This is important. Do not feel bad when you are doing good things for yourself. You might read this and think, of course. Not me, I don’t. And if that’s true, great! For the rest of us, It’s really easy to forget the sound of your inside voice shaming you. Because, “that’s normal”, “everyone thinks those things”. Not you, anymore. When you’re doing something for you, it’s important that it makes you happy, that you enjoy it! The added stress on your mind and body that comes from shame DEFEATS THE PURPOSE of doing something to make you FEEL GOOD. Ex: you’re trying to eat better. When you go for the healthy meal, think about how delicious it is (to your cells at least), and how proud you are of making that choice and taking action to be healthier. DO NOT think about all the times you ate pizza instead, or why haven’t you started eating better sooner, or how much this is “gonna suck”, or my body’s already too ___ , or other hating on your body. Ex: a spa day. ENJOY it 🥰 soak it up. You deserve it. DO NOT think, well other people deserve it too, but they can’t afford it, so I shouldn’t. Or, I have so much work to do, why am I here “relaxing”. Either go home and do what you’re troubling about, or release any guilt you might have about being at a spa: ENJOY HER 🧖‍♀️ Ex: you’re getting yourself a sweet treat, let’s say ice cream. DO just fuking enjoy the ice cream. Love every bit of it! You’re having it because it makes you feel good in SOME way, and that feeling good holds value! DO NOT think, this is so bad for me, I’m f*cking up my diet, I’m not going to the beach after this, I can never eat right, why am I like this. NO! STOP RIGHT THERE. We usually have a weak spot (ahem, what area of life do you struggle with, I bet it’s lurking there). There’s joy and happiness in everything, and unless you’ve built a case against it, that joy and happiness comes naturally. Start recognizing when you’re building a case against it, and ease out of that. Ps DO NOT HAVE GUILT OVER NOTICING THOSE BAD THOUGHT HABITS. Be excited that you’ve found a way to be happier and be easy on yourself when you’re trying to change a habit. YOUR BODY IS MAGIC. I haven’t always had a good relationship w/ my body, but right now I do. People ask me about body confidence often, so here goes my dudes; Bodies are magic! I love my body. She shrinks, she grows, she becomes strong, she becomes ill, and she HEALS HERSELF! Muscle memory? How is that real? I LOVE IT. She is like a chameleon, I want her to be more flexible, and we become that. I want her to be more graceful, and we become that. I want her to be more happy, and we become that. I treat her badly and she struggles, I rest her like the damn queen she is and she T H R I V E S. I like her more some days and less others, but I LOVE her everyday. You’ve gotta connect to your bod to feel that love, and its easy to! Dance really helped me connect to my big squishy lump (of body). Continuing to listen to her and find reasons to love her make THE difference. I have a better relationship with her now than I did before, because I built a relationship with her. I communicate, I listen, and I TRUST her. I know she’s ALWAYS improving, and being the best she can for me. It’s literally in our DNA. We’re all different. I don’t know what will connect you to your body. But connecting to your body, loving it and listening to it, as the real relationship that it is will build your confidence in it. As someone who’s been on both sides, and gets it, that I do know. So if yer strugglin, give your body some damn love and respect, and experiment with ways of moving it that you might love. Find something it likes to do. Like THIS week. Swim Hike Play frisbee at a park Dance - duh I always say dance Grind in da club Do aerobics Run Have sex Stretch Do yoga Play with a little kid Play soccer ETCETERA TINKABOUTET BE CREATIRV ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. . I don’t think I’m awake yet. Haven’t checked anything off my to do list in days. Did not spend enough time resting this weekend. I caught me silently shaming me in my head. NOPE. 🔪Cut that story off right now! Quick reframe: I had a full weekend, many moments I’m proud of, I’m grateful for, and that made me happy. That’s valuable. I didn’t do all I had hoped to. 🤷‍♀️ it happens. No big deal. Without slips now and then the peeks wouldn’t be so fulfilling. Mentally reframing this makes me feel so much better... But doesn’t feel COMPLETELY satisfying. I’m very solution oriented. I like feeling active, not passive in creating the changes that I want. So after a reframe I give myself actions to help secure the change. 1 Where my veggies at? Where my good clean protein at? Water? Let your body function enough to respond to your requests. 2 Stretch & move ya body. Get that blood flowin to ja brains. 3 MEDITATE 4 Only supportive self talk for the next 3 hours. Honestly, pay attention to it. And just do your damn best. I’m starting all that off with a good espresso run ☕️ Take those tiny bits of good feelings and add to them and encourage them and let that momentum build, it gets easier and easier. I woke up this morning feeling happy. Then ~2 hours into my day, I opened my email and emotionally fell right off a cliff. How is it that in this world a million people can be asking for things from you all at once? People you don’t even know, and people you care deeply about. Even yourself. If you have an email address, I know you can relate. Most times I open my inbox it feels like this; fomo about what opportunities I might be missing, guilt over not getting back to people quickly enough or at all, guilt about not valuing the occasional email from friends and family. I even get fomo from missing sales (on travel usually). Every subject line is designed to make us feel bad for not opening it immediately. Knowing that doesn’t help, I’m a real feeling human, it works💔. I started crying this morning. It was too much. I remembered how much this brought me down a few years ago. How much this has affected my productivity, and achieving the goals I dream about. This has been plaguing me for too long. So I’ve resolved, THIS HAS TO CHANGE. How? I can un-sub from spammy accounts, ignore the low priorities (who am I kidding, I already do) but the fact is we live in this reality. You can’t remove yourself from email and modern communication & function well. The problem isn’t the emails. It’s the way I talk to myself when I see loads of work piled onto my plate. When I let fear takeover. I tell myself things like; you’ll never get this done, you don’t know the answer to that, you don’t have time for that, you don’t have the resources for that, you don’t have money for that, you don’t deserve that if you can’t handle this, this person is waiting on YOU, why is it so hard for you to just keep up? You’ll never get through this. I would NEVER say those things to anyone else struggling with work overwhelm. I’M DONE. Time to CHANGE this NOW, no more fear overwhelm cry repeat. REFRAME THAT MINDSET 🙌. My new Work self talk is: This is gonna be easy. You can handle this. You’re worthy no matter how many emails you tend to.
