Ok hear me out cause what if after Crowley learnt all his work on the stars was just meant for them to be pretty and be looked at by humans and had no function at all and all his suggestions were simply getting ignored he was fuming and so he made the Sun and he made it so that it was going to be absolutely essential to any form of life on Earth and he also made it so that humans could never look at it directly or else they would literally burn their eyes and that's when he got banished
"And if that's true what you say, that God makes no mistakes" Crowley raised one finger "then God is a bastard"
"Crowley!" almost screamed Aziraphale
"Ah what! What are they gonna do to me?" the Serpent snapped "Kick me out? Rip my wings clean off my back and leave me there to bleed? What!!"
"Take you away from me?!" cried the angel "Again?!"
The demon froze.
"I'd rather they didn't, you know" Aziraphale murmured "I've grown quite fond of you Crowley, if you didn't notice" he looked down at his own shaking hands. The demon's yellow eyes were fixed on the angel's, nothing else of his figure moved; not a breath, not a heartbeat (not like their body needed air and a beating heart, but still-)
Aziraphale's voice started to break into small sobs "I remember how it felt when I first lost you, when I barely even knew you, and now" his sobs grew faster at each word "after all this time, oh I believe an existence without you at my side would be unbearable!" the angel sounded surprised at his own words, his hands clenched in two fists, silvery tears of fear and anger slowly filled his eyes, he wouldn't dare looking up.
Crowley was not any less surprised. So still. So silent. He blinked, once- he rarely ever did.
"So" Aziraphale sighed, after a minute of silence that felt like a century "it is in the most selfish of manners that I am again asking you" he finally looked up to his demon "- begging you, to please be careful"
Crowley blinked again. He raised his chin, slightly pushing his jaw out. He moved to Aziraphale and again raised a finger, capturing one single tear from the angel's lashes. He inspected that tear attentively, like a puzzle he couldn't solve.
It was Aziraphale's turn not to move a muscle: his demon was having a conversation with himself, and he could almost hear every word.
"For you, angel" the Serpent finally sighed, swallowing a gulp of resignation and unconditional love "anything".
They stood there, holding hands and looking into each other's eyes, for what we perceived as days but only lasted a few seconds for them.
I am also unsure about how to get back in solid form, I think I'll just float around for a bit, and yes, I do enjoy the idea of finding you here as well! =^.^=
OMG HI IT'S YOU I LOVE YOU and i'm still in vaporized form
'Tis I! I don't Tumblr often but I'm glad to hear that some people enjoy it when I do. Do I offer you a towel? A fan? I'm unaccustomed to managing vaporised people.
The resurrectionists minisode appears to retroactively change the rules in the gomens universe as to how crowley can be summoned to hell — after all, in s1 and in the book crowley needed to be collected by hastur and ligur in the holy water scene. So i’m now headcanoning that something simply changed between 1827 and current day, and that something is that aziraphale saw crowley get pulled down for doing a good deed and vowed to consult every book on earth to find a way to tether crowley to the earth from now on unless physically dragged to hell so he’d be safer
Ah no no, if I'm going down I'm dragging everyone with me
I wrote a thing. Porn with Plot and some historical accuracy.
Aziraphale acquires his bookshop and Crowley hangs around (he is not being helpful, not at all). The Arrangement sends Aziraphale to Yorkshire and he returns with a new sweet that may just provide a little more satisfaction than either he or Crowley were prepared for.
