the Hogan’s Heroes Forums on FFN:

It’s that time of year again! 2023 will be here in just 35 days. The Papa Bear Awards Committee is getting ready to help this community of readers, writers, artists, and fans to recognize excellence in Hogan’s Heroes fanworks completed during 2022. (Fanworks is an umbrella category that includes fanfiction and multimedia, such as art, memes, videos, and podfics.)

The PBAs are an annual, volunteer-led celebration built upon the engagement and participation of writers, readers, and fans. To help things get started:

Finish up those stories and multimedia works you’ve been plugging away at by December 31, 2022.

Please check over your works to see if everything that IS complete has been MARKED complete.

For fanfiction only: Please use your summary to note if the story is in response to a challenge, should be marked as slash, or is based on an episode.

We will be updating the fandom with reminders and more information as we get closer to the start of the nominating process.

What does that mean for you fine folks on Tumblr? To take some of the burden off the committee (we’re all volunteers and TBH last year kind of wiped me out a little), we’re asking anyone who is not posting on FFN to send us their own works as opposed to us scouring the internet for them. So, if you have stories that you haven’t posted on FFN, please let me know where to find them and if you would like them to participate in the event. For you artists, meme-makers and GIF(…ers?) if you have works that you’ve completed this year (or are going to complete this year), please send those along to me too. Somehow… I’m still not that familiar with how tumblr works, but I’m sure you are, so I’ll trust you to point them out to me.
