To develop #fashion stories and collections of sketches and #croquis that express and evolve your style, point of view, technique and vision thru various media. What will your collection look like and how can you take your sketches to a new level by committing to a program and applying it to the visions and aesthetic that are u inquest to YOU?? You can start as soon as you sign up. This week only you’ll receive Fashion Design Infusion 8 hour masterclass series FREE with enrollment (777 value). Dive deep into the arts of adornment. Drawing Fashion Design with Brush Pens
Drawing Fashion Design with Brush Pens
When we are drawing fashion design, what is our goal? Brush Pens bring a rich drama to the page when we are aiming for drama, mood, texture, expressiveness, and definition. The wide range of expressions that com out of a single brush pen can be just what you needed to emphasize layers and folds, pleats, gathers, ruffles, overlaps, or crisp shadows under hems. Bursh pens speak the very language of…

Brown Paper bag fashion sketching
Brown Paper bag fashion sketching
Brown Paper Bag Fashion Sketching Brown Paper bags are toned paper- why not make use of them as such? In Fashion Sketch Group a few weeks ago I sliced up this paper bag into one long panoramic length of paper (with the handles on both ends) and sketched the model poses across it. I used blacks and whites for my Paper Bag fashion sketching because I knew that the paper bag itself would hold a…

Plus size Fashion Model Sketching
Plus size Fashion Model Sketching
How do we even define “plus size model?” If, In the fashion design industry, sizing is unregulated and inconsistent across the board. In fact; in fashion schools, students are still learning —and teachers and illustrators often perpetuating the use of— proportions that don’t exist in human form, then where do we decide we are in the range of “plus”? When I design or sketch, or teach fashion…

Adobe Fresco for Fashion Illustration
Adobe Fresco for Fashion Illustration
I’ve been very open about how I don’t adore Procreate nor Adobe Fresco for fashion illustration on my iPad… (and I’m also very easy to articulate EXACTLY WHY- read on) and how sad I was that they discontinued my beloved Adobe Draw and Adobe Sketch apps… (which were some of my favorites featured in ABOUT FACES) and combined them into this new Adobe Fresco app that CAN DO WHAT Draw and Sketch…

Here is another exploration from the same session as my upside- down drawing (previous post). DRAWN WITH MY NON-DOMINANT HAND in #gouache. I’m a lefty, i did this #drawing with my right hand in our live session. We all did the same pose with our non- dominant hand and it was soooooo obvious how much more movement and soft, wild truth came through from participants.... A level of movement that we can have difficulty accessing when we are trying to be perfect. Not only does switching hands relinquish control and invite a playfulness .... But it also slows you down, heightens your attention, and balances hemispheres of your brain. I love bring people ESPECIALLY MYSELF lol - through these sorts of exercises! because we are usually so distracted by how odd we feel while doing them and immersed in strange curiosity and feeling of “newness” and openness That its only when the “time is up” and the pose is over That we “snap out” of the almost hypnotic state and see objectively what we’ve actually done!!! There are so mamy different ways to feel to focus to free and to refine our approaches to drawing the figure and interpreting it as our own personal expressions! It’s really always a neverending and always evelving journey into the self and reconnection with our truth and source. Personal for each of us, our style and journey emerge and evolve endlessly. We begin July 14 - a group online studio journey deep into #modeldrawing #figuredrawing #fashiondrawing and #fashionillustration for just a few souls. SO fun and magical. DM me for more info! https://www.instagram.com/p/CQtDW1psaGy/?utm_medium=tumblr

WHY DID WE DRAW FROM AN UPSIDE-DOWN PHOTO IN #MOdeldrawing #fashionsketchgroup last week?? Because its an amazing way to break free from the “left brain” and get way more HONEST about what we see. Its truly amazing what happens when you get “tricked” or “fooled” into your innate and previously untapped ABILITY!!!!!! When you move into playful territory and are forced to lose the control you usually cling to for safety,.... The ego gets edged out.... You, like me and hundreds of clients i’ve worked with over the years, will find ..... that you are more accurate with less strain or stress than when you “have all the control”!! I talk all of the time about #drawing “from the inside out”, which we’ll talk more about this week, but for today let’s talk about UPSIDE- DOWN with the rememberance that When we are turned upside down? We get a 180 degree shift in perspective. My July #fashiondrawing #figuredrawing intensive is geared for beginner to intermediate + designed to completely re-arrange the way you think about drawing, + about your art supplies, + about yourSELF and how + why you create!! It’s 8 online studio sessions involving basic technique +mechanics, Plus truly innovative + refreshing approaches to drawing + sketching with various media to explore + express throught the female form in ways that awaken your senses... Through gorgeous music, vibid color, expressive line, gorgeous garments.... Light and shadow, texture, dynamics, style, storytelling, and The confidence that experience brings In a cozy intimate small group where vulnerability, discovery, and connection infuse our container. #8 sessions, we brgin July 14- August 13 meeting Wednesdays and Fridays 4-6:30 to dive in deep together . Early bird price ends July 7, DM me for more info if you KNOW IN YOUR HEART this journey is for you! It’s going to be unforgettable and FILL your sketchbooks with discovery, adventure, feeling amd exploration. Either way, I used a brush tip watercolor marker on marker paper to create this #upsidedown drawing +was thrilled when i flipped it uprightaa as were the participants in our sketch session! Try it today, limit yourself to 5 mins, tag me! https://www.instagram.com/p/CQsHGiKMJXC/?utm_medium=tumblr

I have a secret! Swipe left for my secret.... the “undersketch”. I used a brush tip watercolor marker to “map out “ my #modeldrawing before taking a fresh sheet of sketch paper to create my “clean”-ish sketch on top, using a fresh sheet. That’s the beauty of sketch paper- it’s sheer enough see through. The drawback of sketch paper is how it wrinkles up when wet. Anyway, It’s very freeing to create a drawing where you alteady know where everything needs to be places— That just frees you up to get playful with other decisions and expressions! Brought to you from: Another sketch from yesterday’s #fashionsketchgroup session Oh ✏️ I used oil pastel for the yellow and #EBONYPENCIL for everything else (DM me for the ongoing subscription link— I have 2 slots for our cozy weekly group Wednesdays 2-4 EST). https://www.instagram.com/p/CQO_PYGMzvH/?utm_medium=tumblr
