Blind Tumblr users: don’t get the latest iOS app update!

I just updated my tablet to the newest version of the tumblr app for iOS and it completely broke screen reader access for both VoiceOver and Spoken Content. This has happened in the past already, so I will file a support ticket and copy-paste my text from last time, but this really sucks. I sincerely hope this doesn’t affect all screen reader users, but I’m unsure how they could program this bug in a way it only affects me. If you rely on a screen reader to use the tumblr app, I’d advice to not get the latest update to be on the safe side.

When I say “completely broke access”, what I mean is that no posts on my dash or on individual blogs get read or recognized at all. No plain text, alt text, tags, etc. Note count and buttons still work though.

If you also run into this bug, here’s my advice. If anyone has something more useful, please tell me

File a support ticket and report this bug

Use the browser web version, which still works for me

Interestingly, if you save a post to your drafts and click on “edit” the post text seems to get read correctly. This might be a work-around for some people.

If you have the latest version but your screen reader didn’t break, also please tell me! I would be fascinated to know if this bug is only affecting some people

TL;DR: The latest tumblr app update for iOS made it so screen readers no longer work in the app

Request Guide!

Here's a handful of guidelines for submitting a request! Please feel free to reach out via DM or ask if you have any questions! I'm here to help, and I'm happy to work stuff out!

I'll write headcanons for up to 3 characters in a single work. If you got more characters on your mind, feel free to just submit another request!

(Example: an HC request for Chris, Leon, and Wesker would meet the max).

I'll take requests for nearly any (reasonable) short story type scenario (related to age-re)! I love the challenge!

I am happy to flip around Caregiver/Regressor roles! Just make sure you specify who's the regressor and who's the CG.

(Example: asking for a regressor Leon x CG reader drabble.)

I'll also happily write stand-alone Regressor Character headcanons or drabbles!

(Example: asking for regressor Chris headcanons.)

If you'd like a specific scenario, please go into a little bit of detail on it.

(Example: a regressor reader has a [themed, if you want!] play-date with regressor Leon.)

If it seems like it's been a couple days, and I haven't at least acknowledged your message, feel free to bring it to my attention again! Chances are I might've forgotten, I can be a little scatterbrained sometimes!

That said, I'm not gonna put a pace on how quick requests are gonna get done. I'll put out updates as I'm working on things, of course, but overall I really can't predict my pace, unfortunately. I've got a lot of life on my hands.

Who Do I Write For?

I'm most comfortable (and by comfortable, I mean... least afraid of mischaracterizing?) with a select handful of Resident Evil characters, exactly one Outlast character, and one Midnight Mass character.

In order of most comfortable to least comfortable, here's the entire list (as of 10/12/23). I intend to keep it pretty small because knowing myself, once I start looking at quantity, I tend to throw out quality, and I don't wanna put myself in that position, or subject y'all to content that I'm not totally proud of.

Bolded names indicate characters I have a tiny bit of preference for writing.

What Do I Write?

For this blog, I'm sticking to age regressor friendly content. This just means content that's suitable for regressors who are, well, regressed. That means no sexual material, PG-13-ish language, and very minor violence.

What pairings do I do?

I do both platonic and romantic pairings, but I have a slight preference toward writing for romantic pairings. What can I say, I grew up writing romance and it stuck with me. So please please please make sure that if you submit a platonic request, you note that it's platonic! I don't wanna mess it up by accident. I'll write Canon/Reader and Canon/(my own)OCs. I'll do Canon/Canon ships on request though!

What formats do I write?

I do headcanons, short stories/drabbles, or just my general thoughts in no particular order. I don't have any ongoing works, and I don't have plans for any quite yet.

That's all here! This list may or may not grow/shrink, we'll see what happens. If there's a character you want me to take a look at, just send a little request, and I'll happily look into them and give my thoughts! They'll be nice thoughts, I promise; I just love hearing about other people's favorites.

TLDR: New CG Wesker works incoming, Eddie Gluskin headcanons in development, and there will be a second post shortly after this one featuring a full list of characters I'll write for, and guidelines for making requests!

All right, now that I've actually started working on some things, I wanna put out a status update! As of 09/12/23, I'm working on:

Caregiver Wesker Content:

Due to some personal circumstances, I'm writing some ...shark week/crimson tide/what-have-you CG Wesker headcanons. They're going to be gender neutral so everyone can relate, as usual. I know it's not the most usual thing to write about (especially in age-re), but I think it could be helpful to regressors who experience this whole thing. This is a super niche self-indulgent one but hopefully it can help some others as well!

Additional non-specific headcanons, of course, because they're just so nice and simple for me to put out!

Perhaps an actual full-length work? And by that I just mean something that's formatted like a story. It might not be a super long work, but it'll be something. I'm also debating whether or not it will be a reader-insert or an OC insert. That's super up in the air right now, because I have had a dire need to write Wesker/OC age-re content, but I don't want to alienate people. I might just do both, who knows. Ahem, this is what polls are for, Dongo.

Caregiver Eddie Gluskin Content:

Well, I've opened a document for Eddie Gluskin content, so I guess that makes it official. Just to ease into things, he's just gonna get a simple batch of general headcanons. I am soooo unbelievably excited to start working on CG content for him... he is SUCH a huge comfort for me (and many others I'm sure!).
