Honestly be pretentious as fuck about the stuff you create. Do a press release for your fanfic updates. Do a Q&A about your webcomic. Make fake merch designs for your OCs. Commission "official" book covers. Very few of us will ever get to a stage where something we've created Makes It Big but even if you have an audience of 5 people plus a shoelace fucking indulge yourself and pretend!! It's the only way to live!!

Fuck Israel and fuck everyone who still wants to pretend this is confusing or complicated. Is it really that hard to point out the "bad people" in a scenario where a multi-billion military apparatus is handcuffing and killing children and medical staff inside a fucking hospital?

What is the obsession with comparing Bonnie to witch’s on a different show? Compare them to each other not Bonnie. Bonnie Stan’s could be praising Bonnie for her power or hyping her up then here come the haters ready to discredit anything she’s ever done.
The Bennetts are the blueprint to TVD remember that!! Had it not been for Qetsiyah you would have no originals, doppelgängers, other side, immortality and the cure.
A Bennett witch told Esther about immortality and was her Bestfriend/MENTOR. Remember that!!!

the subtle racism portrayed by Julie Plec and TVDU (especially Klaroline fans) fans as well towards Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood) is something that will always irk my soul. Both the actor and the character were done SO BADLYYYYYY. I know that since Tyler is written as a white character, technically his writing wasn’t “racist”, but I have reason to believe that Julie may have written him the way she did due to her issues with Michael Trevino.
What do you think about Tyler Lockwood? I think he definitely is one of the characters with the most potential besides Bonnie, etc. Most of the POC in the show (actors/characters) had the most potential and were sidelined.
IN FACT, I can say the same about Enzo! Yeah, Enzo St John is a canonically white character, but Michael Malarkey is a mixed race man (Italian/Palestinian-Lebanese), and we know how Julie is towards POC.
Like I’m not trying to blame all the bad writing on racism and discrimination, but all the POC actors/characters have shitty storylines and a lot of them are racist.
Lucy, Sarah Salvatore (the black Salvatore), Enzo, Tyler, Marcel, Vincent, Bonnie, Qetsiyah, etc.
Coincidence?
Tumblr media
Whenever I discuss race, I do want to preface it by saying, I am white so I am speaking from that point of view. If you disagree or have another perspective, I would love to hear it.
That being said, I don't even think we can call what happened on the set and in the show "subtle" racism. There was such overt racism throughout the show that it is hard to discuss the show in any way without discussing racism. Just because Julie Plec doesn't view her actions as blatantly racist, it doesn't mean they are not.
Just the fact that they had two actors who are ethically not white but were portrayed as white is telling. Both Michael Trevino and Michael Malarkey were made to appear white in the show when there really wasn't a necessity for it. Tyler being Mexican could have added to the history of the wolves or it could have even come from his mom's side, allowing them to cast a Latina woman. For Malarkey, his race isn't really discussed but it would have been so easy to show him making Bonnie a nice Lebanese meal when they were staying at the cabin (cause lord knows the zionists running the show wouldn't allow him to be Palestinian). I also personally just like Tyler and Enzo more than Damon. I would have been fine with killing Damon off earlier to allow more screen time for them.
A year or so ago, my friend began watching the show for the first time and by the time we got to The Originals, as soon as Sabine walked on screen, she said "Does she get killed this episode?" People of color, especially women of color, were treated as disposable by the network. To the point that Tyler and Enzo likely only survived as long as they did because they were "white" characters. But it is also still obvious how much worse they were treated than any other side characters. Tyler and Enzo are both killed in such nonsensical ways and then they have no justice or even mourning. Tyler was a lifelong friend of the Mystic Falls gang and yet Damon isn't even sternly lectured for killing him for zero reason. Tyler had escaped the supernatural world. What was the point of dragging him back on the show just to kill him and have Damon suffer no consequences. He was Caroline's first epic love and she just forgives Damon for it? And what was the point of Enzo's death? Just to make Bonnie suffer more? Just to make her attend the wedding of his murderer? I know Stefan had his humanity off, but that doesn't change the fact that Enzo was dead and Bonnie was still grieving.
Moving on to how the fandom treats them. There is honestly so much hate in this fandom sometimes, and you're right, there is definitely a racial element to it. The way Tyler is treated by the fandom is so telling. I don't know if a lot of the fandom even knows Michael Trevino's ethnicity, but he is clearly seen as "other" or "less than" by the fandom. We also have to acknowledge how his "angry outbursts" are seen as unacceptable but when Klaus does it, it is because he is just so "passionate." The scene where Caroline keeps pushing Tyler to forgive her for sleeping with his mother's killer comes to mind. He snaps but he makes no move to touch her, and this is after repeatedly telling her to leave and her pushing his boundaries. I have seen the fandom call him "disgusting" and an "abuser" because of this, celebrating the fact that Stefan punches him. Stefan uses physical violence against Tyler's words, yet Tyler is the abuser? Then we have, Klaus, who runs her through with a coat hanger and bites her because she said something slightly rude to him and he is praised for "saving her life." It's hard to believe there isn't a racial element here. I often say Klaus gets pretty privilege, but why isn't that awarded to Tyler? Because we can't deny that Michael Trevino is attractive (I'd say more attractive than Joseph Morgan but y'all will come for me).
There was so much left of Tyler's story. The fact that they even had the Lockwoods as the protectors of Inadu's bones in TO would have been a perfect way to bring him back. Can you imagine Hayley or Klaus having to go beg him for help? It would have been such an amazing moment. But no, instead they bring Matt Davis onto the show to make sure he could infect every single spinoff.
You mention all of these characters and that's just in TVD. TO was no better. One of my mutuals recently got into a Twitter 'discussion' with one of the writers and the writer attempted to claim that the Mikaelsons were white supremacists and that was the point of TO, to show it was bad. Yet, when did they do that? How did they show being a white supremacist is bad? The Mikaelsons were at the top of the food chain the entire time. Yes, they constantly had people coming for them, yet they always won and the writing was always done in a way to make the audience root for them to win. How many POC characters were sacrificed in order to prop up the main characters throughout the shows?
Whenever we talk about racism in the show, we have to talk about Bonnie. Bonnie was constantly having to sacrifice her own wants and happiness in order for her white friends, and even enemies, to get what they want. Often when she set a boundary, the fandom villainized her. According to the writing and the fandom, her entire purpose was to serve the white characters. That is blatant racism.
But it's not just Bonnie. It's her entire ancestry. The fandom seems to believe Emily is Katherine's friend in the flashbacks, but she is clearly either being enslaved or at least some type of servant to Katherine. We can go all the way back to Ayana who Esther stole her spell to create the vampires. Or to Qetsiyah who was cheated on and used in order to aid the white doppelgangers. These things separately may not raise any flags, but the fact that we see it happen repeatedly throughout the show tells us it's more than just a coincidence.
Let's not forget Damon was not a confederate solider in the books. Julie added that. And yes I know he deserted but he says it is basically because he was missing Katherine, not because he morally opposed what he was fighting for. They added the founding families and yet didn't make the Bennetts apart of it even though they had been there longer than anyone. They were actively celebrating slave owners. Tyler's mom makes a passing comment of why they have the chains in the cellars and everyone just moves on. They chose to have the Mikaelsons live on a plantation in New Orleans. They chose to hire a very white cast and make it even whiter by white washing and killing off POCs.
Sure TVD is set in Virginia, but Virginia is only 65% white. So why was the cast 99% white? Then they create a whole show in New Orleans where 59% of the population is black, yet we still have a majority white cast? And when they introduce POCs it is usually to serve the white cast. Both Vincent and Eva were brought on so there bodies could literally be used by the white characters. Eva and Vincent's trauma were completely neglected and Eva was even killed off to allow Rebekah to use her body as she pleased whenever Claire Holt wasn't available to be on set. I've already discussed the difference in how Aurora is treated versus Celeste by the show and the fandom. You can read that here. Marcel is constantly belittled and sidelined, even after he is upgraded. There are so many witches of color in New Orleans, yet Davina is the most powerful? Why couldn't she have been played by a POC?
The show repeatedly dehumanizes people of color, especially the women. It's not a coincidence. It is pure racism. And because the show does it, the fandom does it. I am not taking responsibility away from the fandom. Each individual person should know better. But media is supposed to influence society. If we grow up with media that glorifies and celebrates different races, cultures, ethnicities, the fandom will begin to as well. Julie had no desire to do that. All she cared about was ratings and her own racist viewpoint of the world. She could have done more research, or hell, even just listened to her cast, but she chose not to. The writing of the show suffered because of it, but even worse the actors and even fans suffer because of it.
There are so many great creators in this fandom who are POCs and I highly suggest following them. They are able to give better insight in the discussion of racism in the show. But please keep in mind, they do not owe you their time or energy. It is up to each of us to do our own research and learn.
Thank you for the ask! I hope I answered it. Sorry it was so long.

⛥MILLENNIUM OF HELLFIRE⛥
Desmond always felt miserable since his mom died and his dad grew cold. But as very weird things happen,he discovers that he is a witch from a ancient line with mystical powers and a world of shadows, when his dad ships him off to his aunties to learn the art of sorcery in the Olympic Peninsula.
But while trying to discover himself, his life becomes tied to a protective werewolf and vampire as blood-curdling mysteries converge on the town, which includes the dark forces of his past, that want to consume him and the power that slumbers in his soul.
⛥MAIN CHARACTERS⛥
Tumblr media
Caleb Mclaughlin as Desmond Jameson
(THE WICKED WITCH)
(18.Genderfluid.Gay.Gemini.Witch*)
"Simon,Marcos, you don't understand,if I can't stop them from freeing their master,if I don't stop this coven from making Forks,a sacrifical bloodbath,he will come for all of you. He'll burn the town down and that means I can't save you and I can't save the others,I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to any of you"
Tumblr media
Jack Champion as Simon Quinn
(THE NOBLE VAMPIRE)
(19.Cisgender.Pansexual.Leo.Vampire*)
"Well, unlike the other Cullens,I wasn't turned by Carlisle. He took me in after my Sire introduced us.She thought it was a good fit.But I miss my family,Desmond.I still remember as Elijah butchered them, one by one.I was the only survivor and now,I wish Elijah had killed me with them, instead of being this frozen being that kills to survive"
(I know I have rewritten this series, many times but after taking the time to plot out the first book as a spinoff series to other supernatural series,I've started the first book:No Rest For The Wicked.I decided to set the first book in Forks, since Twilight was the first supernatural novel,I loved.
The feeling I have for the story is a supernatural murder mystery as James's Coven and a Coven of Satanic Witches sacrifice people in ritualistic murders, which gain the eyes of the mains and the others protagonists.
Also I wanted to explore what it means to be a supernatural of color since the TVDU doesn't deal with that very well.My story also includes characters from Twilight Life and Death,so for example, the Cullens are more poc and queer then the stale bread of canon!
In this rewrite,I wanted to make the Trinity's relationship,a slow burn to build their bond because they are the Golden Trio(Harry,Ron and Hermione of the TVDU)

CONFESSION:
While I enjoyed my BG3 playthrough for the most part, as a POC I can honestly say I feel far more comfortable and safer in the Dragon Age fandom. Sure there is racism within the fandom but it can be easily called out. I have my small circle of friends that I enjoy hanging out with. Some of us have known each other for so long we even play some online games together because we built trust with each other. The BG3 fandom is not welcoming at all to POC players. I did not feel safe. That was my experience. And I really do not want to see the same feedback for Dragon Age because if pretty obvious if some people had their way characters like Vivienne would not exist.

I made some au lore to go with my monster high redesigns.
Those were supposed to be a fun exercise in character design. Now it's bubbling out into a whole thing.
Here's the world lore so far
Monster Castle, or Monster High Castle was built in the 1540s, but there are parts of the building that seem much much older
Old legends state that long ago, before living memory, Monsters ruled the world. But infighting between different species left all of monster kind open to an attack from humans.
The war was swift and brutal. There were massive casualties. Monster kind was brought to the brink of extinction. Monsters have lived in the shadows ever sense.
Monster High was built in 1542 to reunite monster kind and help them survive in the human-dominated hostile society.
All kinds of monsters exist, but the largest living factions are vampires, zombies, werecreatures (and the creaturekin), specters, water monsters, bone creatures, and bug monsters.
Other monsters do exist, and factions all have their own allegiances.
There is a difference between a werecreature and a creaturekin. Though both have animal features, and see their strength increase with the moon, creaturekin were born monsters, werecreatures were born human and had to be bitten or otherwise infected
"Zombies" include all undead or reanimated monsters, and include monsters like Frankie
Witches are their own faction, some covens are exclusively human, others a mix of human and monster. Though they are rare, whiches are almost just as outcast from normal human society as monsters are. As such human witches are allowed to attend monster high.

Villainizing Grief
Tumblr media
I was thinking about @theobule-caul's post here about how often fandom defends its celebration of villains (but only if they're good-looking white male villains) at the expense of female characters and characters of color. What's insidious about this is how subtle it can be, so subtle that fandom can tell itself that it's just telling an alternative story and not actively engaging in racist double standards and erasure of female characters and characters of color.
I can think of no better example than the way the Sterek fandom loves to rewrite the end of Season 3B of Teen Wolf. In Insatiable (3x11), the nogitsune, wearing Stiles's original body, has the oni kill Allison Argent. It was a shocking moment for the audience as well as for the characters. Scott ends the episode having led Allison to her death and holding her cooling corpse. It's tragic.
For a traditional television hero, the next episode would have been about Scott coming to terms with the love of his life dying in his arms, but Teen Wolf chose not to do that. The first scene in the next episode is Chris Argent instructing Scott on how to create an effective cover story about Allison's death, implying in the line "it's what we do" that Scott can't grieve right now. He must be the leader that he never wanted to be. Instead, other people -- Stiles, Isaac, Chris himself, and even freaking Ethan (notice a pattern) -- get emotional scenes which express an emotional reaction to Allison's death. Scott won't be able to mourn Allison until the season ending montage, where he gets ten seconds of silent crying in his dining room (as I frequently say at this point - Don't strain yourself, Davis). Instead, Scott spends the final episode focusing entirely on saving Stiles to the point that even after such loss, Scott won't contemplate Stiles's sacrificing himself to save others.
Jeff David did know his audience. He knew that he should have only white male characters get to express feelings about Allison's death in The Divine Move (3x12). Scott doesn't. Lydia doesn't. Noshiko doesn't, and it was her oni that killed an innocent girl. In fact, Scott won't mention Allison by name until the Benefactor (4x04) -- four episodes into the next season -- when he's forced to tell the Sheriff that her name is a key word for the dead pool. He won't get to actually verbally admit that she died because he led her to fight the nogitsune until Monstrous (4x10) when he's talking to Liam and even then doesn't have time to actually express more than a fleeting emotion about it. Scott won't perform any sort of mourning until the first episode of Season 5. For a relationship that Jeff obviously considered one of the cornerstones of the series (so much that it was the focus of the reunion movie), it seems strangely thin, doesn't it? But Davis understood how little his audience cares about a character of color's feelings.
But don't worry! Here comes the Sterek Fandom to the rescue! They will give Scott the opportunity to grieve! Yay!
AND THEN THEY WILL CONDEMN HIM FOR IT.
It appears all the time; it's very popular. When you look at stories where Scott is a Bad Friend or Stiles is Pushed Out of the Pack, it is very frequently due to Scott's reaction to Allison's death. There's a new story today where Scott is angry and blames Stiles. Don't worry, Scott will be made to apologize for grieving by the end of the story. In various and numerous stories, Scott has been lectured or scorned by his mother, by Derek, by Lydia, by the Sheriff, or by Peter (!?!?) when it's made perfectly clear that Scott McCall's primary and unending mission is to focus entirely on Stiles's emotional state and accept anything that his "best friend" decides to do, whether it's show up drunk to Allison's funeral, abandoning Beacon Hills, refusing to talk to Scott and instead choosing Jackson to be his new best friend or sleeping with a Hale.
The twisted part of this is that the Sterek fandom takes what happened in canon -- Scott sets his grief aside to take care of Stiles -- changes it to its opposite in their writing, and then uses that grief to make him the bad guy. It might seem strange, but it serves very specific purposes.
Doing this undermines Scott's and Allison's relationship as the predominant relationship of the show. Sterek fandom has been wanting to do this since Season 1. It's necessary for them to argue that Scott didn't reject Derek or Peter because they were brutal and selfish, he rejected them because Scott was obsessed with Allison. The fact that Scott clearly wasn't -- especially in this situation -- reinforces the canon reason that Scott wouldn't follow Derek or Peter, and it is hard to write apologia for a villain character if the lead protagonist had a legitimate grievance against them.
Doing this denies Scott's virtues as the lead protagonist. This is basic bashing. Even though canon Scott again and again showed compassion and concern for people he had every right not to do so (to the point that Stiles keeps scolding him about it), if they can portray Scott as focusing on his own emotions, they can argue that he's essentially selfish. Think about that -- they leapt at a chance to show a boy grieving for the girlfriend that died in his arms in order to convince their audience he's a villain.
Doing this makes it easier to conjure a relationship for Stiles and a white male character which supplants Scott's relationship with Stiles. It isn't enough for them to craft a relationship between Derek and Stiles (or Jackson and Stiles or Peter and Stiles) that didn't exist in canon -- which are completely legitimate ships, by the way -- because they also have to destroy his pre-existing relationships in a feat of bitter envy.
On the surface, it might easy to miss the connection between allowing a character of color to grieve and using it to promote white male characters (and defend white male villains), but it exists. Grief isn't bad in Sterek stories if it's Stiles or Derek grieving. Grief is bad when Scott grieves (someone other than Derek or Stiles and even then he can be scolded for even thinking that his grief is on the same level as Derek or Stiles's). This is exactly what the original post was talking about it when it complained about "sometimes transplanting whole story/personality elements of characters of color / female characters onto their white villain faves to explain why they're 'sympathetic' while also denigrating the CoCs/FCs for the exact same traits." Grief, as Jeff Davis perceived, is only heroic when a white man does it. In a character of color or a female character, it's an obstacle.

"B-but Palestinians can get their freedom with peace not violence 🥺🥺" no. Screw your feelings. The armed resistance against colonizers and murderers is what will give Palestinians their freedom and what will eventually achieve real peace.
An enemy that bombs and uses white phosphorus against civilians doesn't know nor practice what your broken moral compass describes as "peace". Freedom was proven throughout history not to be achieved through kneeling and asking the oppressor to kindly stop. Freedom needs to be taken by force. Your little Utopian way of thinking doesn't work in the real world. Your feelings don't matter because you're not the one living under occupation. Your feelings don't matter because you're not one of the thousands of children who lost their limbs. You're not one of the children who became orphans due to this genocide. You're not the mother who lost her child to the carpet bombing. You're not the father carrying the remains of your child in plastic bags. You're not the newlywed woman who lost her husband. You're not the one at risk of either getting killed any second or losing your loved ones in the blink of an eye!
"Peace" is not really a thing you see during a live ethnic cleansing!

Did... did TVD ever explain how Klaus and his family went back to Europe from Virginia?? Did they just like build a ship or something for a year while on the run from their dad?? Did they swim across ocean or something?? How did they stay undescicated over the literal months journey it would take to get there when we know they couldn’t contain their bloodlust in the early days?? These are things keeping me up at night. I get the symmetry of having the man that would kill Elena be from the same town she from as well as the original doppelgänger being born there too but... Vikings??? In Virginia??? WHYYYYYYYY
I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it so much. The episode where it turns out they’re Vikings was the death knell of the show. The train didn’t pop off the tracks, it literally exploded.
Here’s the thing that KILLS me: the original backstory of “wealthy landowners from Eastern Europe” made so much more sense. 1) it’s such a neat tie in with vampires being endemic to Eastern European folklore (like, I know they appear in other cultures as well, but at least this was a nod to one mythology). I just thought it was really neat to say, oh, yes, the vampire folktale hails from Eastern Europe so obviously the original vampires are Eastern European 2) we were deprived of Russian!Originals. I’m bitter about this. GIVE ME ILYA. 3) their names. why. are their names like that. I can’t stand the way that the writers were literally ALL OVER THE PLACE trying to decide whether their names should be Old Testament or Viking or... German. And Mikaelson. Mikaelson. That “surname” is a travesty. I just can’t take it. Rebekah isn’t even a -son she’s a -döttir. The idea that maybe they tinker with their names and none of them go by the names they had as mortals is like the only way I can make this name game feel better.
I honestly have no answers for you other than to share in your revulsion of this particular plot detail. I try to block it out. I try to avoid mentioning it in my fic to the extent that I can just like how I completely cut out Amara from all of my fic verses.
It’s just... they were already in Europe. They started in Europe, they were in Europe again in 1492, why not just have them remain in Europe? Or have them travel more plausibly to Asia and to Africa? I’ve never thought of the timeline on building the boat or how they avoided dessication but it’s another plot hole. I feel like the whole point of this was for the stroytime in the cave but that made absolutely no sense either (why did the cave author know more about Klaus’s tea stained laundry than his siblings?). Honestly just writing about this is driving me wiiiiilllllllldddddddd.
