Infusion day - Round 4. I have to say that, although I don’t like this, it’s not painful and it only takes about an hour, half of which is setup time. What I am really not liking is radiation. Today was the 22nd time and I am so ready to not be doing it ever again. The pain is pretty bad, but I only have 8 more appointments, so I keep telling myself that I’m strong, that I can do it. I’ve come out of the closet (so to speak) and have ditched all hats and bandanas. #thisisme for now, anyway. Even though it looks like it in the picture, my hair is not completely white, only around my face is it this way. It has come in dark, like the color hair I was born with, that then simply started coming in blonde several months later. It never fell out, just changed color. I am hoping it does this again! The one good thing about this is it is incredibly easy to take care of! Round 3 of 12 Having infusions are definitely easier than chemo, but still no fun. And just to add to the ‘fun’ of this part of my cancer journey, I am also in week 3 of 7 weeks of radiation, Monday through Friday at 8am. I am exhausted. The radiation is kicking my butt. I am, of course, having an usual side effect and that is that I’ve completely lost my appetite. I am simply never hungry. I lost 10 pounds in the first two weeks. The fun just never stops! And my hair is growing super slow, like hardly at all. Cool looking flower and an update...today is round 2 of my hormone blocker. This is cake compared to the chemo I endured last fall. I will also we starting radiation in the next week or so. That will be Monday through Friday for 7 weeks! Apparently the actual radiation therapy will only be around 5 minutes. Here we go again... first round of 12, not technically chemo, just a hormone blocker. The good news is between the chemo last fall and surgery two weeks ago, my cancer is all gone. I will have to get radiation after this step, just in case there are some microscopic cancer cells still hanging around. What a huge relief! Thank you so much for all the prayers, positive thoughts, wonderful emails and emotional support you have all provided me over the last 6 months. I very much appreciate it.
