With the web of excuses she tried to concoct up at a limited span of time, her head was about to ache any minute soon. Good thing there finally stood an offer for her just when she were about to give up, head quickly nodding as if to take up the offer with eagerness. She may or may not be keeping her promise of telling stories about their little adventure as a group, but this was the quickest escape for her to keep her lips sealed and their escapade safe, at least for now. With comfort, arms also held onto the other with enough firmness.

“Indeed, you should lead the way before I find myself getting lost.” A chuckle bubbles from the older female’s chest. She’s excited yet she fears that she would end up doing something rash, but then having fun was the whole purpose of their little plan, right? She would just have to remind herself to drink responsibly. Jieun’s statement was filled with mischief– mischief that takes her aback as she shakes her head in obvious refusal, the action accompanied by a nervous laugh. “Let’s get in trouble another time. I don’t think damage control is going to be easy after that happens.”

She let out a girlish giggle. There was a slight dread slowly spooling inside her, but the excitement fluttering in her stomach keeps it at bay. Jieun knew that it is going to be a night filled with rash decisions and she promised herself to keep it to a bare minimum. It was evident that they cannot be careless with their actions because of the nature of their profession; one of the things that she often complain about was the lack of freedom, but how can she whine more if her career is the one that provides food at their table? Still, she wanted to whine about it comfortably. The soloist idly wonder if her companion also thought the same, but she is too bashful to ask her about it.

          “Don’t worry, unnie!” Jieun grinned. “We won’t get into any trouble, I promise you that.” She led Joohyun towards the main highway in order for the pair to grab a cab easier. They were standing by a lamp post when the soloist turns towards the older, “Where are your other members by the way? Shouldn’t you be ironing their clothes or something?” She laughed, referencing an interview she watched by chance.

Of course Jieun’s intention to tease wouldn’t go past the keen Joohyun. It was much apparent that Jieun was having the time of her life watching the older react just like how she imagined. Her slip up, though, was the icing on the cake. It allowed Jieun more chances of teasing Joohyun as she, for a moment, stood flustered. With her common sense, of course she knew not to reveal these types of secrets Red Velvet had. Though it wasn’t exactly illegal, it was still frowned upon for idols.

“Umm…” At first, excuses flew through her head, Joohyun trying to comprehend and utter each one of them as she looked up in thought. Eventually, she gave up. “Yes…the bar…we didn’t get drunk, though! We just had enough to make us chat a bit more livelier, is all.” She wasn’t even lying. Joohyun would have scolded them if either of them got drunk in the middle of it. “There’s not much to tell other than that it was fun but…call!”

It was an amusing sight for Jieun to witness Joohyun fumble and stumble for the right words. She noticed how the older was trying her best to keep the event vague, but the curiosity cat seemed to hop on her shoulder, wanting to know more of this adventure her juniors recently had. Plus, it was an interesting icebreaker for the two of them. A good way on catching up with each other after weeks or maybe months of no proper communication due to overlapping schedules.

         “I think it’s best to talk more about that when we got drinks before us now, right?” She chuckled and looped her arm around the other. Their heights don’t really bore much of a difference and Jieun was able to reach the older easier. She scanned the road before them, light posts were neatly aligned at both sides to illuminate the dark street. Two stray cats sped by and disappeared at a nearby alley.·“We should call a cab. I know a great place to have some soju.” She nodded and then patted Joohyun’s back to reassure her.·“Don’t worry. We won’t get into trouble.. unless you want to.”

Eyes almost pop out of their sockets, not believing the harmless banter coming from Jieun at that moment. She was older than Jieun, as far as she knew, and to have her saying Joohyun was mostly likened to a high school student between the two of them was appalling. “What are you saying?” She appears to be annoyed, even letting out a small snort after her question to even look the act. Truthfully, however, she can never be annoyed at the other; at least not so far.

Joohyun may be slightly shorter than the other female, but it did not mean she was as young as a high school student. She probably should be flattered that she’d be likened to being so young, anyway. “The Red Velvet members…took me to the bar once…” And she recalls that fun time where there were nothing but laughs, although thankfully, no one was drunk enough to cause any commotion at that time. She realizes her slip up, however, quickly covering her mouth with guilty eyes. “I said something I shouldn’t have…just say yes!”

The reaction of the older made her even more giddy. She wanted to continue teasing her. Despite her introverted nature, she do have a playful side and often initiate harmless pranks on her peers. She was about to venture on, more tricks under her sleeve, but something had caught her attention. Jieun took a step back, eyes wide, and covered her already opened mouth that was initiated out of surprise.

          “Wow. Unnie.. The bar? Really? How did it go?” She pressed on further. She was overflowing with curiosity. Joohyun, as Jieun deduced, is like a tiny box full of big surprises. “Did you drank a lot?” She hummed a bit, pretending to be in deep thought, and attempted to stifle her laughter at the older’s flustered face. With a hint of mischief glinting in her eyes, she continued. “If I said yes, would you tell me more about this adventure of yours?”

The older female did not expect to get a straightforward answer right away, of course. Even her own members take a little coaxing before they give in and tell her what’s troubling them. However, what caused the frown to etch upon her face wasn’t because of her will to keep Joohyun in the dark, but the playful teasing that was thrown at her. “Lee Jieun, I’m older.” She states a matter-of-factly, dismissing the probability that it was all a joke to Jieun. Despite being older, however, Jieun had probably been going out for drinks once in a while way before Joohyun had learned to enjoy the activity, which did give the younger female leverage despite what their age says otherwise. “Aren’t I legal already? Just trust me! I won’t let you spill too much, but I won’t let you drown in alcohol, either.” She was still supposed to be responsible, after all.

She threw her head back and laughed, completely out of reservations and primness. It was quite a rarity for Jieun have always thought that it was not a pretty sight for others to witness. Matched with her husky laugh and little squeaks pinched in between, she had been always tried her hardest to conceal the so-called ominous sound. However, she felt very comfortable around Joohyun, thus there was no need to wear a mask around her.

          “Are you sure you’re not a high school student?” She was still in her fits of giggles, completely entertained to the concept that she can tease the older with the harmless jeers and jabs Jieun herself have been receiving for some time now. Relaxing her stance, she tilted her head and stared at the other inquisitively before resuming her words carefully. “But seriously, are you really allowed to drink? I mean, outside? Because I am this close on saying yes, but I’m afraid that we might anger someone on your side.”
