Quick sketch for aro awareness week! Very much enjoying all the Alastor redesigns with ponytails I've been seeing, so I decided to give him one too! Rosie is SO much easier to draw than he is ... lordie

in these scenes, his hair gets way spikier than normal, they look like knives for gods sake. this only happens when he wants to seem THREATENING

but when around people he trusts like ROSIE his hair (probably unintentionally) gets ROUNDER and SOFTER, even his coat has less spikes than usual.

I love how crazy and manic he looks is this scene

#omg I never noticed that his shadow literally grabs onto him and pulls him through #I knew his teleportation stuff was shadow related #but one hand grips the end of the microphone and the other circles his free wrist #that’s such a cool detail how he gets enveloped in the shadow from those points of contact #idk about other times he uses it #but it does feel like his shadow took the initiative to get him out of there #rather than alastor having the mental or physical bandwidth to magic himself out

yall i can't stop watching the cannibal town parts of hazbin s1 e7 and how like, important items play such a role? maybe im insane but like, first off, alastor handing over his radio is objectively the moment that got closest to "sweet" for him re: charlie

then there's alastor taking his radio back, either bc he was going to have a fucking panic attack without it or bc charlie successfully convinced the cannibals to follow her so she could now have rosie's lil skull cane, either way, rosie fills in the gap when alastor takes his radio back so charlie still has something to brandish (as one needs when singing a fun lil diddy)

then alastor fucking SUMMONING AN UMBRELLA so rosie can have a baton to sing her lines with, i just?? HELLO??? WHAT KIND OF WHOLESOME BULLSHIT IS T H I S? stop it DONT FUCKING DO THIS TO ME.

Something I haven’t seen people talking about is just how different Alastor’s radio tower is on the new hotel. Like the original one looks like a point of pride. He put the neon “on air” sign, all the arrows pointing towards it… it looks strong and sturdy, despite being haphazardly attached to the hotel. The new radio tower looks significantly more sinister. It’s attached to the hotel, sure, but in the process it’s ripped out the railings and seems like it’s trying to rip itself out of the hotel just as much as it’s grafted on to it. The antennas or whatever sticking out the top look more like barbed wire or a warning to stay away.

Idk just thought the difference was interesting. I imagine it has something to do with alastor being all put together and seemingly on top of his game in Season 1. I assume this new unhinged tower is a reflection of the alastor we’ll meet next.
