Alessandro Michele’s maximalist approach in a minimalist obsessed time not only made hundreds of billions of dollars for Kering, the conglomerate parent company of Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Gucci among other brands,but also rebranded Gucci to a more ‘Greek-Chic’ aesthetic
This now brings into question what those ‘different perspectives’ might’ve been that lead to Michele’s departure. Was it the revenue that went from being astronomically high to somewhat placid in the recent years ? Or what it Michele’s approach to handling that?
Whatever it may be Michele is making a gracious exit knowing that he has changed fashion forever, bringing in Harry Styles at the forefront with his flamboyant outfits appealed to the Gen-z and the eccentric way they approach fashion. This not only established Styles as a gender breaking fashion icon but also made Gucci more 2020s savvy ditching its ‘old money’ aesthetics
