Exactly how I felt when my house burnt down. That night I still had to eat dinner, go to sleep. I still had to wakeup the following morning, wishing it was dream and looking out my neighbor’s window seeing the burnt remains of my home. I had to go outside and face reality to see if we could salvage anything left of our belongings. Afterwards, we continued on with life, we bought groceries, cooked food, washed the dishes, made the bed, eat, sleep.

A few days after, I would often look across the street, at my house, and it aches so much. I start to remember standing frozen in front of my house, wailing, inhaling the smoke, losing my voice and everyone around me screaming and crying. But that didn’t matter, I had an exam tomorrow, I needed to study

I will never get over how weird it feels to have tragic and emotional chapters of your life where you just also still go to work, and the grocery store, and see funny videos online all while feeling such paralyzing fear and heartache
