❀ – It was rather amusing, the confused tone that overtook the boy’s voice as he seemed to try to figure out just what she was doing. She had caught him by surprise, she figured, even more so than he surprised her. Or perhaps the aftershock just lasted longer for him. “You should try it then” she beckoned to the other to get on the Hippogriff, purposely being vague as to what she wanted him to try. She paused for a moment, to listen to the other. He stood still next to the creature, still not mounting himself on top to ready himself for adventure. A large grin grew on her face as he spoke, as if she’d already known what he would say, which she figured, she probably had. Letting out an unrestrained laugh, she replied merrily “You clearly underestimate how fast my dog runs. We’ll go by air. It’ll be faster, and more fun.” Leading her hippogriff so that it was standing directly before the other, or so she calculated, she addressed both the boy and the creature at the same time. “I think he likes you” she whispered to the two, before turning towards Vincent. “Come on, we should probably get going soon.”

❀ – She made her way hurriedly down the flight of stairs, perhaps less with the intention of arriving where she was meant to be, but more so to simply make her way in any direction other than the one from which she came. Thoughts bombarded her mind as she descended the staircase rather rapidly, considering. She did attempt, of course, to mask her thoughts, force a smile when necessary, but still there were times, and not rare ones at that, in which she let an exasperated sigh or a careless whisper slip from her mouth. She quickly realized the consequences of her actions, which was, she supposed the reason she’d been descending the stairs in the first place. She’d often find herself not thinking, or perhaps thinking too much in situations such as these. It was hard to read people, rather complex creatures, and being one herself, she would get sidetracked analyzing her own thoughts, thinking them over as if she were standing outside of her own body, scrutinizing each of her actions and her thoughts as they showed on her face. And perhaps it was this exact type of distraction which drowned out the sounds of the other as she spoke and left Alexandria motionless on in the middle of the staircase.
Slowly, the words caught up to her and she returned to reality. Through all her scrutiny, of herself, of Arabella, and of whatever else she must have been analyzing, else it certainly wouldn’t have taken so long, she had come to one conclusion and no other. She would have to face the other, standing on the third to top step of a moving staircase and there, and only there for if she missed this opportunity, if one could deem it so, she would certainly avoid the situation, she would either choose to tell her the truth in a complete, rather inappropriate formal speech or she would have to shut up about it forever. Though initially set on the former option, she quieted her thinking as she listened to the other speak, as perhaps that would lend some clues as to what she was meant to do next, or possibly provide her with more options. The words that fell from Arabella’s mouth put Alex in a state of shock which merited her former processes, an incoherent jumble of thoughts all pressed into a few seconds.
Was it ill-will that she had so unknowingly expressed to Arabella for so many years? She never meant any harm, never meant to be rude or exclusive towards the other, though her lack of expression of these facts would naturally lead to this misinterpretation. And when, she wondered, did Arabella come to this conclusion? It was the single most important question to a person at a time like this, one which over all others repeated itself again and again in their mind. At what point did the other lose their childhood innocence which so wonderfully protected them from the truth? How long had it been since then? For all that time, Alex could only imagine, Arabella had to dwell on these thoughts. Not only of Alex’s thinly veiled dislike of the other, but of all the childhood friends she had considered to be close, all the boyfriends she might have ‘loved’. She knew of this experience, as anyone does, that moment of clarity in which one realizes how they’ve been for the past years, how others have thought of them, how, had they known themselves at the time, they wouldn’t enjoy their own company much either.
Perhaps it was this very phrase, followed by a rather solemn, though wistfully proposed reminder of their past, which convinced Alex to save her monologue for another day, and perhaps plan it with this in mind. A melancholy, yet cordial smile shone genuinely on her face as she considered a possible way to invite the other to join her, perhaps break away from their old, now heartbreaking tradition. With a quiet sigh, one she hoped wouldn’t be mistaken for having the same origins as her previous, she gave the friendliest response she could think of. “No not the dungeons” she began with a little hesitation. “Not when there’s Quidditch practice going on. I’m sure you were going the same way” she glanced to her side, where she was sure Arabella would be at this point, flashing a knowing smile her way before reaching out her hand as a gesture of solidarity, waiting for the other to accept.

✺- It wasn’t necessarily due to lack of social awareness (though her inability to keep her hands to herself at a good majority of times might speak volumes otherwise) that Arabella found herself so keen upon the brunette as she had been what was nearing a decade ago. Well-aware that she wasn’t particularly liked — she’d always had quite the knack for easily spotting where she was indeed wanted and slotting herself comfortably into such a place —, it wasn’t merely to her brother’s surprise as much as her own that she continued to push forward towards a friendship that, sad as she was to admit, was likely to never actually manifest. Yet her helpful ways weren’t exactly conditional — they weren’t the sort that came as bonuses to forging a friendship with the brunette, and instead, she was all too happy to lend them towards one who was, whether she wished to admit it or not, in need of such a friendly helping hand. Be it with emotional or physical baggage — it just so did happen that for this time being, she could do no more than lend her physical hand, not wishing to intrude further upon someone whose voice, at first note, sounded with nothing but distaste for her presence.
The way a soft look overtook the entirety of her features, drawing across as it snapped a sigh right out of her, eyes finding themselves in a comfortably glimmering chocolaty state as they fell upon the other, was surely one for sore eyes — one which many didn’t get to feast upon due to her very House. “You don’t need to mask over how much you don’t care for me, Alex — … andria.” She managed helplessly, a snicker floating out of her lips. “I’m nothing if not aware if my reputation around here and of your ill-will towards me when we were children. Chances are if I hovered nearly as much as I’m unable to keep myself from doing when it comes to you, I wouldn’t enjoy my company very much either,” she shot back, bowing her head once before snapping her gaze back up to studying the other’s visage in a careful manner, tipping her smile to the side a little as she then wistfully added “any chance you might be going the way of the dungeons, then? Or shall I just make up that I’m going the exact same way you just so happen to be like I used to when we were five?”.

❀ – Rather proud of her accomplishment of getting her friend out of what seemed to be an exceedingly unpleasant situation, Alex strutted away from the group, a delighted grin shining on her face. It wasn’t only her recent deed that was bringing her joy at the moment, but something just about the air, the ambiance surrounding her on this rare morning. It brought out a feeling in her that no individual joy can bring a person, as if she was experiencing the environment herself. Perhaps it was just one of those moments, like sitting on the windowsill and reading for hours on end, the rain pattering away at the glass, which filled her soul just now and altered her mood to such quiet felicity.
With a slight laugh and a smile of recognition to the other’s gratitude, Alex’s thoughts trailed off to what she would be doing next. Perhaps, she figured, she would check the Forbidden Forest for the less dangerous creatures at this time, perhaps come across a Diricawl or a wild Puffskein, though she would much prefer finding one of the former type. “Actually, maybe I could use some help” she stated with an air of irony. “I was going to go to the forest, if you’d like to come. It’s probably not dangerous at this time, but we might come across some rare creatures.” Perhaps it wasn’t most people’s idea of a good time, but for Alex, the gesture was completely genuine, a invitation reserved only for her friends.

All even numbers (have fun c:)
(2) - Do they have any daily rituals?
Alex mainly follows the same routine every morning, to avoid confusion. She of course, first wakes up her dog, then grabs her cane, and, depending on the weather, makes her way outside to try to find the animals that only come out in the early morning.
(4) - What would they do if they needed to make dinner but the kitchen was busy?
If the kitchen was busy, doesn’t that mean someone’s making food? Ask them nicely, of course. One meal isn’t worth the mess she’d get into if she tried to shove her way into a busy kitchen.
(6) - Eating habits and sample daily menu
Generally, Alex eats whatever the elves cook, as long as it’s vegetarian. She’ll have a couple glasses of juice every day and she’ll probably eat whatever wild fruit she finds when searching for animals, as long as it wasn’t listed as poisonous in her Herbology textbook.
(8) - Favorite indulgence and feelings surrounding indulgence
Alex indulges in almost everything. Sometimes she’ll only eat watermelon for a full week, sometimes she’ll lock herself away for all of her free time, listening to music. But her general indulgence is often found in the outdoors, where she sneaks out to almost daily.
(10) - Neuroses? Do they recognize them as such?
None that she knows of for now.
(12) - Favorite book genre?
Nonfiction, encyclopedic books.
(14) - Physical abnormalities? (Both visible and not, including injuries/disabilities, long-term illnesses, food-intolerances, etc.)
Alex is blind, and though she’s been told her eyes look “normal”, they still don’t focus, so she tends to wear sunglasses to cover it up.
(16) - Biggest and smallest long term goal?
Her biggest long term goal, and quite a big one it is, is to catalog all the magical and non-magical creatures in one book, and have at least one pet in each group. She’d also quite like to learn Quidditch, though since she knows it’s impossible, she considers it a very small, very long term goal.
(18) - Favorite beverage?
Sangria. Coconut water.
(20) - Childhood illnesses? Any interesting stories behind them?
Well this one time she had cancer. But she was a baby and doesn’t remember that at all. Interesting story - she could see then.
(22) - Given a blank piece of paper, a pencil, and nothing to do, what would happen?
Rather illegible sketches of the last creature she met.
(24) - Is there one subject of study they excel at? Or do they even care about intellectual pursuits at all?
Care of Magical Creatures and Herbology, though she’s less interested in the latter.
(26) - Do they have any plans for the future? Any contingency plans if things don’t work out?
She actually hasn’t made any solid plans, only dreams she’s already taken action on. Though they’re not very realistic, and she doesn’t have a back-up plan.
(28) - Who do they see as their best friend? Their worst enemy?
Alex definitely sees her sister as her best friend, though she’s not quite sure who her worst enemy is.
(30) - Reaction to sudden intrapersonal disaster (eg close family member suddenly dies)?
Though she would like to say she’s rather sympathetic, and she is amongst animals, Alex doesn’t have much empathy for other people, even close family members. At most she would shed a few tears, if it were her sister, mother, or rather. But if it were anyone else, she wouldn’t feel anything at all.
(32) - Thoughts on material possessions in general?
They’re cloudy. Though she isn’t interested many fancy things, her sister is the exact opposite, so she’s never held any sort of disdain towards people who are more materially oriented.
(34) - Thoughts on privacy? (Are they a private person, or are they prone to ‘TMI’?)
Alex considers herself a private person, though in certain moods she can find herself rather comfortable around other people, but then, that also depends on the person. When it comes to what she’ll say around others, she doesn’t see the point of hiding anything, so she’ll often just let herself keep talking.
(36) - What makes them feel guilty?
It’s very rare for Alex to feel guity for something, considering she only does things if she feels it’s the right thing to do. If not, she’ll convince herself it is. She probably feels the most guilty about the treatment of house elves, though she hasn’t much to do with it.
(38) - Would they consider themselves a Type A or Type B personality?
Type B
(40) - Would you say that they have a superiority-complex? Inferiority complex? Neither?
Alex definitely has a bit of a superiority-complex and makes no effort to reduce her ego, as it’s put in place because it’s needed.
(42) - Hobbies?
Kidnapping Finding and studying wild animals.
(44) - Religion?
Not really her thing.
(46) - Do they express their thoughts through words or deeds?
Deeds. It’s rare for her to say her feeling out loud, not because she wants to hide them, only because they’re so subconscious she doesn’t believe they’re there.
(48) - How do they express love?
She doesn’t.
(50) - Is this person afraid of dying? Why or why not?
It’s not something she thinks about often. She’s not quite afraid of it, but she’s not looking forward to it either. Her relationship with the idea of death depends on the time of day.

❀ – Though she herself didn’t know anyone at Hogwarts who couldn’t read, she let out a brief laugh at the idea, immediately reprimanding herself afterwards. She knew of course that if someone couldn’t read, it probably wasn’t their choice, but the thought of a Ravenclaw, someone who most likely had all O’s on their OWLS, not being able to read was so incredible that it was hard not to laugh. Then again, she did fall under that category herself. Hoisting herself further up onto the creature, a proud smile shined on her face. “Granadilla then.” she stated with an air of satisfaction. “It’s my favorite fruit, you know. Ever had one?” she questioned the other, not too interested in the answer. Running her hands through the feathers on its back, she realized she probably didn’t look worried enough for someone who had just lost their dog. “Are we going or aren’t we?” she asked the other sternly, not giving him nearly enough time to answer her last question. Though she was well aware that Peaches was safe, probably hiding behind a tree of some sorts, waiting to run back in about fifteen minutes, she did want to ride her new Hippogriff, and it would be much more fun to do with a companion. With a slight urge from her right knee, Alex guided her new pet to advance towards the Hippogriff standing near the stranger, where she waited quietly for his response.

(40) - Have you ever had a secret admirer?
"Yes, unfortunately" she nodded her head, a large grin growing on her face. "It was in third grade, some quiet kid. I’m not sure he even saw me that much actually. Probably only liked my sunglasses."
(41) - Are you a good liar?
"No. But of course, I could be lying."
(42) - Are you a good judge of character?
"That’s actually a really good question. I do think I’m a rather good judge of character, you know, since I don’t have all the ornaments to distract me. But I wouldn’t know if I wasn’t, so I can’t say for sure."
(43) - Can you do any other accents other than your own?
"I think my American accent is okay. I slip into a weird Mexican-British accent when I’m speaking Spanish. Don’t ask me to do it because I won’t. Oh and I speak bird."
(44) - Do you have a strong accent?
"I don’t think I have an accent at all. Everyone else has the wrong accent."
(45) - What is your favorite accent?
"I take back what I said before. Colombian accents are beautiful."
(46) - What is your personality type?
"INTP. Don’t actually know what it means anymore. I only remember the letters."
(47) - What is your most expensive piece of clothing?
"A dress my sister bought for me. It’s rather comfortable and she said it was quite beautiful, but I haven’t found the right occasion to wear it for just yet."
(48) - Can you curl your tongue?
"I’ve been asked that before, but I’m not really sure what it means. I’ll probably never learn what it is either, considering I’m not too keen on feeling other people’s tongues."
(49) - Are you an innie or an outie?
"Innie."
(50) - Left or right handed?
"Ambidextrous actually. I don’t do much writing, but I perform other tasks with both hands without a preference to either."
(51) - Are you scared of spiders?
"Nope. I have a few pet spiders actually."
(52) - Favorite food?
"I’m pretty sure I’ve been asked this already."
(53) - Favorite foreign food?
"Actually my favorite food is foreign. Granadias. Not sure where they’re from though. Somewhere in South America."
(54) - Are you a clean or messy person?
"Well, I think I’m clean. But I’ve been told my room smells like, well, unspeakable things. So I’ll have to go with messy.”
(55) - Most used phrase?
"Not sure. Probably ‘you know’."
(56) - Most used word?
"Actually. Not sure why I say that so much."
(57) - How long does it take for you to get ready?
"Way too long, probably around 30 minutes. I don’t do any fancy dressing and make up stuff often. It’s just finding my way around that takes most of the time."
(58) - Do you have much of an ego?
"Probably way too much. Less than other people though, so that’s pretty sad."
(59) - Do you suck or bite lollipops?
"Not bite."
(60) - Do you talk to yourself?
"Not too often actually. Well, not aloud at least."

(24) - Baths or showers?
"Showers, of course. I love the feeling of the small drops of water falling on my head. It kind of reminds me of rain. Plus they’re a lot faster. Baths are kind of gross anyway."
Tumblr media
(52) - Favorite food?
"I honestly can’t choose. And I know people say that and they have a certain food in mind but it’s too embarrassing to say, but I really can’t choose. It’s definitely a fruit, that’s for sure. Oh, granadias! Definitely granadias. Weird texture though."

Are We Loud Enough? || Veronica & Alexandria
Tumblr media
❀ – It was a warm breeze which woke her up this morning, something that immediately drew Alex out of bed and into her slippers in a matter of seconds. This was a rare occasion at Hogwarts. Either she woke up much too late or, a case she much preferred, the weather was actually nice outside. Turning to her left, she felt a furry mass begin to stir at the far end of the bed. She wouldn’t be bothered with her cane today; she needed to be out of there as quickly as possible. Attaching Peaches’ leash to his harness, Alex was led out of the bedroom in a rather noisy manner, one which, after a few muffled groans, assured her that she was in fact, not late to class.
She made her way outside in a rather pleasant manner, feeling the warm rays on her face and hands. There was absolutely nothing that would ruin this moment for her. Nothing, that is, except for a group of reckless boys making a fuss in the courtyard, possibly scaring away all the animals that would only come out in conditions such as these. Peaches quickly caught her disturbance towards the area, and led her to go find out what all the noise was about. An audible groan escaped her mouth as she entered the small crowd, realizing that they were all there to bother her friend. “Veronica” she called out in hopes to get her friend out of the uncomfortable situation. “Could you help me out with this?” she pointed in the exact opposite direction of the group, gesturing with her head to get away.

"Being condescending isn't being nice. It's just an unintelligent way to make yourself feel superior."

Lets pretend that the person you care about most has committed the most heinous of crimes - murder. They tell you all about it, distraught, but it wasn't self-defense. Would you turn them in or help them hide?
"Well, as extremely unlikely as that is" she said, thinking of her sister, "I’d probably do neither. I’d probably try to convince them to turn themselves in because they would know it’s the best thing they could do at that point."

❀ – The moment she heard the other girl open her mouth, she realized her mistake. It wasn’t a very good plan to begin with. A simple “who’s there?” would have sufficed. But of course, she had the misfortune of asking the single most annoying girl she’d ever met to help her down the stairs. It was only after the initial regret, the self-reprimanding mental note, that shock decided to catch up with her. There they were, two Muggle girls, one physically disabled, and one – well, was Arabella. An audible sigh escaped Alex’s parted lips as the other introduced herself, though a wave of relief rushed through her, hearing that she was indeed not a Ravenclaw. Though she hadn’t made any specific attempts to avoid Arabella, in fact she hadn’t even known she was at Hogwarts, Alex still felt as if all her plans were ruined, suddenly she would be tormented by her old childhood “friend” once more.
As she came closer, Alex was bombarded with a cloud of aromas, a moderately expensive perfume, foundation, cherry chap stick, hair products, you name it. Taking a step back, she allowed some more space between the two, not only as a odor barrier, but also to distance the two, ready to take leave. “Yeah I remember you” she breathed dejectedly, hoping the other wouldn’t be too put off to run of crying, but maybe just enough to leave her alone. Realizing that she might have chosen her last words a bit too harshly, she added lightly “Bella, the one always surrounded by boys?”. Her compliment was followed with a brief smile, perhaps too brief for her purposes. “Actually, I’m good here. After six years of practice, you get used to the moving stairs.” With a few taps of her cane, Alex began descending the outrageous flight of stairs.

✺- This was surely something which Arabella didn’t often frequent — yet after befriending a surprising amount of Ravenclaws thus far this year, she’d found herself incessantly visiting the tower, be it for a study session or merely to play Wizard Chess. Which, surprisingly for someone who didn’t get Sorted into the blue-and-silver house, she was actually surprisingly good at. Shortly after making her way out of the portrait from the common room, however, she set her sight upon someone whom she figured had more or less been avoiding her presence quite often for the past few years — though that in itself was something that Arabella tossed away as a ridiculous idea, instead focused upon the idea that perhaps she’d befriended a ton more over at her own House and had little interest with partaking in any further endeavors with someone whom she’d called a childhood friend.
The curtain of dark hair covering the other’s face was but plentiful, instead making it clear who it was indeed for Arabella to see. “Oh,” she breathed out, coming near and nodding as she came up close besides the girl she’d once claimed to be her soul sister. At the ripe young age of seven before actually realizing that the other held little interest for friendship between the two, of course — yet she chose not to dwell further upon the subject, instead reaching out to grip her arm. “It’s Arabella — Slytherin. We went to the same primary school. Dursley?” she aided, hoping that she’d indeed remember who it was, be it a little spark of recognition or immense wave of “oh, yeah, it’s you”.
