So it's been awhile. Been very busy. Finally got moved into our own place last week! It's probably the nicest and most homelike place we've ever lived. Some weird quirks and no dish washer, but the general feel is just So Much Better. It feels like a home rather than a rat trap.
I've begun learning Spanish via Duolingo. Interested to hear if anyone has had good success with it. I kinda wish there was a Mexican Spanish since I live in an area with many Mexican Spanish speaking folks, and I'd really prefer not to sound More like an imbicile or asshole than I am at this very moment.
And now that we have our own place I'm hoping to be able to focus more time on my online programming classes. Gotta finish getting unpacked still tho... ^_^;
Anyway! I hope everyone is having a lovely month! Back to the grind I go!

Hey! Someone has pointed out that I don’t share many Tipps on how to cope with adhd. (It was said to help me understand a point, not to bash or criticize!) The truth is that I’ve not been diagnosed so long ago and was sent home with „congratulations, you have ADHD, now figure it out yourself.“
So let’s figure it out. How could ADHD Aliens approach their parents with getting a diagnosis? And if that’s not possible, what else can be done?

I keep seeing people, especially older adults, claim that if you have “ADD”, you don’t have hyperactive symptoms or that you grow out of it, which is just not true.
“ADD” or ADHD-PI as its now called, just means you have much more inattentive symptoms than hyperactive (hence, PI: Predominantly Inattentive).
I like imagining ADHD as a spectrum, with PH on one side, PI on the other and C in the middle. For example, I’m diagnosed as PI but I still show hyperactive symptoms from time to time; I once threw a towel, down the stairs, at my sister’s friend because I was feeling quite hyper.

I feel like the answer to this is at Least 75% "It's the ADHD."

I've gotta try that. It feels like it would help at least sometimes!
What are some ‘basic’ things you struggle with?
For me: showering, brushing my hair, cooking and making food on time, leaving the house

I'm definitely in that boat regularly. The "Are U Kidding me?? THIS IS ALSO from ADHD? WHO EVEN AM I? Amg I'm practically nothing but ADHD on feet... two of them. Both left feet oc."
My intense emotions make it hard to be myself around others. Emotional Dysregulation is a MASSIVE and underrated topic in ADHD.

Subject: Presidential Candidates: Unite Against Racism and for Voter Registration
Hi,
I signed a petition to All Presidential Candidates, which says:
"All presidential candidates should unite for a massive, pro-voter, anti-racism rally in Greenville, NC—the city in which attendees at a Trump rally chanted "Send her back!"—to reject racism and regression, register voters, and demonstrate what an America committed to moving forward together looks like."
Will you sign this petition? Click here:

Thanks!

As a person who had childhood epilepsy, but not that kind. I 100million% endorse this post.
all video games should have an “epilepsy friendly mode” where any and all flashy effects are toned down no you can’t change my mind

i hate aspects of this site but i’m also way less insensitive, ignorant, and prejudiced because of the time i’ve spent here. i came here for humor and ended up exposed to minority voices & POVs I wasn’t even looking for.
which was awesome, bc while most of us know we should be learning these things, most of us don’t associate it with something we’d spend our leisure time pursuing & enjoying. minority representation in media, in fun and popular media that people want to view, is so important for exactly this reason.
anyway, curate your online experience. make it fun, make it inclusive, fill in your blind spots & unlearn your prejudices while laughing off your ass.

Because no one blames a dog for their circumstances. In the current social climate homeless people are to blame for their own circumstances, so fuck em. Dogs on the other hand, everyone agrees have nearly 0 culpability.

Access to healthcare, education, clean water and environment are considered basic human rights in most developed countries. In the U.S. wanting those things for everyone makes you a “radical leftist.”
