There was a little bit of disappointment on his face as he felt the shift of chakra in the air and he knew, he just knew, that Kakashi had gone way too far once again. Eventually they were going to have to have a sit down talk about it, but there was a time and a place for everything - and this was certainly not it. With a little bit of effort he managed to get the shinobi up onto his back, fingers laced together underneath their rear just to make it a more comfortable hold.

"I'll take care of you, mm?" The promise, just like always, was unspoken but there. The two had been relying on one another for so long, didn't matter if it was life or death situations ( though sometimes it honestly was ) because the promise would always be there.

His shoulders roll just a little bit, a hiss sounding through his lips as some of his own injures are pushed at because of carrying the man. He wouldn't trade it for the world though. The pain kept him conscious, reminded him that he was alive, and the warmth of Kakashi on his back was absolutely incredible. "You can rest you know, it'll be okay. Just let your eyes close and I'll wake you up if we need to stop before we get to the village."

Headband being slid back over his eye brings a sense of relief and he can finally stop focusing on the eye so much now, it’s covered by his headband and would be fine. There’s a tired hum that escapes him at the words from the other. “ You’re probably right. “ they both know how often he ends up chakra exhausted, they both know how dangerously close he gets to being completely drained.

He feels dizzy as he’s moved to a sitting position, the world spins a bit and black spots dance in his vision over such a tiny amount of moving. He doesn’t say anything but dex can probably tell by how he wobbles for a moment.

“ I can walk. Just . . . Give me a moment? “ but he already knows the others mind is made up and knows he’s lying to both of them with his words so he lets himself be carried on the others back instead and it takes so much effort not to let the darkness swallow him up, so much.

It, of course, doesn't take Kakashi long to realize that the person hovering over them was indeed not a thread of any kind. The entire growling act just made him smile and laugh just a bit. His hands continue to be gentle and kind as he eventually brings the headband down over the sharigan eye, attempting to shield it a little bit as well.

"Won't be the last either." He agrees with ease. He shifts a little so that he's squatting a bit more properly, hands moving to help pull Kakashi up into a sitting position. "Alright, up we go - onto my back. I'm not letting you walk anywhere."

Typically Dex wasn't the type to insist on things - he didn't like getting carried all that much either, but he knew there was no chance of Kakashi walking anywhere like this. Besides, at least like this, he knew Kakashi would be safe. Dex would never, not in a million years, ever let something happen to this man. His best friend. His everything.

His movements are sluggish but you can tell he’s somewhat alert to notice a presence, so much so that his head snaps to the other, mismatch eyes staring and chakra draining even more as sharingan spins and there’s a growl from him even but then recognition registers in his gaze and he’s slumping again, one eye sliding shut to hide sharingan and stop the drain of chakra as much as possible. “ Mm. Home sounds good. . . “ he’s tired, beyond tired, whatever beyond tired is was what he currently was feeling.

“ We both know this isn’t the first time you’ve showed up to find me. “ there’s been a couple instances, when his chakra got to its dangerously low points ( like right now for that matter ).

A gentle squat down beside him, grey eyes slit into a displeased but understanding expression - he can feel the lack of chakra, and he doesn't need eyes to know that Kakashi probably looks exhausted. He places a hand on top of the ninja's forehead, thumb brushing along in a tender touch. "Let's get you home, hmm?" His words are light, airy, attempting to keep it casual even though it's killing him on the inside to see the other like this.

"Never thought I'd be sent on a rescue mission for the great Hatake Kakashi."

hi everyone! so like ... i'm alive. back from the dead once again. returneth to my one true love that is my baby dexter even tho he's a grown ass man in his thirties but whatever, semantics.

anyways.

i was super busy the last couple of months (my best friend can attest to this) as i didn't have a single weekend to myself. spring is concert season for me, so i was seeing back to back artists, going to events, hosting events, and working on a lot of different personal projects. there were some weeks where it felt like i was working 70+ hours as well and i was incredibly burn out.

i just got back from my vacation earlier in the week which was much needed, and i'm excited to report that dex will be making a triumphant return once his new carrd is finished. i'll also be making a new promo post and just ... generally purging a lot of things. minus a few select threads, i will be starting from scratch with interactions and what not just to make things easier.

he'll still be mostly fmab based, but his naruto verse is still one that is incredibly dear to my heart, so i'll be putting a lot more effort into that as well - it's even going to have an entire dedication section on his carrd because that's what he deserves.

anyways this was a brick wall of text and a very long way of me saying i miss you, i miss writing, and i miss being here. thank you for being patient with me ;u;

"You know why, kiddo." It was always so hard for Dex to say no to Lee - those sad puppy dog eyes got him on an almost constant basis. But a choice had to be made and, sometimes, missions came first. He had been approved to go on an A-rank on his own, surprisingly enough, and knew that Lee wouldn't be able to come despite their begging.

Of course, Dex was a sucker, and it probably wouldn't take long to cave.

With a small sigh he reached a hand out and ruffled the younger shinobi's hair a bit, a blinding smile pulling at his face. "It's a dangerous mission - you could get seriously hurt, or worse. And I don't exactly want the reign of Might Guy to come down on me."
