On Cara -- Wake up TTP fandom.

[Prompted from a discussion with dontcallmeboss that I decided some of you should read.]

    For the people who hate Cara for no legit reasons other than “she cheated on John” or “she kicked John out” or “she’s a whore/skank/slut/bitch” or, my personal favorite, “She’s stopping mAI OTP FROM BEING 2GETHER!!!!1!!1!11one”

        I do not like you.

    There are perfectly good reasons to dislike a character, and none of those are even slightly good reasons.

    Cara is a complex character. Her relationship with John is clearly one that started out more physical than from an emotional attachment, and it obviously grew to emotional attachment. I refuse to even argue why Cara isn’t a slut, because it’s so blatantly obvious. Her and John never were ‘official’  or whatever. People don’t see it from her perspective. The part of me that still sees Cara as a muse sees what she can.

    The poor girl had a bunch of crap thrown at her, she has trust issues among them, and it’s sad. The man she loves, who she trusts, kept these horrible secrets from her. The man she loves lied to her, repeatedly. Every time he mentioned ‘finding Roger’, he lied. And from my personal standpoint, John is a complete asshole for doing so, yet the fandom makes him a martyr and calls Cara a bitch for finally dealing with his shit. Normal women would break up with a man if they found out that kind of shit, they’d be gone in a heartbeat. But Cara sticks by John, even defends him from Mike. But John gets bitter over being booted out from leader (don’t deny it, he totally does), even though he never really wanted it to begin with, he was just trying to fulfill his promise to Roger.

    While I do question the writers when they decided to have Cara act against saving Stephen, I can semi understand it. They had the freaking daughter of THE FOUNDER in their hands, who is wicked powerful and totally against her dad, like a perfect weapon, and John was going to throw away their only leverage on a guess that Stephen was in serious trouble.

    She loves John, and Stephen. I don’t care what the percentages are, or who she leans toward more, but John broke a direct order, and regardless of him regurgitating her line at her, she did what he couldn’t and put her foot down to draw the line. Then John had to be a little shit and pole vault across that line by being a fricking dickwad, and again, undermining her because of the fact that he wasn’t in charge anymore. And Cara, bless her, she didn’t take his shit. John deserved it, and in my head, he knows that. And he can’t blame her for it. For being strong enough to divide her position from her feelings, which is a damn tough call.

          Is that worthy of fans calling for her to die?

                    Are you serious right now?

    This fandom needs to take a step back and re-evaluate their decisions from the perspective of Cara. 

    Because I will always defend her, and Stephen (another rant for another day, I’m afraid, but it will probably happen sooner than I’d like if this fandom doesn’t get their shit together). I may roleplay John, but damnit, HE EVEN UNDERSTANDS THAT THE BLAME SHOULDN’T FALL ON CARA. Why the hell don’t people get that?

    TL;DR: Back up, take a deep breath, see situations from other character’s perspectives. And don’t bash a character unless you have GOOD REASONS. I feel like there is more to add to this, but meh. I think it’s good enough.
