“You’re the only one I trust to do this.” You mumbled, shifting uncomfortably in front of Dallas, “Please?”

Dallas’ gaze was unwavering on yours, his blue eyes locked in a hard stare. The door to his room was closed, but the loud music and louder voices could still be heard through the thin walls.

You weren’t new to Buck’s, you had been in here quite a few times, in fact. But you were new to the whole sex thing. The need had never really overcome you, but for the past few weeks the idea of losing your virginity had not left your mind.

The question was with who. It wasn’t like your virginity was a big deal to you, but you did have the preference that you lost it to someone you knew, someone who loved sex and would take the opportunity to have it, and Dallas was the perfect candidate.

“No.”

The tow-headed boy crossed his arms, his blond hair waving as he shook his head.

You gaped at him, unbelieving of his refusal. The bed creaked when you stood up and crossed the room to stand in front of him.

“And why not?” You placed your hands on your hips, standing up straight and giving him your best mean stare.

Dallas grinned, reciprocating your movements by placing his hands on his hips, his voice mocking your tone, “ ‘Cause you ain’t ready.”

His reasoning shocked you, your gaze falling as you took a step back. The cocky grin remained on his face, his eyebrows rising at you. Anger slowly overcame the shock, your eyes narrowing at the idea that he thinks he knows what you’re ready and not ready for.

“Yes I am, you shut your mouth.”

“No you ain’t,” his response came quick, “You jus’ want to be on the same level as every other broad. I ain’t sayin’ I don’t want ya, and when the time comes I’ll be happy to do it, but it ain’t right now.”

You shoulders fell, because he was right. And you didn’t ask how he knew it, because you knew the answer. Dallas was smart, he could read anyone like a book, he knew what someone’s intentions are. Better yet, he knew you like the back of his hand. You had been friends for years, he looked out for you whenever he could and that came with the price of him getting to know you like he knew himself.

He nodded his head, taking your silence as confirmation. Motioning to the door, he held his hand out to you, smiling as you laced your fingers together, “C'mon, baby doll, lemme buy you a drink and we’ll talk ‘bout this later.”
