i can’t believe i fell for it

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, to listen to doctors and get my flu vaccine and any shots i could because they remembered Before.

then they started fighting Covid precautions.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that the ozone was disappearing and the earth was dying and we needed to recycle and save the planet.

now my parents think climate change is a myth.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that racism was a plague, that we had to love and accept everyone, that we should never judge before walking a mile in their shoes.

then they told me that protesting for my Black siblings was wrong.

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that we needed to give to the poor. working at soup kitchens. making quilts. collecting food and money and supplies. building houses. because it was the christian and just plain right thing to do.

now they look at me, on food stamps with their grandchildren, and lament the "welfare state".

i remember adults telling me, as a kid, that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and that any rich man, especially an immoral one, should never run our country.

you can guess who they voted for.

You can’t oppress and discriminate against someone then be mad when they take their highly useful skill elsewhere.

my baby cousin came home today he’s a little upset he can’t see me all the time cause of my exam and he was talking to me and he asked me ‘siva chechi, you are going to be a doctor?’ and I said well yes, that is what I hope I could do, do you think I could do it? AND HE CHOSE to keep his tiny hands on my knees and say ‘of course you could do it, I believe in you’ with such conviction and compassion I almost sat there and sobbed in front of my mum and aunt

pls he should just be upset I can’t play with him as he wants but his 6 year old brain decided to be like the kindest person ever where did he even learn to respond like this

Remembering the time where I consciously decided to mix my meneiers meds with a red bull and then slept for just four hours and had a mug of coffee and left for work like nothing was gonna happen to me. Only to end up having chest pain and aggravation of what was a seemingly harmless heart condition worsened and scaring the living hell out of my friends and my attending.

Did they ever reveal how Captain America was thawed? Because I’m picturing a bunch of Shield agents with hair dryers and I don’t think that’s quite right.
