Although it's almost 2 years now that you were called home, it hasn't been the same without you here with us. We know you are more than likely jamming it up with Papo & Uncle Leon... Not to mention, so many others that have gone since you've been called. I just wish I could hear your laugh 1 more time as you crack a joke with me over the phone or on video chat. Happy Birthday Peanut!!! I still can't believe this is real... I just can't wrap my head around this... I can't not be able to just hit you up on DUO and sing you your birthday song and then shoot the breeze with you about what you've done in the year's recap from your last birthday, like we hadn't been talking all throughout that time in between. I don't have my big brother around to tell me it's all going to be okay. I don't have my big brother to pray with me when it just feels tough (Today for instance has been a blur, yet I can still hear your voice in my head). I know deep down you are no longer in pain, your are no longer stressed out and no longer having to worry about your health. All in all, it's hard, yet we're blessed in the comfort that you're spending your birthday in Heaven, hopefully resting, however... I also know you're more than likely partying up there like a Rockstar. I still miss you terribly, yet I take comfort in your birthday today, knowing it's 1 of your presence still around us, even though it may not be physical Take heart my brother that I miss you more as the time passes, yet we will see each other again as it may be many years here on Earth before that happens, yet it's a blink of an eye in Heaven. I still can't bring myself to the reality of this. I can't even wrap my head around the fact that I can't call... I can't DUO you anymore. Our mother can no longer reach out to her 1st born son. Our sisters can't call to their brother. My nephew & nieces can't just stop by to check in on you just to say, "Hi". So many of us aren't able to reach you anymore, however... You're now alongside God in heaven resting as you long-fully deserve, although I feel you left us too early. I'm struggling to remind myself God makes no mistake, yet this pain rocks me! Chapter 24: In the beginning, no one EVER told us it would be easy... Not 1 soul mentioned the hurdles... Most sat quietly in the stands & watched to see which way the scales would shift. Then... There are those who helped to pour into, feed, nurture, cultivate, & even call us out when we needed it. 24 YEARS!!! Up, downs, sides-to-sides, & all around, we are standing stronger & on firmer ground than ever before. Oh, understand there's still more work to do, however... We've learned (and we're still learning) what it takes, not only to continually build on what we have & are growing into, but to also REENFORCE the foundation of what this relationship of true blood, sweat, & tears is & continues to be. Today marks a day that changed my life 24 years ago. You all know the story already... I saw her & BOOM! I knew she would be my wife, however... Some of you only see the GOOD, only because we chose early on to NEVER make our life a public spectacle. Never chose to put our business out there or even dare to air any dirty laundry. The journey from then to now has been 1 of many bumps in the road, pitfalls in the path, & detours along the route, yet & still, here we are. I continually thank God for the blessing He has allowed for me to have her not only as my wife... My strength when I'm weak, my rock when I'm stumbling, & my up-lifter when I feel down. To my best friend, my confidant, my ride-or-die, & yes, my LOVE... I thank you for taking a seat & buckling up for the ride we have only yet traveled for a bit & I pray you're still having as much fun as we continue for another 24 and should we be blessed, another 24 after that.
