I really want to finish chapter one for posting an update to itch.io by tomorrow (cause it's the first of the month and I want to start doing updates on that schedule) but also deadlines stress me out, there's still a decent chunk of work to do, and my brain is not complying with my demands, so I'm screaming internally a little bit. But we will see what I can manage!

💘 HEART W/ ARROW - what traits do they look for in a relationship? do they believe in love at first sight? (For The ROs)

This is such a funny set of questions, because like... I don't really think any of the ROs were really looking for, or thinking much about love and finding a relationship before MC comes along! 🤣 So I'm not sure if I can give you very good answers for either question. 🥲

Actually... now that I think about it, I don't think any of them have had much luck or interest in romance prior to the story, as well. Like, your dynamic choice with Kaine changes part of his history, and how close the two of you were growing up in the same community actually changes how others reacted to him. Like, BFF or BFF+Crush Kaine spent most his time with MC; therefore, in those paths, Kaine has had little to no romantic experiences (aside from pining for MC in the crush path). If you're on the Strained path with Kaine, however, it's a little different in that he's previously been approached by others with romantic intent, but turned those advances down for personal reasons.

As for the ROs that haven't been met yet in the demo, Millie has never once been in love (prior to MC), and I honestly would say she's likely on the demi-romantic scale. She is also just terrible with romantic social cues, so it's not easy for her.

Leon grew up as the crown prince of Calcherth, and spent almost all of his time in strict schedules and inside the palace; up until his powers manifested as an angel and he lost the crown prince title, he's never had the time or opportunity for romance. Though, after that happened, he became a bit... harsh in his attitude, so that presented other challenges.

Milo's been focused on their career and their duty to protect others for most of their life. I'm not entirely sure they ever even considered a romance to be in the cards for their future.

Clementene's kind of in the same boat as Milo, considering she's devoted her life (and most her time) to magical study, though her anxious tendencies also tend to interfere in her social life to an extent.

There's a RO POV story for Kaine that's been living in my brain for ages that happens in chapter 2, that I desperately want to write and put on Patreon at a later date... but first I have to actually get the game's writing to chapter 2, so for now it's just looming in my imagination. But just know I'm a little (very) insane about that RO POV and I think about it all the time.

Seeing the previous ask about kaine i was just wondering about MC. I dont know if i asked this before. I ask alot of shit.

But is there any dialog difference if MC is the same gender as an RO or does it make any specific difference to any of the ROs?

Understandable, LOL! I should be going to sleep but I am also on tumblr, so mood!

And hmm... I don't think there will be any major dialogue difference based off gender for any of the ROs honestly! All five are canonly bisexual, and things like gender equality are such an unspoken rule in Calcherth that I don't think it would occur to any of them to react differently to MC based off their gender, one way or another, if that makes sense!

I think there might be some small variety, like Clementene could call a he/him MC her prince, just as an example. But I could also make that kind of thing customizable, so who knows! I hope that answers your question, at least somewhat? 💕

YAY! Congrats on the Twine demo release!!! 🩵🩵🩵🩵I was so pleasantly surprised to see it extended a bit past the original demo! And I love the formatting/ option setup it’s so sleek! But I gotta say- Kaine, our big sweet protector 🥹🥹 missed him.

It made me think: how did/does a crushing on MC Kaine deal with any potential suitors who come around the tavern to get an eyeful of MC or try to court them?

Also: is Martin aware that (bff+crush!) Kaine has feelings for his kid? And vice versa?

Ah, Kaine... as the first character I made for this IF story he holds a special place in my heart. Also, as for a Kaine that's been crushing on MC, unfortunately the answer is that he doesn't deal with it, LOL. Kaine who has been best friends with the MC since they were younger has, well... things that have held him back from ever confessing how he felt. And those same things are a source of a bit of self-loathing for him, so I think if someone were to flirt with MC in front of him, he would simply feel like he didn't deserve to intervene. But, that said, if MC seemed uncomfortable at any point with the flirtation, Kaine would be swooping in so fast to get the person to back off! The guy very much has protective instincts, he just currently has... some unresolved conflicts holding him back from his romantic feelings.

Also, in the BFF+Crush path? Martin totally knows MC and Kaine have feelings for each other. He's been watching them slowly begin to pine for each other for most their lives, to the point where Martin and Gregory discuss the two of them regularly and make wagers on them. They've both decided it's best to "let them figure it out themselves", but at the same time it's driving everyone MC and Kaine both know slowly insane, LOL. I also think Kaine knows that Martin knows, a fact which mortifies him to no end, I'd say. It's all very funny, honestly.

Glad to see the demo release been looking forward to it! There's a slight problem and I don't know if it's just on my end though, whenever I select my pronouns I select he/him but the next page refers to my character as a woman

I'm super glad you were looking forward to it!! That bug is super weird though, I just double checked the Itch.io demo and it's working fine for me. Are you making sure to click the "confirm" button at the bottom of the pronoun select window? It won't set the variables unless you click "confirm".
