Mastery Journal for Final Project and Thesis
This was my last class for this program, and I believe it effectively fulfilled its goals.  When I wrote my map for this master’s degree, I was naive to think that I was going to be in the planning stages of “doing” something with what I had learned from all these classes.  I was pleasantly surprise to find out that I indeed was going to be implementing a true Public Relations campaign for a real client.
Things seem to have come together all at the same time for me to be able to start a new path in my career while taking this last class.  Most of the material that I came across this time around related directly to what I am doing right now in my new job.  I could have never imagined that I would be here when I originally wrote my Mastery Journal Map at the beginning of this program.  
I am so grateful that we have shared all our work in this class.  Every single member of this team had something to teach me, and I was very impressed by their professionalism.  Being a newcomer in this business, I certainly learned a lot from all of them.  I have a long way to go, but they have pointed me in the right direction.  The sky is the limit, and I know I can do it.  Time to fly high!

Mastery Journal for The Online Media Room
Talk about a rough start!  This class was straight out from Murphy’s Law.  Everything that could go wrong did.  I had to start the class more than once, but I am so glad that when I finally did it, the timing was absolutely perfect.  I read the Journal that I originally had written for this class, and I certainly read all the materials, watched all the videos, and did all the research I wanted to do about this subject, but the most incredible thing happened on my second week of this class:  I actually got hired to do “exactly” what this class is entitled for a pretty big company based out of Boca Raton, Florida.   Every one of my duties seems to have been taken out of the syllabus for this class.
I must admit I am scared to death having taken this job, since it is my first experience being in charge of such an important task for a company that is very well known.  I am thankful that I reviewed the information on this class several times over because I feel like I am actually applying all the knowledge of this subject first hand.  It is an exciting time for me, and it is ironic that on my original mastery journal I mentioned several times I would seek out a mentor in the field.  I am happy to say that my direct boss is surely becoming that person right now.  I look forward to asking all the questions and learning all of her best practices.  Wish me luck!
I am most grateful to Ms. Lee and her guidance thru this class, and I appreciated all the insightful feedback my peers provided about my work.  The fact that we all shared our websites and our Capstone Projects brought so much light to all the material we covered, that I gained lots of knowledge to apply to my own project.  This course was a pretty fruitful experience. I am glad that I finally took the class with this group of people.

Mastery Journal for Reputation Management Strategies
Clearly when I wrote my original post regarding this class, I was not clear as to what this class entitled.  One of the things I wanted to do in most of my classes was to seek mentors in the subject I was studying.  Finally this time it happened!  I am currently doing an internship at Barry University with the Miami Music Festival.  The company that gave me this opportunity is here every summer, and I have had the opportunity to learn so many things while working with them.  It is truly exciting to put into practice what I have been learning in class this month.  The PR firm that works with this company has allowed me to have so many of the questions that I have in the subjects we have been studying right now.
One thing that I learned is that managing a reputation is pivotal to making sure your business is solid and creates a positive expectation for your intended audience.  The PR firm I am working with is very small, but their reputation precedes them in such a way that anywhere I have been while doing this internship, everyone treats us with the utmost respect.  If I can in the future manage my reputation as well as they have, I will surely be successful.  Due to hurricane season starting in South Florida, we even had a small meeting regarding crisis management.  It was not as in depth as the material we are learning in the class, but it was a live demonstration of what crisis management is all about.
One thing I had no idea about when I first wrote my post for this class was anything to do with dark websites.  I am very interested in learning much more about it than I know now.  I think that they could be very useful for many other things besides crisis management.  I am very grateful that we learned about this in this course. Without a doubt, the material that I have learned in this class will be useful for my future career.  I am glad to have been exposed to the material that was covered in the class, and I am saving the extra reading material offered because I know I will find stuff there that I will be able to use in my professional life.

Event Marketing and Promotion
This was a rough month. I have been dealing with a work injury, and to “add insult to injury” my two laptops died! Not the best time for these things to happen since I had to create some marketing for my project, and promote my event at the same time. Needless to say, when I read what I had planned for this month when I first started this Mastery Journal seems comical, for lack of a better word.
I actually enjoyed this course greatly, in spite of the difficulties I encountered technically speaking. I thought that the resources for this material were very useful, and they will be of use in my future career. I particularly liked the additional materials offered in Safari Books. There is plenty of stuff there to fill a library with information that is very useful. I also learned, like in all of my courses that implementing the ideas that one has for a project is a lot more difficult than expected.
The creation of the webinar was my favorite part of the class, and although I don't particularly think I did an extraordinary job, I believe that I learned a good amount of information for the future. I learned from my classmates in this class a great deal by looking at what they had created as well. I look forward to putting into practice what I learned about marketing and promoting my clients for sure. I have become very interested in creating webinars because of this class. I am glad that this information was part of this course.

Mastery Journal for Media Relations
This was a thought class for me.  I started with all the same intentions I start every other course I have taken so far in this program, but somehow this was a lot harder to accomplish than any of my other ones.  While I carefully read all the materials, and watched all the videos, somehow there was something escaping my understanding.  I guess I never realized how difficult it is to convey what you have in your mind successfully to other people, especially journalists, and people that can help you influence your audience.  I stumbled thru the task of being able to personalize my message to the people I needed to disseminate my information to a larger audience. After having a difficult start, I can say that I learned a lot from this class. I had the opportunity to dig deeper in understanding of what the organization I am working with is about, so I had an easier time conveying the information that I wanted to other people.  I had the chance to see first hand how a client of this organization felt about their services, therefore I found it easier to use that testimonial to attract my target audience.  I just regret that it took me until the last week of this course to figure out certain things regarding the media that I could have used earlier on during this course. Overall, I think I feel more confident to make use of the media for the purposes of marketing the ideas that I have for a client.  I made some contacts while trying to research all of this that should prove very useful in my future, and I have gotten involved in an internship that is directly related to media relations.  I am confident that the struggles that I had during the course of this class are going to prove to be a positive learning experience in my future career.  One thing I can say about what I learned here is that I will surely not forget it any time in the future.  I guess it is true what the say about no pain, no gain.

Mastery Journal of Market and Consumer Research Analysis
When I first wrote about the 12 month journal for this degree, and I thought about Market and Consumer Research Analysis, I obviously had the vision that I would learn the basic concepts for this matter, but never in my wildest dreams did I even envisioned I would be so involved in the subject.  It is an understatement to say that I have learned a lot more than I anticipated, but the most surprising part has been that I have set out to do a media campaign for an organization that is so far from the music business as one could ever be. My dreams of asking questions became a full reality when I encounter all the situations I have while doing my own research for this pretty interesting organization I have decided to engage with.  Also, because of this involvement, I have found out that the “experts” I was looking forward to learn from come from all different expert fields, much different from what I ever thought.  I have with this experience learned that my music background is pretty much that, a background that could be utilized in so many different ways as a professional.   As a final thought, I can say that I have definitely enlarged my vision about the prospects for my profession.  Much to my surprise, this field of study is pretty versatile, and I cannot wait for the next few months to find out what other knowledge I will be acquiring that will surpass what is written in paper.  I am grateful for the fact that I have been learning as I do, because to me that is the best way to do it.  I look forward to the next class, and I appreciate this one for the lessons learned.

Mastery Journal for Social Media Metrics and ROI
   This class surely was a wake-up call for me.  Since I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree only last year, this class was tough for me.  I thought that learning this course materials in a purely educational way would be enough, but I have come to realize that I am a lot greener than I thought I was in my current career.  While Full Sail University has prepared me to work hard and learn by doing, this class taught me that I must take the time to sit down, put a plan in paper, set goals, figure out what I am really trying to do and then try to start executing all those things.  The material I learned thru this class is invaluable, but the best lesson learned is that I must seriously prepare myself for the future if I am committed to do what I want.    While I have come out of this class learning many things about Return of Investment (ROI), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the use of all kinds of tools to measure all of those elements, the biggest learning in this class is that progress can only be made by taking the time to create a plan that has defined goals, to find out what the best way is to implement those goals, and to measure them to see if I am on the right path to accomplish what the plan is set out to do.  This class was a challenge for me since my brand is not fully defined, and I have realized that even when music is my passion, the skills that I have been learning in this course of study can be applied to many other fields.  That is one of the reasons why I chose a totally different organization for my final project. This lets me exercise other parts of my personality if you would.    Another take away from this class is that technology is the way to do things in this day and age. It is here to stay and in order to keep current, we must definitely learn everything possible there is about it.  I am glad that I was able to learn all the new ways to measure the effect of what I put out in social media.  It gave me an insight as to how powerful that avenue is to influence others in ways that were never available before.  My plan after this class is to continue to put into practice what I have learned from it in order to be more effective with what I use social media for, either for personal or professional use.  It is not a joke to say that I was social media illiterate before I took this class.  I am grateful that I was exposed to this material.

Mastery journal for Innovative Tools for Public Relations
The goal I had for this course was to learn about resources used nowadays for Public Relations and Marketing.  I thought that the knowledge I was going to get was going to be new information, but to my surprise, I came to realize that the social networks that I currently use both personal and professionally have been developed so much, that there are features to them that I had never knew existed.  It is without a doubt that social networks and the use of social media is a fact of life in most people’s and companies’ daily routine.  While traditional forms of advertisement, public relations and marketing need to be used for certain pockets of the population, the new tools that have been developed are a must for any successful company or product in this day and age.  
A plan well thought of, determination and hard work are obviously needed to manage a public relations brand, but I realized thru the materials in this class that managing the use of internet tools is one of the most important tools one can utilize in order to develop a clientele, promote a product or idea, and ultimately be successful.  These new internet technologies whether they are free or paid are very useful because the take the place of marketing studies, focus groups, or any other type of preliminary market study we ever used before.  Social media management and analytic tools such as Facebook analytics, Youtube insights, etc. have features that I had not idea existed, and they will definitely be a huge help to me for my marketing study, and to gauge the success or failure of the projects, videos, and other materials that I decide to promote.  
The one thing I confirmed again thru this class materials is that effort, passion and dedication are never outdated.  Once you know who your audience is, and you have an idea or product to promote, nothing is given for granted.  The use of Internet tools requires not only knowledge, but also the time to make sure that once you cast the net, you are ready to pick it up with the catch.  This not only signifies that you will reap what you sow in terms of income and success, but also that you are ready to take input from the people that follow you.  This has been very well exemplified by the Red Cup campaign from Starbucks.  Listening to the audience you are trying to attract is essential to keep their loyalty.  This class material will definitely be useful to me in my career.

Mastery journal for Legal Aspects of Media
​When I first saw this course in my curriculum, I had the impression that I would loathe to take this class. I had a bad taste in my mouth from a class similar to this in my undergraduate program. Gladly I can say now, my experience was different than what I anticipated. There is something to be said about having more experience in your field of study, in your career. The subjects studied in this course make so much more sense to me now that I have had more contact with actual hands-on situation. I have now another perspective of how important the things dealt here are for the success of my professional career. ​I can say that instead of a favorite assignment on this course, I have what is my favorite part of all the assignments. I would say that the fact that I learned about all the subjects by studying actual cases, and then applying my knowledge to mock scenarios gave me a broader perspective of what each one of the concepts were. I am an auditory learner as well as a kinesthetic one. The practical, hands on application of the various subjects made it more interesting as well as easy to understand. If I must chose one subject that made a difference for me, it was the learning of how important it is for a communications professional to make sure that we do not misappropriate intellectual property. While the copyright laws, deceptive advertisement, defamation and all those other subjects presented here are very important and necessary knowledge to have in this business, I believe that the most important outcome of this class for me is the fact that as a professional, you must act ethically in everything you do. Laws are made to be followed, otherwise the consequences can be very dire, but if you have a conscience, and you follow the straight and narrow path, you will definitely avoid all the legal complications that come from trying to take short-cuts. Although I realize that I did not come out of this class as a “legal eagle”, I realize much more clearly now what the importance of all this concepts are.

WRITING FOR INTERACTIVE MEDIA MASTERY JOURNAL
This course so far has been my favorite of this curriculum. When I first wrote down what my goals were for this class, I was not completely aware of how interesting this type of writing and researching would turn out to be for me.  Writing for interactive media captured my heart and imagination further than I expected, and I think that going forward, it will be part of my professional life in a very special way. I have always known that the music business is my natural niche, but researching and speaking to people about various other subjects has made me aware that entertainment and journalism can come from very different places.
One of the most curious things I found out by doing the assignments in this course was that there are many perspectives of the same thing, even when people are gathered together seemingly for the same goal. Something else that I learned with this class, even when intrinsically I thought that way, is the fact that there are many very interesting people in all walks of life that bring important subjects to the table.  If one learns to communicate what these people can contribute, you can reach audiences that you would have never thought possible.
The tools that I have been learning to use while in this course will definitively prove very valuable in my professional career. I have a feeling that what I have learned from them is just the tip of the iceberg. I look forward to deepen my knowledge of all these resources so they can assist me with furthering my mastery in social media writing.

PRD Mastery Journal
My objective for this course was to learn different ways to promote my brand online. Throughout taking the course Public Relations in the Digital World I learned many things that helped with that objective such writing reports. I also learned how to communicate with others in a professional level.  Robert Cialdini’s Six Principles of Influence are the following: reciprocity, scarcity, commitment, consistency, consensus and liking were amazing examples on how I want to promote my brand. The discussion posts were also very useful because I received a lot of helpful tips on how to enhance my brand. Social media was a huge part of the class. It taught me of things that I should and shouldn’t do. I also loved learning about public service announcements. I enjoyed learning about Word Press and in Google Analytics. I can’t wait to further my knowledge with tools like these. I loved how much variety my classes created throughout the month. I learned from every individual of the class. I never knew how important it was to promote my brand. It is extremely important to pay attention to the newest media. After taking this class I realized that the majority of today’s audience is online. I also noticed how some brands that I like use their knowledge to grab my attention and I am beginning to utilize their tools for my promotions. There are many different people and things that make you succeed. In my opinion researching is one of the most important parts in creating your personal brand. If you don’t research on analytics, social media, news, etc, you will always be a stepped behind other brands. The audience and communication are also a crucial part in creating a brand because without them your business will not succeed. I am excited to learn more on how to expand my knowledge with professionals in the industry so that I can help create something bigger and better.
