Okay chaps. Here we go. This is for all the people (and yes, there was more than one) who requested Obi-Wan in an oversized/soft sweater (dog bless you all). I threw in the additional suggestions of PJs and a cup of tea for good measure because I appreciate efficiency, and I also appreciate all of you.

No, but seriously, do you know how amazing Vincent Price is?
Tumblr media
Not just as an actor, although he was a blast to watch in everything he did.  He’s one of those actors who’s just clearly having a whale of a time, no matter how bad the film is.  He’s just genuinely happy to be there (it makes his villains a particular delight, and he played a LOT of them).
Tumblr media
But did you know that he was also on the PFLAG board after his daughter came out to him?  And that he was one of the earliest celebrities to speak out against the silence surrounding the AIDS epidemic?
Tumblr media
Did you know that when his daughter came out to him, he admitted to her that it had been difficult for him during his first two marriages, because his wives had not been pleased to find out that their husband was just as interested in men as they were?
Tumblr media
That’s right, kids, Vincent Price was BISEXUAL AS FUCK, and it was one of those open Hollywood secrets.  And his wife Coral Browne?  The one he grew old with and wrote cookbooks with and was basically ridiculously sweet with?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also bisexual as fuck.  They were the queer power couple of Hollywood in the 70s.  His daughter, Victoria, grew up around Rock Hudson and members of the LGBT community.  When she came out, Vincent Price became a board member of PFLAG and was just about the most accepting and awesome dad.
Tumblr media
Did you know that Vincent Price played Oscar Wilde in a one-man play, and when it was denounced by anti-gay activist Anita Bryant, he dismissed her right back, saying that Oscar Wilde had already come up with a term for her: a Woman of No Importance?  Because Vincent Price was deliciously witty and an awesome person.
Tumblr media
Let me conclude with a quote from his daughter (from this article, where I got a lot of this information):
‘“In a funny way, and I think I’m going to cry, he understood me at 22 better than I understood myself then,” Price concluded. “Of course, he was in his 70s and lived a hell of a lot longer than I had, and he understood that at the end of the day it’s about who and what and how we love. And I have not been a person who has been very successful at conventional relationships, but loving well and loving deeply has been the most important thing to me.”’
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Happy birthday, Vincent Price.  You were a gem of an actor, and an even greater human being.

Elizabeth I’s diamond and ruby ring, bearing her initial and taken from her body after her death in 1603, reveals more than meets the eye. A secret compartment opens to display two miniatures of Elizabeth and her mother, Anne Boleyn. The second of Henry VIII’s wives, Anne was executed on May 19, 1536 on charges of incest, adultery, and high treason. The future queen was only two years old at the time of her mother’s death.

I AM YELLING ABOUT THIS COMIC.  LOOK AT HOW GOOD ANAKIN IS, LOOK AT WHAT HE’S CAPABLE OF, LOOK AT HOW LOVED HE IS! In it, Anakin is faced with an incredibly difficult choice–where a world that was formerly neutral seems to have joined the Separatists, but because the droid factory set up there was a rush job, if they bomb the place out of existence, that means a lot of people are going to die, instead of just machines.  Anakin doesn’t want to do this, he’d rather take the risk on himself, but it’s not just him, if they warn the people there, gives them the time to evacuate, that runs the risk of their own people dying.  Either way, there’s a really high chance of people dying. But Anakin is a Jedi, that’s not how they do things, so he gets stubborn about it and even a little emotional and then Obi-Wan comes to talk to him, after Yularen sought him out.  There are no easy answers here, but Obi-Wan is so supportive of Anakin’s convictions, even when he got wound up about it with Yularen.  Obi-Wan doesn’t scold him, but instead talks with him, and praises him, that Anakin’s come a long way, he’s doing so well, “Trust your feelings,” he says to Anakin.  Because he trusts Anakin and believes in him. When it turns out that it was a trap–innocent people forced into being slaves for the Separatists, hoping the Republic would bomb them, so it would look like innocents were getting slaughtered, despite that that’s not what the situation was presented as–Anakin finds a way out and Obi-Wan praises him again, that they avoided this trap was thanks to Anakin, that the people there will have a chance to make their own choices thanks to Anakin. There are so many fantastic details here, like how it’s Yularen that says Anakin is getting emotional, not anyone else, but also he likes that Anakin challenges him and does and says what he thinks is right.  Anakin is ready to believe the worst about what Yularen thinks of him, but listens when Obi-Wan says, no, that’s not what he was getting at, that instead he was looking for more points of view on this situation.  The nod to how much of the Republic sees the clones as disposable, not really even as people, that Yularen is one of the probably all-too-few who see them as actual people, that this is the uphill battle they face while in a war.  That this is why the Jedi joined the war at all, because they thought they could save lives, that was their goal. I love it because it’s a chance to see Anakin when he was so good, this is the Anakin that Obi-Wan and Padme and Ahsoka loved, this is the Anakin who was a good man, this is the Anakin that Vader couldn’t murder in himself.  ANAKIN SKYWALKER WAS CAPABLE OF SO MUCH GOOD, THERE WAS SO MUCH POTENTIAL IN HIM.  And when he listened to the people around him, when he trusted what he was taught as a Jedi, in what he knows is the right thing for the right reason, he rises to the occasion.  Even when there’s stirrings of such anger in him when he sees the slaves, he overcomes that, and that’s the Anakin that Obi-Wan is praises, that he found his way through an incredibly difficult situation. I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS COMIC SO MUCH.

I LOVED THE WAY THIS ELEMENT OF THE STORY PLAYED OUT, I love that slavery is a white hot rage button for Anakin, but the comic doesn’t try to make him totally pure and selfless about it, because Anakin’s rage is an incredibly personal one. It’s about himself and about his mother, it’s about the people he personally cares about.  Oh, he cares about it when it’s right in front of him, of course he’ll be furious and want to slash the slavers into pieces, he absolutely cares in a generalized sense, but his real issue is about those that he loves personally. This is why he doesn’t really do much about it or talk about it otherwise, this is why Darth Vader goes on to enslave entire populations and worlds once he falls into darkness, this is why this moment is one where we’re alllll the way on Anakin’s side about his reaction and his anger over what’s happening here, how this moment is about the good in him, but it’s also compliant with the bigger picture of Anakin. Which is one of the things I love so much about Anakin Skywalker, that he’s complicated enough of a character to be both of these things.  To be a hero in this scene, to do good in this scene, to be good in this scene, but also we know this is someone who murdered Tusken children in his rage over his mother, we know this is someone who will murder Jedi children for the possibility to save his wife, this is someone who will enslave or help decimate the populations of Mon Cala and Riosa and other worlds as Darth Vader. Because his rage is about himself and his mother and the people he loves and it is white hot rage.

Ariana Grande is darkening her skin and changing her features to look Racially Ambiguous to sell to a wider audience and it needs to be addressed
Black people, who invented hip-hop, jazz, and rock and roll, have long been tastemakers of American cool. In many ways, fashion, music, and slang are dictated by black people no matter how little credit they get for it..
In fact:
“Our research shows that black consumer choices have a ‘cool factor’ that has created a halo effect, influencing not just consumers of color but the mainstream as well,” said Cheryl Grace, senior vice president of U.S. Strategic Community Alliances and Consumer Engagement, Nielsen.
Thus, presumably, if you want to be cool and sell records, you ought to start acting black. In fact, it’s great if you’re not black and act black because you get the benefits of being cool without the baggage and limitations of being subjected to racism.
Its what the Kardashians, Iggy, Justin Bieber, Ariana, and alot of other celebrities do in order to rise in popularity as well as be accepted into the black community.
Grande’s music is largely influenced by hip-hop and R&B, meaning that in order to build a fanbase, she needs to court listeners (ahem, black folk) with those musical preferences. Grande, who is quick to shut down any perceptions about her ethnicity being anything but Italian. Most people presume Grande is Latinx, not necessarily black, when mistaking her race, but I am here to tell you, most Latinos are part black, sis.
Thus, for years, Latinx women have been sounding the alarm: Grande is doing brown face. Look at her tan!! Look at how she speaks! Look at her music!
The point is: Most of us don’t get to pick and choose which parts of blackness we get to have — only white folks seem to have that luxury. And we need to give her the SAME ENERGY we give the kardashians.
