If you live in Springfield or around the Missouri Ozarks, chances are #GiveOzarks will be trending in your social media feeds, but I’ll leave my contribution to this one post. Please visit GiveOzarks.org and consider donating to one (or more!) of the 150+ organizations that are raising funds to help improve life in the Ozarks. I’m very honored to not only have a hand in making this day a reality (through design, photography and lots of hand-lettering), but also to have worked with a number of the agencies involved (Drury University, Watershed Committee, SRAC, Discovery Center, JRBP, Moxie Cinema). Take a look at the participating agencies and donate to the causes that share your passion.

Recently I whipped up this poster for the Discovery Center's annual Halloween Night at the Museum. I've been trying to find more projects suitable for hand-lettering and this was a very fun opportunity.
For those of you with kids, the museum's Halloween event is a very fun time—a great excuse to get some extra mileage out of those costumes, plus they finish the night with a pyrotechnic pumpkin display.

If you’re arriving or departing from Springfield-Branson National Airport between now and early November, please take a minute on your way into the terminal to see prints from my “Zeniths & Zephyrs” book, taken during a trip to Big Sur several years ago. This is the first time I’ve shown my photography in a gallery setting and I’m very excited to start sharing my images in this format. The prints are located on the east wall of the terminal, by the first row of airline check-in desks. Each print is 16”x12” on cotton rag matte photo paper. They are available for purchase, unframed, through Springfield Regional Arts Council. The images here are the prints on display. Soon I’ll begin selling prints from this set and the images I post here on ABDITO through my website.

Big Blue Spring on the Niangua, a mystical spot on the river. This weekend, we camped next to the mouth of the spring branch and watched the fireflies sparkle below the stars.

The dogwoods around Springfield have started to leaf out and lose their petals, so I drove about 50 miles north to the Lead Mine Conservation Area to find the forest filled with flowers. The smattering of white blossoms across the landscape is one reason why spring is my favorite season in the Ozarks.

Wake Robin No. 1, from the trail around Valley Water Mill, April 21, 2014
The wake robin is one of my favorite springtime wildflowers, and yesterday they were starting to open up. They are a simple but showy flower of fantastic contrast, with three deep burgundy petals on top of mottled green leaves. This is the first of several images I made of wake robins yesterday; more forthcoming.

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin's first album, "Broom," has been repressed yet again—this time as a limited-edition picture disk. When we first worked on the art and photography for "Broom," I had produced the art for a few CDs, but "Broom" fulfilled a personal goal to help produce an LP. With that in mind, you can imagine the thrill of having my design and photography show up directly on the vinyl. If you don't have a copy of "Broom," pick up a record, either this one, the standard issue, the mp3s, whatever. The classics never go out of style.
