Snatcher only really tolerates Hat Kid as much as he does because he sees her as a Daughter figure, and she’s the kid he never actually got to have. This is the valid PROOF of this claim
So, it’s basically confirmed via the Subcon Storybook that Snatcher is indeed the Prince that Vanessa locked away. In the manor, you can find a room with a crib, stuffed bear, balloons, and a few other children’s things. This shows that the two were planning on having a child together (But someone had to be a salty bitch and ruin that by chaining her lover in the fucking basement. I mean, cmon ).
Now. Let’s look at Snatcher and his behaviours.
In the game, Snatcher is easily capable of killing Hat Kid and keeping her soul once she defeats him. Yet, he only makes her sign a contract. Instead of simply killing her when she adds the ‘BFF’ notes to it (like he does when she refuses the contract upon meeting him), he says that’s not how it works, and he gives her the Time-Piece and her soul. In doing this, he is allowing her to return and he doesn’t seem to really set up any surefire ways to prevent her dropping in.
And now, Death Wish. Oh boy. Upon completing certain Death Wish tasks, Hat Kid is rewarded with little rewards such as skins, outfits, flairs, and badges. Now, where do these come from? If you’ve seen some of the art regarding Death Wish, most of the reward-art depicts Snatcher gifting Hat Kid with said items. I myself think he did this due to the fact that her closet is mostly empty, she only has one outfit, and I feel that he wants to praise and reward her for completing such tasks.
Now you may be wondering, “But he tries to kill her and shit! Why would he want to reward her?” I’m going to simply say that Death Wish could be a method of ‘training’ Hat Kid and toughening her up. Instead of leaving her for dead, he makes remarks about her dying and allows her to keep trying. Now, before you say, “but that’s essential for gameplay!” let me say this. Let’s look at this as more than a game, let’s see it as a reality of its own. An entirely new entity. If he really wanted her dead, he’d have just taken her soul and killed her beforehand.
Another point that can be made by looking at his personality is when you are about to deliver mail to his minions. He tells Hat Kid that he gives them mail, and it’s almost like somebody cares about him. Now, this could be his Prince-instincts leftover just taking control and it could be him taking care of his ‘subjects’, but it doesn’t change the fact he’s actually a caring person. Not to mention the Steam Card describes him as a ‘Soon-deh-ray’.
In conclusion, Snatcher is indeed, a good dad.
Okay, maybe not GOOD, but he’s doing a decent job so far.
He’s trying
Hi there ! It’s me again :) I’m just curious as to how you found a hat in time , and also who is your favourite character from a hat in time ? Thanks !!
No worries. Found it after hearing Man On The Internet's Snatcher song. And my favorite character is Snatcher of course.
I realized that I could make every move cool by fitting him with a ring. Thanks to Yubaba. I love her magical scenes. The many jewels fitted on her finger make it beautiful.
