What is Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgery?
Orthopaedic Surgery is used to treat a variety of medical disorders, diseases, conditions, trauma, and injury that affect the musculoskeletal system in a person.
Tumblr media
These involve treatment of injuries such as sports injuries to the muscles, tendons, or bones and tumors, infections, degenerative diseases, and birth defects that affect any part of the musculoskeletal structure.
What are the Common Medical Conditions Treated with Orthopedic Surgery?
Orthopedic surgery covers surgical treatment of various medical disorders and injuries to the skeletal structure as well as the muscles and tendons in the body.
Although the number of diseases and disorders treated with orthopedic surgery is large, these are some of the most common conditions that are treated using this type of surgical treatment:
Joint Pain
Joint pain is most commonly felt as we age. It is also caused due to various medical disorders as well as injuries. Joint pain can be felt in any joint of the body, including the knee, elbow, and knuckles, etc.
Back/Neck Pain
Back and Neck pain are caused due to various reasons, from mild injuries and pulled muscles to neurological disorders also. There are various orthopedic treatments available to treat back and neck pain effectively. Your doctor (or orthopedic specialist) will determine the exact orthopedic treatment which is suitable for your particular case.
Arthritis
Arthritis is one of the most common medical disorders that cause painful and inflamed joints. This disease causes the various joints in the body, mainly the knee joint, to become swollen, tender, and painful to move.
There are various orthopedic treatments for arthritis; however, the most suitable orthopedic surgery or treatment will be advised to you after reviewing various factors in your particular case.
Ligament/Tendon Injuries
The tendons and ligaments in the body provide the main connection between the muscles and bones in all parts of the body. These are very important for supporting and allowing the muscles to move the bones (and limbs).
Fractures
Fractures are breaks or fissures that develop in bones after an injury or also due to several medical disorders. Mild fractures are treated with surgical resetting of the broken bones, while compound fractures require extensive orthopaedic surgery to put the multiple bone pieces back in a natural position and provide artificial support till it heals naturally.
What are the Various Orthopaedic Surgery and Treatment Methods?
There are a large number of orthopaedic treatment and surgery techniques. The exact orthopaedic treatment and technique used in every case depend mainly on certain factors, such as the type of medical disorder or injury causing the condition as well as the patient’s age and overall health among others.
These are some of the most common orthopaedic surgery and treatment methods used today:
For Bones:
Orthopaedic surgery for medical diseases, disorders, and injuries to the bones include –
Bone grafting: This modern orthopaedic surgery involves removing a small portion of biological tissue (such as cartilage, bone marrow, skin biopsy, etc.) from another part of the body to repair the damage caused on a bone. At times, the orthopaedic surgeon will also use artificial bone materials to substitute for natural bone grafts.
Laminectomy: In case the spinal cord (or nerve roots) feels abnormal pressure in the spinal canal due to constriction of the space, the orthopaedic surgeon might perform a Laminectomy. This requires the orthopaedic surgeon to remove a small portion of the damaged vertebra (lamina) from the back. This helps to relieve the pressure from the nerve roots or spinal cord and treats the symptoms successfully.
For Joints:
Orthopaedic surgery for treating medical conditions and injuries affecting the joints in the body are –
Arthroscopy: Also called arthroscopic orthopaedic surgery, it is an efficient minimally invasive surgical technique that can help to assess the damage to the joint using a small camera attached to the arthroscope (small flexible optical fiber tube) which is inserted through a keyhole (very small) incision. This device is also used to remove the damaged bones or tissue from various joints, such as knee, elbow, wrist, etc.
Arthroplasty/Joint Replacement surgery: Joint replacement surgery is the most effective and common orthopaedic surgery. This involves replacing a damaged joint in the body (such as knee, hip, etc.) with an artificial joint implant. This is mostly a last resort in case other orthopaedic surgical and non-surgical treatments are unsuccessful.
For Muscles, Tendons, Fascia, and Bursa:
These are the various orthopaedic treatments and surgeries for different types of medical disorders and injuries that affect the muscles, tendons, fascia, and bursa –
Fasciotomy: This orthopaedic surgical treatment is used to relieve pressure being caused by soft connective tissue. It is most useful in saving limbs that are at risk of tissue atrophy due to nerve damage or muscle death.
Open Release: As the name suggests, this orthopaedic treatment is useful to treat conditions where ligaments are putting abnormal pressure on surrounding bone or other tissue/organ. As the orthopaedic surgeon cuts the abnormally tightened ligaments, the pressure is relieved, saving the risk of nerve damage, etc.

Ortho-Spine Wellness: Your Pathway to Comfort and Mobility
Disc Replacement
Tumblr media
What is Total Disc Replacement?
Total disc replacement is an alternative to spinal fusion for some patients.
During disk replacement surgery, the surgeon will remove the damaged disc and replace it with an artificial disc. The goal of this and most all spine surgeries is to help to reduce your pain and restore activity.
Maintain motion in the area of the spine where the disc is implanted
Maintain stability in your spine
Restore proper disc height between the vertebrae above and below the disc
Re-establish proper spinal alignment / curvature of your spine in the lumbar area
Reduce discogenic pain, especially lower back pain
Suitability for Total Disc Replacement
Total disc replacement is an alternative to spinal fusion for some patients. Your eligibility for disc replacement can only be determined by your doctor. Before you and your doctor agree to surgery as an option, your doctor will want to make sure that you’ve given nonsurgical treatments a reasonable trial.
Also, your doctor needs to receive all pertinent medical records such as X-rays, MRIs, and in some cases a study called a discogram, which is a special X-ray examination that involves the use of a dye. The dye, injected into a disc, serves to make it appear better on an X-ray. The injection of dye also may produce a pain similar to your ongoing back pain, which helps your doctor pinpoint that disc as the source of your pain. ALAAFIYAH CARE will arrange for all your records to be transmitted to your assigned doctor.
Total Disc Replacement Surgery
When undergoing total disc replacement surgery, you will be lying on your back, and the surgeon will operate on your spine through an incision near your belly button. The surgeon will remove the diseased disc and replace it with an artificial disc. There are alternative treatments to this surgery. You should discuss these other possibilities with your surgeon before you make your decision.
Total Disc Replacement Recovery
In most cases, immediately after surgery, your heart and lung function will continue to be monitored, and your doctor will prescribe medicines to control pain and nausea. The average hospital stay for disc replacement surgery at our partner hospitals is about ten days, which typically is much longer than what you would receive in India with the advantage of medically trained people always being close by. Before hospital discharge, your doctor will discuss a program to gradually increase your activity. It is possible that you will be asked to wear a back brace or elastic bandage to support your abdominal muscles after surgery.
Life after Disc Replacement
Pain relief, the reduction of further degeneration, and resumption of daily activities are typical goals of spine surgery. While both fusion surgery and artificial disc replacement can provide pain relief and stability, with spinal fusion, the vertebrae surrounding the disc space are immobilized, limiting flexibility in that area of the spine. Laboratory testing shows that patients who have undergone total disc replacement have more movement in the spine.
Nobody can guarantee that after disc replacement surgery you will never feel pain again or that your spine will fully regain its flexibility.
If you’re like the majority of spinal surgery patients, you’ll experience a decrease in pain, and you’ll gradually be able to increase your level of activity. With your pain minimized or no longer an issue, your concentration level on tasks will be noticeably better.

What are Cardiac Problems?
Cardiac problems refer to disorders, diseases, or malfunctioning of the heart and its supporting blood delivery system (the veins and arteries – blood vessels).
Types of Cardiac Problems
The Cardiac Problems are categorized into:
Tumblr media
Circulatory cardiac problems are related to the blood circulation system of the body. In this type of cardiac disorder, the patient suffers from high blood pressure and coronary artery disease (obstruction in passageways in the heart). These are known to result in stroke, heart attack, and even be fatal if left undiagnosed and untreated for long.
Structural cardiac disorders affect the structure of the heart, including birth defects, cardiac muscle issues, or valve malfunctioning.
Types of Cardiac Treatments
There are a large variety of cardiac treatments available today. These are mostly surgical procedures (conventional and minimally invasive) that are aimed at treating the cause of the heart problems.
These are some of the most commonly performed cardiac treatment procedures:
Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) Surgery
The CABG surgery is the most common treatment for circulatory cardiac disorders. As coronary heart disease is caused due to the accumulation of plaque (hardened waxy substance) inside the coronary arteries (blood vessel supplying blood to the heart) the CABG procedure aims to clear the obstruction.
Why Choose ALAAFIYAH CARE For Cardiac Treatments?

RF Ablation Heart Treatment
Tumblr media
What is Radiofrequency Ablation?
Radiofrequency Ablation heart treatment is a nonsurgical procedure used to treat some types of rapid heart beating. It is most often used to treat supraventricular tachyarrhythmias. These are rapid, uncoordinated heartbeats. They start in the heart’s upper chambers (atria) or middle region (AV node or the very beginning portion of the heart’s electrical system).
Cardiac Radiofrequency Ablation: The Procedure
A physician guides a catheter with an electrode at its tip to the area of heart muscle where there’s an accessory (extra) pathway. The catheter is guided with real-time, moving X-rays (fluoroscopy) displayed on a video screen.
The procedure helps the doctor place the catheter at the exact site inside the heart where cells give off the electrical signals that stimulate the abnormal heart rhythm. Then a mild, painless radiofrequency energy (similar to microwave heat) is transmitted to the pathway. This destroys carefully selected heart muscle cells in a very small area (about 1/5 of an inch). That stops the area from conducting the extra impulses that caused the rapid heartbeats.
How common is this Procedure?
RF ablation heart therapy (also called cardiac ablation) is widely used. It’s the preferred treatment for many types of rapid heartbeats. Radio frequency ablation heart treatment has a success rate of over 90 percent and a low risk of complications. Patients who have this done can resume normal activities in a few days. It causes little or no discomfort and is done under mild sedation with local anesthesia.

High Quality Pacemaker Surgery
Pacemaker Surgery through ALAAFIYAH CARE is a unique approach to first-class medical care. Our association with high-quality hospitals makes surgical procedures at reasonable rates possible for everyone. Our case managers, all medically trained, organize every aspect of your procedure and have helped many patients receive medical intervention within a reasonable time.
Tumblr media
What is a Pacemaker?
Pacemakers are implanted in patients with slow heart rhythms, heart failure, or fainting episodes. A pacemaker is a small device that regulates your heartbeat with electrical pulses. Pacemakers have two components called the “leads” and “pulse generator”. The pulse generator is placed just under your skin and has a battery and miniscule computer. The leads are inserted into your veins and heart muscle. They carry the electrical impulses to your heart.
There are three types of pacemakers:
Single Chamber, which has one lead
Dual Chamber, which has two leads
Biventricular, which has three leads
Which pacemaker your doctor recommends will be based on your medical condition?
A pacemaker implant procedure through ALAAFIYAH CARE may save you thousands of dollars for the procedure.
The Pacemaker Implant
A pacemaker implant is performed in the hospital and, dependent on the type of surgery, lasts between 2 and 5 hours.
There are two types of implantation methods:
Endocardial approach and epicardial approach. The endocardial approach is the most common.
Once again, you should consult with your doctor as to the best approach for your circumstances.
An intravenous line will be inserted into your hand or arm. You will be given medication through the IV to make you relaxed and drowsy. You will be awake during the procedure, but should feel no pain. If you do have pain, inform the nurse immediately.
You will be connected to monitors, which record your blood pressure and heart rate during the implantation.
After your chest has been shaved and cleansed, the doctor will give you a local anesthetic where the incision will be located. Once the incision has been made, the doctor will insert the leads into a vein and guide them into your heart muscle with the assistance of a special x-ray machine. The leads are then tested to ensure they are working properly.
Next, the doctor will connect the leads to the pulse generator and place the generator into the incision just underneath your skin. The incision is then closed.
Risks associated with pacemaker surgery are internal bleeding, infection, embolism, heart perforation, and scarring. Discuss the risks of pacemaker implantation with your medical specialist to make certain you are fully aware of the possible hazards.
Pacemaker Preparation
You will have cardiac testing prior to your surgery. These may include an electrocardiogram, electrophysiological study, x-rays, and blood tests your doctor will review your current medications. Be sure he or she has a full listing of every medication and the dosage you take. Your doctor may ask you to stop taking certain medications a number of days prior to the implant.
If you are diabetic, you should discuss whether adjustments to your insulin schedule during your hospital procedure are needed.
You will likely be requested to stop eating or drinking after midnight the evening prior to your procedures. Your doctor may also ask you to consume only clear fluids for one or more days in advance of the implant.
If you smoke, it is advisable you stop 6 to 8 weeks before the procedure to reduce the risk of breathing problems during the procedure and delayed wound healing.
Pacemaker Recovery
You will stay in the hospital for monitoring of your heart rate and functioning of the pacemaker.
You may notice bruising, pain, and tenderness around the incision site for the first few weeks after the implant. This is usually mild. Once you have been released from the hospital, your activities may be restricted for the first six weeks. You may possibly need to pace yourself so you do not become overtired.
Strenuous activities and your return to work can be resumed as advised by your doctor.
Certain physical movements, such as lifting, pushing, or pulling heavy objects, should be avoided.
In addition, you should not lift your arms above shoulder height if possible.
You may have to limit your use of electrical devices, such as cell phones, iPods, and appliances. Your doctor can advise you about necessary precautions.
You will see your specialist for follow-ups on a regular basis for adjustments and a battery check. A regular schedule of check-ups will help your pacemaker last longer.
Pacemaker Surgery at low cost and high quality is now within reach through ALAAFIYAH CARE. Our nurses arrange all aspects of your treatment and will act as your patient advocate.
Most importantly, we provide you with a personal touch from start until well after your procedure is completed.
We also provide information and all the logistic support.

Bone Marrow Transplant Procedure
Tumblr media
A Bone Marrow Transplant procedure becomes necessary as the only treatment option for some patients with forms of Leukaemia, severe Anaemia from destruction of bone marrow or malfunction and various immune deficiency diseases.
Tumblr media
The cost of Bone Marrow Transplant may be impossible for some patients to manage, especially for those without insurance coverage.
Yet the cost of a bone marrow transplant through ALAAFIYAH CARE is substantially less than other routes, and this life-saving procedure can be within financial reach.
Bone Marrow Transplant Procedure
A Bone Marrow Transplant is not a surgical procedure; rather, it is much like receiving a blood transfusion.
Your diseased or malfunctioning bone marrow is destroyed by chemotherapy or radiation prior to receiving healthy stem cells through an infusion by a catheter.
The infusion will take several hours.
The goal of a bone marrow transplant procedure is for the new stem cells to travel to your bone cavities, form new bone marrow and produce normal blood cells.

Lung Transplant
The surgical procedure that is performed to replace a diseased or failing lung with a healthy lung, typically from a deceased donor is called a lung transplant
Why Is A Lung Transplant Done?
Lung transplantation is considered the last resort for treating lung failure. Other treatments and lifestyle changes will probably be tried first.
Health conditions that can damage the lungs to the extent to the requirement of a transplant include:
Health conditions that can damage the lungs to the extent to the requirement of a transplant include:
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
Cystic fibrosis
Emphysema
Pulmonary fibrosis
Pulmonary hypertension
Sarcoidosis
What Are The Types Of Lung Transplants?
The types of lung transplant procedures include the following:
Single lung transplant — the transplant of one lung
Double lung transplant — the transplant of both the lungs
Bilateral sequential — the transplant of both lungs, performed one at a time
Heart-lung transplant — the transplant of both the lungs and the heart taken from a single donor
How Is A Lung Transplant Done?
Before the Procedure:
The emotional stress of waiting for a donor lung can be severe.
Once a patient has passed the required tests and met the eligibility criteria, they will be placed on a waiting list for the donor lung. The waiting time on the list depends on the following:
The availability of the matching lung
Blood type
The geographic distance between the donor organ and the patient who is going to be the recipient of the lung transplant
The severity of the condition
The size of the donor’s lung
The overall health
The patient will have to take a number of laboratory and imaging tests. They can also get emotional and may need financial counseling as well. The doctor needs to be sure that a patient is prepared fully for the aftermath of the procedure.
The doctor will give a complete list of instructions on how to be better prepared for the surgery. When the patient is waiting for a donor lung, it is good to be prepared well in advance because the notice of an organ’s availability can come at any time.
The patient needs to make sure that they keep all their contact information up to date at the hospital because the hospital should be able to contact the patient immediately if a donor lung is available. When the patient is notified of the availability of a donor lung, they will be asked to reach the transplant facility immediately.

What Is Cancer Radiation Treatment?
Tumblr media
Most common types of cancer respond positively to radiation therapy. It is used for many different types of cancers. Radiation Therapy will damage normal cells in the process of eradicating cancer cells. However, most normal cells will recover quickly from the treatment. The main goal of radiotherapy is to damage as many cancer cells as possible while minimizing damage to normal cells.
Please refer to the following pages for more information about specific cancer radiation treatments:
Brain Cancer Radiation Treatment
Liver Cancer Radiation Treatment
Lung Cancer Radiation Treatment
Pancreas Cancer Radiation Treatment
Spine Cancer Radiation Treatment
Radiation Therapy may be used prior to surgery in order to shrink tumors. It can also be used after surgeries to prevent a relapse of cancer cells. Radiation therapy has many applications and may be used either separately or in combination with other types of therapy such as hormone therapy or chemotherapy. For some types of tumors, it may be the only type of treatment needed.
Type of Radiation Therapy
CyberKnife: CyberKnife is the world’s first whole-body robotic radiosurgery system that can be used to treat multiple cancerous and non-cancerous conditions, namely prostate cancer, brain cancer, lung cancer, spine cancer, trigeminal neuralgia, etc. The radiation is delivered from multiple angles precisely to kill the cancer cells while sparing the surrounding healthy tissues. Through its real-time imaging feature, CyberKnife can track small changes in the tumor location, which is caused due to breathing or other bodily movements and adjust the radiation delivery accordingly.
Tomotherapy H: Tomotherapy H is an advanced image-guided radiation delivery system. It combines the benefits of computed tomography (CT scan) and linear accelerator. The real-time imaging guidance helps specialists plan the treatment accurately and deliver the high-dose radiation precisely to the target area. Tomotherapy H is capable of delivering up to 1000 beams of radiation traveling in straight lines or tangents from different directions and successfully destroying cancer cells. It is a non-invasive procedure, therefore there is no blood loss, long hospital stays, or prolonged recovery. Patients can continue with their day-to-day activities as they undergo their treatment.
TrueBeam: The TrueBeam is another unique radiation therapy system, which precisely delivers the radiation to destroy the tumor cells throughout the body while minimizing the damage to the surrounding healthy tissues. TrueBeam’s advanced imaging facility and treatment models allow the specialists to customize radiation delivery for each cancer case. It synchronizes radiation delivery with the imaging and thereby adjusts radiation delivery according to the smallest movement of the patient, including breathing. TrueBeam can deliver high dose radiation in a shorter duration, and this allows the specialists to shorten the overall treatment duration for the patients.
Versa HD: Versa HD is an all-in-one radiation delivery system, which delivers radiation with advanced stereotactic precision. Versa HD comes with sophisticated conformal beam-shaping technology and high dose rate mode delivery, which improves the precision and facilitates the speed necessary to deliver stereotactic radiotherapy (SRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) techniques, which require superior accuracy in tumor targeting and protecting the internal organs.
Agility Synergy: The Agility Synergy is a linear accelerator, which allows specialists to deliver extremely accurate, image-guided adaptive radiotherapy safely, in very few sessions. Agility Synergy can treat cancer present in any part of the body with greater precision along with non-cancerous medical conditions like trigeminal neuralgia, meningioma, acoustic neuroma, etc.
Artiste with CT: The Artiste with CT is Asia’s first Image-Guided Radiation Therapy machine with CT-on-rails. Artiste has a significant role in making cancer treatment more precise while protecting the surrounding healthy tissues and having minimal side-effects. It carefully delivers the radiation beam wherein the target area receives the maximum dose while the healthy tissues receive less intense radiation. This positively impacts the treatment response and recovery among cancer patients.
Brachytherapy: Brachytherapy or internal beam radiation therapy allows specialists to treat cancers by placing a radiation source inside or very close to the tumor. Radiation emitted by this source kills the cancer cells over time. This helps in delivering high-dose radiation to the target while sparing the healthy tissues surrounding the tumor. Brachytherapy is used to treat a wide range of cancers, namely prostate cancer, bladder cancer, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, rectum cancer, head & neck cancer, skin cancer, breast cancer, gallbladder cancer, uterine cancer, and eye cancer.
Hyperthermia: Hyperthermia is a treatment approach, where the cancer cells are exposed to heat up to 42°C. Best Hyperthermia is always used in combination with radiation therapy or anti-cancer drugs. Hyperthermia is helpful in the treatment of tumors on the skin, tumors of the head & neck region that may have spread to the lymph nodes, etc.
How Does Cancer Radiation Treatment Work?
Radiation Therapy is generally applied directly to a tumor. For this reason, it is considered to be a “localize” therapy. This means that it treats only a specific portion of the body. This is different from “systemic” types of therapies that travel throughout the entire body (such as chemotherapy).
During the procedure, the high-energy rays are aimed at the tumor from several different angles. This serves the purpose of avoiding damage to normal cells while providing a larger dose to the actual tumor. It also helps in allowing the rays to pass through the various layers of tissue and organs without damaging them.
Sometimes the radiation field may encompass small portions of normal tissue or other systems that are involved, such as surrounding lymph nodes. This is because the position of the tumor can sometimes be altered by many factors.
It is important that the entire malignant growth be treated with the rays. These forms of cancer radiation treatment are usually administered once or twice daily.
What are the Side Effects of Cancer Radiation Treatment?
Since radiation therapy inevitably results in damage to healthy cells along with the malignant growths, it can have undesirable side effects.
Depending on the location of the tumor, these may include: alopecia (hair loss), digestive problems, diarrhea, lung damage, urinary problems, changes in sexual function, and other radiation-associated effects.
Recovery Time is usually swift, as external beam radiation is usually an outpatient procedure.
Other forms of radiotherapy such as internal radiation therapy may require a few days of hospitalization after the procedure is completed. Side effects can last anywhere from weeks to months. This is considered to be much shorter than other forms of treatment such as chemotherapy.

Hysterectomy Surgery
Tumblr media
Hysterectomy through ALAAFIYAH CARE is a unique approach to first-class medical care. Our association with high quality hospitals in the US and abroad (which take part in initiatives introduced by US hospitals, including Johns Hopkins and Harvard Medical) makes surgical procedures at reasonable rates possible for everyone.
Our case managers, all medically trained, organize every aspect of your procedure and have helped many patients receive medical intervention within a reasonable time.
What is a Hysterectomy?
A Hysterectomy is a surgical operation where your uterus is removed either through an incision in the abdomen or vagina. Depending on your circumstances, one or both of your ovaries, Fallopian tubes and/or your cervix may be taken out as well. Hysterectomies are the second most common operations performed for women.
Tumblr media
The four types of hysterectomy operations are:
Subtotal hysterectomy: Only the body of the uterus is removed;
Total hysterectomy: The body of the uterus and cervix are removed;
Total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy: The body of the uterus, the cervix, and one or both ovaries and Fallopian tubes are removed;
Radical hysterectomy: The body of the uterus, cervix, ovaries, Fallopian tubes, top portion of the vagina, lymph nodes and channels, and pelvic cavity tissue surrounding the cervix are removed.
Who Needs a Hysterectomy?
Women who suffer from certain medical conditions might require a hysterectomy. These diseases or ailments include:
Prolonged vaginal bleeding
Uterine prolapse (your uterus has fallen into your vagina)
Endometriosis (uterine tissue growth outside the uterus in the pelvic cavity)
Fibroids (benign uterine tumors)
Chronic pelvic pain
Gynecologic cancer
A hysterectomy is major and irreversible surgery. Once the hysterectomy is performed, you will no longer be able to become pregnant.
If you are considering a hysterectomy, it is strongly recommended you visit your doctor beforehand for a diagnosis of your condition, medical advice on treatment options, and a treatment plan. You should explore all your available alternatives before you decide to undergo a hysterectomy. Please read more about Hysterectomy Preparation.
The cost of a hysterectomy in the United States is approximately $16,000. By contrast, the sum total for a hysterectomy performed in other countries is usually between $4,000 and $8,000.
How is Hysterectomy Surgery Performed?
The first is through a 4 to 6 inch incision in the abdomen.
The incision is usually horizontal underneath the pubic hair line but, in some cases, a vertical incision between the pubis and navel may be used. This type of hysterectomy surgery is performed when the uterus is large or a radical hysterectomy due to gynecological cancer is required. You will need to stay in the hospital for several days and a visible scar will remain.
The second is by a small incision at the rear of the vagina. The uterus is then withdrawn through the incision. This type of surgery is used for prolapsed uteruses.
Your hospital stay will be shorter, and no visible scar will remain. Compared to Hysterectomy in the US, your hysterectomy overseas will have a longer hospital stay, allowing you to recuperate better.
The third is via a laparoscope. A laparoscope is an instrument with a light and accessories which are used to detach the uterus, which is taken out via one of the 2 to 4 little incisions made to allow the laparoscope access to your uterus.
You will have no visible scars and a relatively brief hospital stay, but much longer than what you will find in the US.
Possible Complications after Hysterectomy
A hysterectomy is a routinely performed surgery. However, with major surgery, always comes some risks. Short term hysterectomy risks include:
Infection
Hemorrhage
Blood clots
Urinary incontinence
Anesthesia reaction
Longer term hysterectomy risks may be:
Prolapse of other organs
Onset of menopause
Emotional upset

Why Choose ALAAFIYAH CARE For Melanoma Treatment?
Tumblr media
Melanoma is a serious form of skin cancer and is quite common today. Melanoma develops in the melanocytes, which are cells that produce melanin. Melanin is the natural pigment that gives tone and complexion to the skin. Melanoma can develop in the eyes and also rarely in the internal organs, such as the intestines.
Signs and Symptoms of Melanoma
Melanoma develops almost anywhere on the body but is mostly seen affecting areas that are more exposed to the sun, including face, arms, legs, and back. Melanoma also develops in covered areas of the body, including the soles of feet, palms, and even the fingernail beds. These types of melanomas are mostly seen in people with a darker skin complexion.
These are the initial signs of melanoma:
Change in appearance of existing mole
Occurrence of new abnormal skin growth
Melanoma does not always develop in the form of a mole but is also seen in normal-seeming skin as well.
Identifying melanomas is comparatively easy if you know what to look for. These are some of the factors that help identify the cancerous nature of abnormal skin formations, such as moles.
Although most moles tend to be benign and superficial, similar moles are known to later develop into serious melanomas.
Identifying Melanoma
Check for the following points in the mole to check if it is a melanoma:
Asymmetrical shape
Irregular border
Color change
Large diameter
Evolution/developmental changes
Malignant (cancerous) moles can be of various appearances. At times, most of the above-mentioned signs can be seen in melanoma moles or they may show only one of the aspects of change in appearance.
Areas where melanomas develop are mostly on sun-exposed regions of skin; however, there are other places, such as between toes, on soles, palms, scalp, etc., where melanoma can develop too. These are also called as hidden melanomas.
These are the regions where hidden melanomas are generally seen:
Under the nails
In the mouth
Digestive tract
Urinary tract
Vagina
Eye
It is advisable to consult a doctor when any of the signs and symptoms of melanoma are seen for best and most effective treatment.
Causes of Melanoma
Melanomas are known to start when the melanocytes (melanin-producing cells) start to malfunction. Damage to the cellular DNA is known to result in abnormal growth of skin cells from it. The exact cause of damage to the cellular DNA of melanocytes is not yet known, but overexposure to sun or UV radiation is known to increase the risk of developing melanoma significantly.
How Melanoma is Diagnosed
There are several ways to determine the presence of melanoma as well as to determine the stage (level of development) of the melanoma.
Physical examination — This involves the doctor inspecting every part of the skin to check for visible signs of melanoma.
Biopsy — This is a minimally invasive surgical technique to remove a sample of the suspected melanoma tissue. In this, the surgeon will remove the complete (or part of) the suspected mole and send it for detailed analysis at the pathology laboratory.
Biopsy Techniques for Melanoma
There are several different techniques used in biopsy for melanoma, including:
Punch biopsy — This requires using a circular-bladed small surgical tool, very similar to a conventional punching machine, which helps to make a perfectly round incision around the mole. This helps to remove the suspected mole as well as the surrounding skin tissue.
Excision biopsy — The surgeon uses conventional surgery methods to remove the entire suspicious mole along with a margin of skin from the surrounding.
Incision biopsy — The surgeon will use more precision to remove only the abnormal-looking part of the suspected mole.
Staging of Melanoma
Staging of melanoma helps to determine the extent of the cancer. The doctor will check the following to determine the stage of the melanoma:
Thickness — The melanoma’s thickness is judged using a powerful microscope and using a micrometer to measure it.
Spread — The extent of spread of melanoma to nearby lymph nodes is checked.
How is Melanoma Treated?
Melanoma is treated using several different methods. The exact type of melanoma treatment mainly depends on the size and the extent (stage) of the cancer. The doctor will also consider the patient’s age and overall health in order to choose the best treatment method.
The treatment for early-stage melanoma is done with surgery. The surgeon will peel off very thin payers of the affected skin for biopsy or remove the entire melanoma along with a margin from the surrounding healthy tissue.
For metastatic melanoma, that has spread to other organs there are several different treatment techniques, such as:
Surgery for Lymph Node Removal
In case the melanoma is seen to affect the nearby lymph node, then the surgeon will choose to remove the affected lymph nodes. This is often combined with another pre-surgical or post-surgical treatment.
Chemotherapy: This uses specially designed drugs to destroy the cancer cells. Chemotherapy drugs are administered using oral or intravenous, as well as a combination of both, techniques.
Isolated Limb Perfusion: This is usually given in an isolated limb perfusion technique when the melanoma is seen affecting a specific part of the body, such as the arm or leg. This helps restrict the effects of the drugs to the affected area only.
Radiotherapy: Radiation therapy uses high-energy beams of radiation (x-rays, etc) particles to target the cancerous cells precisely. Radiotherapy is often used in combination with surgical cancer treatment to shrink the size of the cancerous tissue, which can be then easily removed with surgery.
Biological Therapy: This is an immune-boosting technique to fight cancer cells naturally. Specially designed medicinal drugs are used in this to strengthen the immune system and fight the melanoma.
Targeted Therapy: This melanoma treatment therapy uses special medicinal drugs that are designed to target the weakness of the cancer cells. Advanced melanoma can be effectively treated using expert targeted therapy.

Gallbladder Cancer – Overview
Gallbladder cancer is one of the rare types of cancers. This cancer develops mainly in the gallbladder. The gallbladder is a small pear-shaped organ located in the right side of the lower abdomen beneath the liver and is responsible for storing bile, the digestive juice from the liver.
Tumblr media
Gallbladder cancer can be effectively treated when it is detected and diagnosed in its earliest stages. As the stage of the gallbladder cancer progresses, the treatment becomes more extensive.
Symptoms
Gallbladder cancer is often not detected due to the absence of any noticeable symptoms; however, most of the time, gallbladder cancer shows certain symptoms, such as:
Abdominal ache (especially on the right-hand side)
Itchiness
Abdominal bloating
Loss of appetite
Fever
Unwanted weight loss
Nausea
Jaundice symptoms (yellowing of the whites of the eyes and the skin)
It is advisable to seek expert medical consultation in case any of these symptoms are seen.
Causes
The exact cause for the development of gallbladder cancer is not yet known. However, the mutation in the DNA of the tissue cells of the gallbladder results in abnormal rate and manner of growth. This excessive rate of growth of gallbladder cancer cells forms a tumor (mass) eventually. If left untreated, this cancer can spread from the gallbladder to other surrounding parts of the body.
Stages
Gallbladder cancer is classified into several stages, mainly depending on the extent of spread of the cancer. The doctor will perform several tests to determine the stage of the gallbladder cancer, including:
Exploratory surgery – Performed using minimally invasive surgical techniques to view the inside of the abdomen and look for visible signs of gallbladder cancer.
Bile duct examination – This involves injecting a contrast dye into the bile duct, which is useful in advanced diagnostic imaging tests. This procedure allows the doctor to get a clear image of the gallbladder and the bile duct functioning.
Other imaging tests – CT (computerized tomography) scan of the chest and abdomen along with MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) tests and ultra-sonography of the liver can also be advised with PET (positron emission tomography) scan.
Using these diagnostic imaging tests, doctors are able to determine the stage of the gallbladder cancer, as follows:
Stage 1 – Cancer is within the gallbladder.
Stage 2 – Cancer has spread to the outer layers of the gallbladder and even beyond it.
Stage 3 – Cancer has spread to surrounding organs (liver, stomach, or small intestine) and also nearby lymph nodes.
Stage 4 – Cancer is extensively spread with large tumors in multiple nearby organs and other distant parts of the body.
The staging of gallbladder cancer is most important to determine the best-suited and advanced gallbladder cancer treatment for the particular case.
Types
Most gallbladder cancers develop in the glandular cells of the organ and are known as Adenocarcinoma.
Diagnosis
Gallbladder cancer can be easily diagnosed using:
Blood tests – These help to evaluate the functioning of the liver and check for additional signs and symptoms internally.
Imaging tests – Several advanced diagnostic imaging tests are used to determine the existence and spread of the gallbladder cancer, such as MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), ultrasound, and CT (computerized tomography) tests.
Treatment
The doctor will usually consider the stage of the gallbladder cancer, the patient’s age, and their overall health status to decide on the most suitable and advanced gallbladder cancer treatment for them. The main aim of any advanced gallbladder cancer treatment is to remove the cancer or to at least halt the progress of the disease using combinations of various cancer treatment techniques.
Surgery – Surgical removal of gallbladder cancer is ideal for early stages of the cancer. The surgery may require removing the complete cancer-affected gallbladder or to remove the entire cancerous gallbladder along with a small portion of the liver.
Chemotherapy – This advanced gallbladder cancer treatment uses specialized medicinal drugs to destroy the cancerous cells in the gallbladder.
Radiotherapy – This advanced gallbladder cancer treatment uses high-energy beams of particle radiation to destroy the cancerous cells by generating targeted heat.

Braces and Aligners: Dental braces are devices used in orthodontics that align and straighten teeth and help position them with regard to a person’s bite, while also aiming to improve dental health. Braces also fix gaps.
Aligner technology is an alternative to orthodontic braces. Invisalign® is one example of this technology. It uses thin, transparent plastic shells to move teeth in small increments when worn consistently. Instead of braces that are attached to your teeth, aligners are removable and changed at intervals of 7–14 days.
Aligners are thin, clear trays made to fit your teeth. Unlike metal braces, aligners are removable. The patient is responsible for putting them in and taking them out. Patients receive sets of aligners designed to move their teeth using the same method as braces: constant, gentle pressure.
