You know the one thing that actually destroyed choices wasn't even the quality of their books - it was the fact that they segregated us between VIP and non :/
They had put out bad books before but we still kind of read them and had the fandom to discuss how shitty they were - that was the whole point of choices.
Now when you're reading alone? It's like who the hell cares lol
You know sometimes how you follow creators (eg. youtubers) earlier on in their career and maybe every piece of content isn’t a 10/10 but you can feel their passion and excitement for what they’re doing, and that makes them worth it; and then as they get notoriety—and their videos become more and more profitable—you begin to notice how their persona has gradually shifted and the videos start to become more like everything else that’s purpose driven to generate revenue; and this continues for some time until the content gradually becomes devoid of any soul, and it’s clear that the creator no longer finds creating artistically or intellectually fulfilling and is only still doing this for the money—and it’s sad, really, because you used to have so much excitement around their content, but now you only watch out of some sort of loyalty to what it once was and in hope they’ll one day return that that excitement, but a cynical part of you knows they never will?
That’s the modern-day Choices experience.
